The man I am seeing has a 32 ft powerboat he lives on in SoCal. While I cannot see selling my small home, I stay for the w/end. We enjoy sunsets, coffee on deck in am, marine wildlife. I am learning to love it and he is letting me make it homey! And it is really cheap housing/living too. That's the real secret!

I like how she is so happy with all the space because she lived in a much smaller boat before....most people would say this was crampt... Good for them though there happy.it is a lovely boat.

4 gallons per hour?! Holy Crap, that is great! I had a Carver 3755 MY with two 300HP Mercruzers and at 16knots (cruising speed) I only got 1.9 gallons per MILE! 16knts = 19.1 miles per hour, that is 36.3 gallons per hour. I had to get to 16 knts for the hull to plane out. I suspect that if I just kept the engines on close to 'idle' in forward gear my 'Gal per Mile' would improve, but I just love to hear the water 'slosh' off of the hull.

What a lovely couple!!! I want more people like them in my life. I think their washroom is way too small, but it works for them. He said that the boat is in perfect condition, so that must of been a sweet deal. They don't say the cost of living, how much do you need to live in a boat. Where are they? How do they maintain the boat, especially the part in the water?

No more mowing the lawn! What a great attitude you both have. Your home is like you, living and moving. Get tired of your surroundings, throw off the lines and go to another place. Nice people. Galley-down is a great format for a cabin cruiser. Sidney BC is also a great place to keep a boat.

I was just browsing RU-vid and wanted to see some content on boating, and came across this feature. I absolutely LOVED it! Very well done and inspiring. This was a movie that made me consider what this might be like for myself. I admired this couple and even envied them! my wife and i life on a 45 feet yacht in holland.....4 the last 25 years.....we dont want 2 pay a 1000 dollars a month 4 rent ......its a wonderfull live we can go where we want...when we want......bless u and greetings from mohammed and mina.......holland

Good advice. I also live aboard my 44' trawler. One must divest oneself of a lifetime of accumulation "things". I gave away, sold , donated all of those "things" and am much happier for it. There is just so much space one has on a boat or motor home, so one tends to only have things one needs and uses . I enjoy my marina life, the morning sunrises, the views from my sundeck or flybridge . A certain amount of serenity comes with this lifestyle. I sold the big house and I guess that makes me " homeless" too. Cost to me, in maintenance, is no more than maintaining a home.

i lived on a 33 footer in san diego for 18 months. it was wonderful. we wanted to upgrade to a 42 foot grand banks, but it was tough time to sell boats at that time. moved to the middle of the country, and no water. some time in the future?

What does it cost to dock the boat? Use the electric hook up? For heat do you depend on the boat motor system or do you use something else; electric, propane, kerosene? How far do you have to walk to your car and is the car in a garage? How close can you drive to bring groceries, supplies? Etc.

Great idea! I wish you the best with your movie, and I just loved the couple you interviewed. So realistic and down to earth but with a great relationship. . Move from house to sailboat to power boat and still have the living relationship is great to see. I am hoping to move to a motor yacht myself someday.

What sweet couple...I hope be as content as them in my retirement years!! I will stay on land ;-) in a Class C & bring my grandson along to explore the world!!! He & I talk about adventures all the time, hence the reason for a Class C, he wants to sleep in the bunk ;-) Cheers to you & here's to many more yrs!!!!! Don’t wait. Just don’t. We bought our boat 4 years ago. I retire in 2 years. We spend every second we can on the boat. We can’t wait to sell the house and live on the boat full time. We so HATE leaving the boat Monday mornings. Come on 2 years!
