I had a Trio KA 1500 MK2 someone nicked it in 1989 otherwise I would still own it today. It took an Arcam bought in the mid nineties to get the same sound quality . I did pick up a second-hand KA 601 about 15 years ago and that really is a gem and 60 watts per channel.
We all get to the age when we start to buy back what we had or dreamt of as youngsters! I still have my NAD 7020E in the loft. Kenwood marketed their stuff as Trio in the UK because of some trade mark clash with Kenwood food mixers. This was resolved in the late 80's, when they reverted to Kenwood. I think they long ago pulled out of hifi, but still market amateur radio equipment now as JVC Kenwood.

I've had one of these for about two decades now. Properly abused. It has been on almost 24/7 and not a single failure. Fantastic sound, ridiculously robust, drives two 8-ohm elements in parallel, no problem.
They are great aren't they. Also, even back when they were new very good value for the money. Good to know that there is another one out there still giving good service 👍🙂
A nice stroll down memory lane Alan. My first high fi system (bought in 1978 with my twin brother) was a Kenwood Amplifier, Technics Turntable and Advent Speakers. I also had a Radio Shack 8 Track player. My twin brother still has the speakers.
Even though the caps look alright it would be worth the trouble to re cap it -not all bad caps show up as bulging, also any semis that are on a heatsink - re mount them to ensure that the heat conductive medium is working .
@@RetroSteamTech as an electronics engineer i would check the Equivalent series resistance (ESR) before going down the recappp route ... tje cars in these where generally decent but like most if the era time hasn't been kind
