After days of research, I opted for this RetraxPro MX model for a Ford F350 because of its series of sealed roller bearings. However, there were some significant shortcomings with the product that are worthy of mention. The worst of them all, by FAR, was how incredibly 'tight' the top is upon closing it. The manufacturer (Retrax) clearly states in the provided Installation Instructions NOT to lubricate the tracks or any other component of the tonneau cover. However, the fit against the upper weatherstripping affixed to the inside of each track is so ridiculously tight that upon every single opening and closing event, an inch or more of the weatherstripping itself is dislodging and migrating rearward, protruding out of its slot, on the rear of each track, at the tailgate end. And to be clear, the width adjustment between tracks (left and right, front and back) is "identical" to within 1/16". Hence, there is NO other form of friction or resistance. In my view, this is essentially overkill by the designers in terms of fit and attempted weatherproofing, and is a completely unnecessary and unacceptable circumstance. Its unfortunate too, because if it weren't for that single fatal shortcoming, this particular tonneau cover would easily be the best of its kind on the market.
SAME ISSUE - 2015 F350 - I am an engineer. I know how to measure. Rollback too tight in last 18" but tracks are parallel. I did not yet notice the weather strip migrating, but it should not for that price. 10-25-2018
I bought this cover today, and had the shop install it..... it’s so tight just like Joseph said. Retrax also told us this top would work with my factory bed divider in my 2017 Nissan Titan XD.... it doesn’t...... there are 2 bolts that hit it. If I had know this top would not work, I wouldn’t of bought it! I had a roll n lock on my last truck and it was perfect from day one till I traded in truck. I can’t wait to call Retrax on next business day...... I can’t even open it it so tight... shop adjusted it and say .... oh, it will get better with use....... can you imagine if everything we bought was horrible at the beginning and we had to wait for it to get better………… straight up embarrassing...... this is fu$&ed!!!!!
Mine was professionally installed and it leaks like a sieve. I hate it and wish I never bought it. I miss my Diamondback cover that I had on my last truck.
