Moonbyul may not appear as fierce as Hwasa, but exactly as rebelious for her own cause. Hwasa is chalenging the beauty standard while Moonbyul is chalenging the gender-norm in kpop. And Solar & Wheein are also rebelious in their own way chalenging their own causes. I worship these four brave rebelious goddesses...musicwise & attitude wise. That's why I have great respect to Mamamoo.
fun fact about Absence: Byul was watching a Kdrama (the world of the married) and basically created a song from the perspective of someone who was cheated on but took the person back. once I found that out, it made watching the mv more emotional
Minor correction, she actually hinted at before and recently confirmed that she wrote the song with the mistress of the cheater in mind. The song was actually from Dakyung's perspective. A man who gave her empty promises of leaving, her coming to hate his words but still loving him, feeling like she doesn't really have him bc he's still with his wife. It's interesting to think about it this way.

Moonbyul's solos always feel so deeply personal and different. I genuinely think those do not get appreciated enough. She always challenges and pushes herself to try something so out of the norm. She has my utmost respect
the way you interpreted the song is really on point! moonbyul got inspired by a kdrama to write it and the story is very similar to 500 days of summer, at least in terms of emotions conveyed. i also learned a lot by watching you break down absence's choreography. thank you so much!
One of many reasons why moonbyul is my bias. She didnt afraid to not following gender stereotype, where female has to be feminine, sexy and cute. She has masculine and handsome vibe just naturally. She showing that female also could be tough, strong, doing hard choreo. The other reasons is her rap skill and her deeper tone. Not to mention her rap singing style which is unique. Most of female rapper usually rap with high pitched tone which is mainstream. Moonbyul really breaking gender stereotype in kpop. She's my first girl crush ever.
Moonbyul is an A+ rapper, great singer and most importantly Moonbyul is a Lyrical genius. This is one of my favorite songs of her. She's so fu"king talented.
I love Absence. It’s in my top 3 Moonbyul songs- Eclipse, Absence, Mirror or Moon Movie. Vocal and rap showcasing and some choreography. I love vocalist Byul as much of more more then I love rapper Byul.
i still can't believe she wrote this about a drama she was watching and she managed to convey such emotion, both with the lyrics and the delivery... as for the choreo, this was choreographed by the same guy who choreographed "eclipse", kasper, who is known for working on boy group choreo (esp exo). he came back about a month after "eclipse" to work on this song with her and her dancers

I was absolutely awe shocked when I first saw this. Moon is in my humble opinion the best singer of the four ladies. I love all of their voices, but dang… why have they not been giving her more singing parts. I know she is their rapper but you don’t waste a voice like hers. Love your video’s. Fighting.
Absence is one of the true gems of Byul, her songwriting is amazing and breathtaking. Other songs similar to absence are: "Mirror" this one have a little dance video (full song in Spotify), and maybe "In my room" (has a MV) and "Love and Hate" (has a performing video), these three songs have a deep meaning behind the lyrics but its a personal story from Byul. I love Absense so much, then it made me binge watch the KDrama World of Married Couple (during the lockdown), since she based the song on this. Aahaha At first she hinted who, in the end she revealed in Studio Moon Night it was the mistress character she based the lyrics on.
