Do people not realise even if we get flying cars everyone has to have a Pilot Licence along with a Driving Licence. How many people would want to waste so much time and money on getting a licence like that. Not to mention the fuel costs.

I have my passion for Robotics/IoT since 9th Standard. A few days back, I chose that I want to become a Robotics Engineering, many of my friends, relatives & even my mother demotivated me that I should choose Computer Engineering (Because they think in India only this branch has jobs/ money) But without any second thought, I chose Robotics & Automation Engineering. But still, I was somehow feeling low (psychology). And this Retro Tech S2, gave me confidence that I am correct, we shouldn't choose education, on how much money it gives, follow your inner instinct 🙂

We have gone so far back in evolving and getting better and more attractive, the past seems dreamy everytime someone looks at it.

I feel like the inherent attraction to the idea of flying cars comes from the tendency of things in the natural world to find the shortest possible path between two points. Like electricity to ground, we want desperately to take the straightest and shortest path from "A" to "B" and flight is objectively the best way to achieve that.

I remember Ginger. I had forgotten it was even called Ginger. I remember the South Park episode and "IT" and was associating the Segway with that name instead. Thanks for reminding me it was named Ginger. Man the hype was through the roof for that. "Cities will be designed around this thing". Yeah. If we lived in a movie future where cities are all self contained in a giant dome and the Segway is the only mode of transportation. Loomo seems like a cool idea I'd like to see expanded on. Like something from a movie. A personal robot that can follow you around is a neat idea. Give it some arms and a tray. Implement its "find my owner" feature to be able to find you via your cell phone or smart watch Bluetooth signal, give it pathfinding through your house or office and the ability to adapt to changing surroundings and it could be really awesome. But then again, what good would it be for? Aside from being able to go to the fridge and bring me a drink or snack, everything else can be solved with an iPad for recording data you might need to record. Implement this technology into a smaller package and market it as a robotic pet. But it would still need a reason for existing other than keeping you company. And unless it's cuddly or can have a conversation you might as well just get a dog or cat.

Lol I have had dreams of flying cars as a child. In those days most family's had 1 car others had none, and very few had more than 1. Even before I saw the jetsons. That's crazy

Having been born in 1969, when I was a kid of the 1970's there was lots of talk about what life will be like in the year 2000. Because back then the year 2000 was a very long way away.... or so we thought. Then I seen this program that came on PBS that was talking about how cars are going to fly and we'll be living more like the Jetson's(Cartoon) then we think.... Well... What they didn't count on is Markets and industries that are making money off how things are right now. How the airline industry had paid lobbyist that kept all other flying machines out of the sky though laws so that put a huge dent in the prospect of Flying cars. So yeah, The main reason you don't have most of that kind of tech is because industries are controlling competition. The car industry is making it harder for Trains on the ground and the Airline industry has all but gutted any notion of ever making it possible for individuals to fly in their own personal flying transportation.

the hoverboard drone at the end was actually pretty dope, imagine if you turned those into a search and rescue drone that flies on its own using GPS and when it finds someone in need of help, they can climb on top and be flown to safety

That last hoverboard has got me really excited about the future!

I love flying...not so much commercial airline flights, which is like riding in a bus. I got my private pilot license in the early 1980s, and loved boring holes in the Texas skies. But I have seen how traffic works out on groubd vehicles. Imagine that 1000 ft above ground. Yikes! So maybe, sadly, flying cars are not such a great idea. But it would be SO much fun!!
