So, i am going to be "that guy" and explain Frankenstein's creature, because apparently noone in the chat read the freaking book. You could argue that the creature's name is Prometheus, since that's the book alternative title "the Modern Prometheus", but nobody refers to it by that name. The creature says "I ought to be thy Adam" to Frankenstein, so one might argue that its name is Adam. Nowhere in the book Frankestein calls it monster though,he refers to it as "creature","fiend","spectre","the dæmon","wretch","devil","thing","being" and "ogre". The creature refers to itself as "monster" at least once. So did the residents of an hamlet that saw it. Calling it Monster is correct, but a bit lazy, that's what ignorant villagers called it. Adam would probably please the creature more. In the movie "The Ghost of Frankenstein" the brain of Ygor, played by Bela Lugosi, is inserted in the creature's skull. That's why canonically the creature is now Ygor, if you want to follow the movie canon. That's the origin of the "walk" with stretched arms btw, because Ygor goes blind after the transplant.
