TRICARE reserve retired is disgusting considering they're charging over $1,300 a month for a service member and their family after they retire after giving years of their life to their country multiple deployments in multiple injuries this is disgusting they promised us free health care when we retired it was a lie yes once you reach 60 it's a decent program but before 60 you're screwed

Agreed. I can't retire for too the high cost of health insurance for a family. It is disgusting. I'm still serving as a TPU for the health insurance . I heard recently they are trying to give tricare for life to reservist who retire before 60. I hope something comes of this.

I second that, especially the info on Reduced Retirement (17:30). Did a few Title 10 MPA long tours, nice to be able to collecting retirement a little sooner than waiting to turn 60.

Be sure to contact myPers for the computer authentication/certifications to download on computer your computer if you do not have a CAC card. I could not get in to vPC to apply for retirement until I did this.

ticks me off I was never told about this reduced retirement age thing while I was still in! OR that I had to/was supposed to "apply" for my retirement before I turned 60!!

It would be nice to have one web page to go to instead of trying to log into 4-6 different ones.

Thank you for the brief. Do you have a reference for the 10 year commission requirement when retiring as a drill status guardsmen entering into IRR grey retirement. All of the documentation I have found states 20 years of service. There is no 10 year commission requirement. To retire from the Reserve Component as a commissioned officer, you must have 20 qualifying years of service (Good Years) and be a commissioned officer at the time of retirement while also meeting the TIG requirement. Thanks

My wife just retired from the active army reserve after 40 years of service, of those 50 years she did 3 years active duty Army and 37 years in the active Army reserves , doing all her monthly drills and annual traii g, even deploying 7 - 8 times for a year or more to Iraq, she was discharded in March of 2022 after she had reach her 60 th Birthday, and she submitted her retirement packet then, its now April 2023 and she has not received not one monthly retirement check, she had do redo a packet in may last year because they said she was missing a document, why is it taking over a year and she still has not gotten paid, she stated they will have to back pay her from last year April 1, but still does it take this long every time she calls them they state their proccesing it. ???

The application won't open because the mypers site is showing Not Secure. Is there a work around that you know of?

If I did 10 years of active duty and eligible to draw at 50, do I get my retired Tricare benefits as well at 50?
@garycooper8687
@garycooper8687 Год назад
No you have to wait until 60 for Tricare.
@davidsamson1653
@davidsamson1653 Год назад
You can get tricare reired reserves. For a family it's $1300/mo premium. Extremely expensive. At 60 you will get tricare for life

Just to confirm, MPAs ARE eligible to reduce retirement? I have heard conflicting reports on that.
@justman777texas2
@justman777texas2 Год назад
Yes, MPA is creditable for a reduced retirement age. Submit your orders to get credit. Hope you already found your answer.

State active duty; does it count towards retirement?
@sandrakaylindsay952
@sandrakaylindsay952 Год назад
State active duty on SAD orders with a state paycheck will not count for retirement. If you were activated on regular active duty orders for a State emergency, were paid through your regular military pay system, then it will count. You can check your orders system and your record review to see this. By the way, while you are on State orders (SAD orders), you also do not get military benefits such as VA coverage for injuries. Instead any injuries will be covered by your state health system, or workman's comp.
@garycooper8687
@garycooper8687 Год назад
Depends on the order code. Find the code and check the list. Only one code counts on the state side.502(f) - responding to national emergency declared by the president or supported by federal funds
