I've made two now, and I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this tutorial. The most helpful instruction was to "slip stitch into the first true stitch". This made so much more sense than many instructions that try to get you to count stitches, etc. Thank you!
Hi friends! Here's a fun and funky retro daisy for the end of summer. This was a requested video by a few viewers that were a little confused on the color change techniques for this square. These squares are addictive once you get the hang of it! xx
Hi Donna I would like to do a join as you go for this retro daisy pattern. Could you please let me know if that's possible and would I need to change the last dc row you done to do the join as you go. Really love this pattern. Thanks Krystene ❤️
@@krystenemanthey5812 I think you’re asking me? I’m Roz . Yes, you can do jayg with this. I recommend you omit round 8 and join on round 7 . treat it like you would a solid granny square 👍🏻
@PlayHookywithMe Thanks I will try that and see how I go; you may get another message as I am not good at doing things that don't have a pattern to follow right to the end but will be a good challenge for me. Sorry for the wrong name . 🧶😊♥️
Hi, thank you for your tutorial. I'm very new to crochet and want to learn how to crochet a flower crochet square. I will only have to slow the speed so that I can follow your instructions easier. I have a query. What does the 'sk' stand for? Thank you
Oh my goodness! I LOVE this pattern! I just completed my first square, and I plan on making more using scrap yarn! Coasters galore!!! Thank you! Pictures to come soon on Instagram!
I finished it...Thank you thank you...I am a leftie ...I watched your video on 6/15 and have finished a 1X-2X cardigan just yesterday...I would love to share a picture with you of your wonderful amazing teachings of this project and what I was able to create...you are patient and very thoroughly and know that you are appreciated by us all ❤❤❤
Hi, I looked on her instagram acct and couldn’t find your cardigan. When did you post it? I’d love to see it. A retro daisy cardigan sounds wonderful. Thanks
This is a great pattern, thank you. Very clear and easy instructions to follow and so nice to go in and watch a video that just gets right into the pattern. Love it.
Thank you for making this pattern finally make sense to me! I’ve looked at so many patterns and videos of this and the way you explain it has be addicted to making these!
I've watched many channels for how to knit like this, but I really like the way you teach.I tried it and it came out really beautiful. Thank you from my heart.❤😊
This is exactly the kind of thing I’m in the mood to crochet today. Great tutorial!! I think I’m gonna do it in some red, yellow, orange, and rusty burgundy colors.
Thank you so much for this video! I was about to throw yarn and crochet hook from trying to follow some written directions and your video really made it so easy. Thank you!
Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve tried this a few other times & was not happy with the result! You are a very clear & concise instructor-thank you again 😊
It’s so nice to have video instructions vs 60’s, 70’s handbook guide. I must of given up many times because I couldn’t figure out the written instructions given of that error and time. I am soooo motivated LUV💖LUV💖TO💖CROCHET💖
I only started crocheting a few days ago so I was a bit intimidated by this, but you do such a great job of explaining and showing things clearly not only was I able to recreate it but I feel like I’ve got a way better understanding of crochet overall. Thank you!
Awe, that’s lovely to read , thank you so much ! I’m so impressed that you tackled this after just learning to crochet . That’s amazing, congratulations! 😀👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Wonderful tutorial! Thank you for not teaching me how to crochet while you’re teaching me the pattern! 😂I hate that! This is not a beginner project. Really great editing and easy instructions. Just finished and I love it! Thank you so much for this!
Thsnk you. I used old payterns in Janurary making fronts of little girl purses for 2023 Christmas. Need 19. Stopped to make many other things, picked up again in August, ha. I had decided just to give to my granddaughters because I found the pattern so confusing. I bought all the yarn in Jan. Now I will go forward with my original plan. Thankyou. You rescued all this cotton yarn. My husband thanks you, too. 😅😊
I want this video to automatically play every time I open RU-vid ❤. I'm not kidding. I'm on my 6th square and I still can't memorize it. (I'm very old lol)😎😎❤️❤️❤️
I just wanted to share with everybody and I don't know how so maybe you can help it be spread around. But my son comes up with a brilliant idea. Before you put your yarn on your yarn Winder slip a paper towel or toilet paper roller over it and then it stays on it very well and you can slip your Labels down inside there and if you really need to you can make a hole in the paper towel holder and add a p c yarn and taught to it so you won't have to worry about losing it but I just thought it was a great idea and I wanted to thanks for all you guys help
Wonderful pattern and very well explained, Roz. I love any old hippy clothing and nostalgic items from the decade. I'll make a few of your retro daisies to go along with a great peace sign pattern (trivet-type) that I crocheted a few years back. Good memories of fun days. ☮
This sent me back to watching The Price is Right during its heyday with Bob Barker - remember to spay and neuter! (Youre my crowd if you get that reference). Those big beautiful daisies! I plan to keep to the '70s look by using avacado green and bright orange for the squares. Thank you for the inspiration! ❤
Thank you for this. I did another one but wasn’t fond of carrying the yarn and wanted to tack the petals down. This one is just what I’ve been looking for. Thank you so much! 🥰💝🧶
Wonderful tutorial, and I like the pace you work at it is very easy to follow. I was worried this would be a hard design when I first started but you helped make it so simple!
Bigger hook , bigger yarn. Or If you want to make the petals longer then document the increments used to make the petal grow each round. Follow the same increase pattern to expand the petals. At the end you can add more rounds of hdc or sc’s to make the square bigger.
Thanks so much for this! I would love to make the square bigger and bigger, so adding rows from row 7 onwards. I suppose I could single or double crochet it all around like you do for row 8? Or is there another way to make the square bigger?
I think with some study of the multiples, you could probably grow the petals as well but I’d have to sit and study it to know for sure. But yes, you could definitely make the square itself larger by adding a couple of more border rounds.
Addendum . Watch at 14 minutes - I show how to tack down the petal. I recommend as you’re working the rounds after you’ve done the petals - catch a strand from the back of the petal as you work the stitches behind it. For example, if you’re making a hdc , make the first yo as normal and then when you go to pull the yarn through, place your hook into a strand in the back of the petal and pull the yarn through it at the same time as you’re completing your hdc. I thought I showed an example of that in the video but maybe I didn’t. If you’ve already completed the squares then yes, I’d pop a quick stitch it the tip of the petal and tie it to the background. ❤️
Question: I will want to add other squares. Shouldn't we put 2sc in the corners of the last round for that purpose? How do you connect other squares with only 1 sc in the corner?
You can add 2sc’s in the corner if that works better for you. I don’t know if it’s a problem with 3 stitches in the corner . I haven’t had any comments regarding this . But certainly change that if you feel it’s necessary.
I would recommend working a solid granny square to match the size of this square and join them together. Either crochet the two together or use your favorite seaming method. 💕
No, sorry, there is not a written pattern . This was just a requested video for those struggling for the written patterns that already exist for this square. There are a few on Etsy that you can check out. I used a worsted weight cotton with this but it was finer than most I use so yours will come out slightly bigger especially if you use a larger hook than 4mm. Finishing by Christmas would depend on how fast you are and what size blanket you’re making. 👍🏻💕
at 20:54 i didn’t even realize i was at the end of the row because i was so engrossed on counting and making sure everything was right that i became so confused on why there was a “random” chain 3.
