What a great collection! Some classic electronic music tracks featured. Around this time I was trying to make music on my Windows ME Gateway PC using pirated Fruity Loops and recorded clips of freaking Jack van Impe doom prophesizing. Also it was a treat to see my Toyota Echo commercial used in your bumper :D

I graduated high school at the start of the new millennium (class of 2000) and I remember how exciting the 21st century seemed. With the exception of the Y2K scare (which I didn't worry too much about being a teenager who didn't pay much attention to news and world events) the year 2000 was the exciting step into the future with lots of optimism and hope for the future. Then the events of September 11, 2001 happened and it's all been downhill from there. I miss the vanishing memory/feeling of how positive, laid back and chill everything seemed to be up to that point. Ever since there's been a great recession, trumpism, pandemic, inflation and the consequences of climate change to name a few.😞

That Microsoft smart home promo was unintentionally creepy. Did they honestly believe that was how it was going to work? "You're in control of every aspect of your home!" No, actually the computer is in control of your home... and you are not in control of your computer. You don't own the software and are only allowed to use it by the good graces of the corporation, depending on what feature set you've paid to unlock - on a month-by-month subscription basis. The salesman at the door made me laugh. That poor shlub doesn't need to go door-to-door anymore; all he has to do is buy ad time from Microsoft and the system will automatically interrupt the family dinner to make them listen to his sales pitch. You want an ad-free home? That's a premium feature. You'll have to pay.

Wearable tech does exist like smart watches. And smart glasses are being designed but the problem with tech hype is the lack of convenience for people who use them. No one wants to change how they live to conform to a piece of technology they buy. It's why vision pro won't replace smart phones.
