Depends which part you're looking at. It's a large area.. Plenty of good spots and bad spots. I'd say it's a win if you can find a nice place with land to enjoy.
I love desert landscaping, wish my HOA would let me do it here in FL. And I would trade a haboob for a hurricane any day. I really feel AZ would benefit from a Toll-Road, the only thing that makes it tolerable getting around Orlando is the toll road.
It's pretty smooth sailing getting around PHX. The nice thing is there's a few different "routes" you can take in case of a crash or slow traffic. I haven't really had an issue except on the I-10 which gets a little jammed up west of central Phoenix.

Depends on the size/age of the home. Let's say you're in a 1200 square foot home, I'd say around $200/mo. Just a guess. I'm in a 2,900 ft² two-story home that is built in 2002. Our bill is about 450 to $500. One thing you can do is call SRP and get the high and the low for the year on any address. That is the electric company that services some of the properties here. The other is APS but they will not tell you.

You did a video a little while ago on a new retirement community, This builder had the average cost of electricity on the wall of each model. It was $84 a month for I think around 2000 sq ft, single story which would be around a $1000.00 a year. Did I catch that incorrectly or is your 2 story just a lot higher in price? Do a lot of people get solar panels and is it something you might recommend? Thanks for your help!!!
Hello! A 2 story will cost a bit more especially for older homes. With the newer homes, however, they are insulated and sealed pretty well. You will have a higher electric cost with a 2 story, but nothing crazy on the newer homes.
Interesting perspective. I have decided to move to Tucson in June. I like the fact that it's a little less crowded than the metro Phoenix area and there's a more varied landscape. It's also about a thousand feet higher in elevation than Phoenix, which translates to about 10-15 degrees less warm in the dog days of summer. (Notice I said less warm, not cooler.) But mid 90s is better than 110 degrees any day.
