mine tangles up and I had to take it apart and untangle it, now when I put it back together it always retracts, what is the braking mechanism that keeps it extended? can't seem top see anything. og well I guess I'll buy a new one

Is that little ball the stuff that stop it and release to retracting back because I took it apart and put it back it will retract but will not lock when I pull it out to the length that I want,any help?
