Retirement is not just about whether you can or can't work; neither is it about whether you love the job, part of it is replenishing the workplace. Make way for other people to grow in their careers. That's a great problem with university professors they never leaves and so you have tons of younger people that can't get tenured or earn a decent salary.
Not at all helpful. Definitely not someone who has experienced the real world. I worked a job I hated for 40 years because it was what a female in the USA could do to make enough money to support ourselves and our family. The job required so many hours on top of juggling other responsibilities that there was no time to explore hobbies or interests or even what I liked about life. AND in my experience and the experience of those I know the employer absolutely determines when you get pushed out/retired. There is no way I'd go back to work, so those like me need other options.
Great talk. Happy I travelled from 20-72, and I helped others. Rent and utilities take most of our retirement income, and Our saving can be reduced to nothing, like Zimbabwe, Argentina, Venezuela etc.
Face it, life after 75 sucks. Hip and knee replacements, pacemaker, hearing aids, glasses, scooters, rogain and viagra. They take all of the good parking spots. The boomers are going to have to deal with euthanasia as an option to being spoon fed applesauce for last few years of life.
