Retired F-16 ace 'Two Dogs' Hampton willing to fly combat missions for Ukraine

One of America's most decorated former fighter pilots says he would volunteer to fly combat missions over Ukraine if the chance was offered.
Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Dan 'Two Dogs' Hampton flew the F-16 for 20 years and earned four Distinguished Flying Crosses with Valor and a Purple Heart.
Having flown 151 combat sorties, he has taken part in both the First Gulf War, Kosovo and the war in Iraq.
Lt Col Hampton says he backs the idea of giving Ukraine Western jets, particularly F-16s, but says it will take time.

Ukrainian law recently changed that now allows experienced international fighter pilots and support crew to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are actively recruiting F16 pilots and support crew. Reznikov released a video this week..

I think it's a fact that Russian pilots flew combat aircraft for US adversaries in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Western contract pilots flying fighters for Ukraine would be very much like the First American Volunteer Group (nicknamed the Flying Tigers) created by Claire L. Chennaullt to provide air power for the Chinese in 1940-41. About 100 pilots were recruited and flew P40's. Remember that the Russians sent pilots to fly Mig-15's in the Korean War, so they can hardly object to us returning the favor.

We need to form a modern "Flying Tigers 🐅 " squadron, I don't think it would take long to muster up volunteers.

I respect people like Hampton who are actually willing to put themselves in the line of fire to help Ukraine how to use this new tech. Very valuable service he is offering - it a major contribution above and beyond simulated training.

This is a brilliant idea, have western pilots with decades of experience in western fighters fly for Ukraine now while their next generation of western trained pilots go through their courses in the west.

Unless I'm missing something, LTC Hampton is not an ace since he doesn't have 5 air-to-air victories. I'm sure he's an extremely talented F-16 pilot, but calling him an ace in the title is wrong.
