I miss the early 90's PC games. Back then, we were easily amazed by anything. Even hearing sounds coming from our Sound card or seeing more colors on screen was cool.
You have several errors in this video: 1. The version of Another World you show is not the 1991 game. It's the anniversary edition released in 2014 / 2018 which has upscaled resolution and redrawn backgrounds. 2. That is NOT Wolfenstein 3D from 1992. That looks like a mod of the game with redrawn graphics, high res textures and higher overall resolution. The sound and music are not from the 1992 original either. Completely another game. 3. That is NOT Myst from 1993. That's Real Myst released in 2000. It uses a fully 3D graphics engine with 360 view and free movement.
The Myst snippet was a bit misleading, the game was groundbreaking, but not THAT groundbreaking. :D The video shown is realMyst, a game that came out in 2000, not 1993.
Does anyone remember an educational game(~2002-3)where was a alfabethical song with Animals. The most important memory i have is a guy that fluesh tears into his eyes when you exit the game. I can not find .. thanks
Many cult classics are missing here... Rise Of The Triad Star Wars: Dark Forces Star Wars: Rebel Assault II Heretic Phantasmagoria Gabriel Knight II: The Beast Within NBA Jam Mortal Kombat games Aladdin Lion King Prince Of Persia I & II Magic Carpet Terminal Velocity Rayman Witchaven BioForge Creature Shock EarthSiege Comanche: Maximum Overkill Sam & Max Hit The Road Quarantine Formula One Grand Prix Wipeout etc.
Isn't it impressive how many awesome games came out in the 90s? So happy I experienced so many of them (thanks to BBS) in my youth. These days all I play is BF3 for 11y lol...
Not good video because it is historically incorct because you are presenting titles which are highly modified not original like: Wolfenstein 3D, Hexen, Descent and who knows which others that are unknown to me are incorrect to. Another bad pseudo-historical video on RU-vid.
Thanks lucas.. ;) Please prepare a video for us and we will be watching it when you done. If you can find HD videos of 340px games please tell me source. See you later. Thanks for criticsm.
@@redX111t Exactly, which defeats the point of this video. It's like making a video of the "Best of PS1 games" and showing clips of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy....
That was an interesting looking version of Wolfenstein 3D. I've never seen it look and sound like that before. The MS-DOS original looked and sounded different.
It's not the original version, this looks and feels more like Doom. The leap within 1 year from Wolf3D to Doom was HUGE - the video unfortunately gives a wrong impression.
@@surject It's probably a modded version played on an emulator. Same goes for Ultima VII. Wolfenstein 3D had no horizontal scanning, that's why there's no floor or ceiling and all hitboxes are vertical. Doom 1 had the same issue but Carmack and Romero managed to hide it better as they used a different mathematical model for rendering. Their technical genius is still underappreciated. Everyone knows that as the guys behind the games but what they achieved there from a technical point of view was just revolutionary. And we need to remember, at that time PCs used only software-based rendering, GPUs had only a support function, everything was done via the CPU. Amiga and the consoles had dedicated graphics chips. Even Commander Keen was a fantastic piece of work as smooth scrolling was unachievable on PC at that time.
@@cehaem2 Yup. Loved Keen5 and finished it I think. Didn't like the ones before though. The next ones I played were Jill of the Jungle and Jazz Jackrabbit by Epic MEGAgames ;) Always wanted a SEGA system and never got one ;)
Dune1 Dune2, WOlfeinstein, Doom, Duke Nukem, Diablo, Sierra adventure games, Lost Vikings, Warcraft, Starcraft, Eye of the Beholder, Westood adventure, Lucas arts adventure games....
I can't believe Supaplex is on here! My brothers and I were really hooked to it, and later we even managed to create levels for it and shared them in specialized forums and pages! Such good times.
Does anyone remember a pc game from the early 90's that was a big hand that was controlled by mouse and you had to smash or slap bugs that flew on the screen and the screen was all green and red from the blood of the bugs..i used to play in computer class in school..Any help???? pls
hold up hold up. there's no way that's the dos version of another world. did you just grab footage of a modern port? talking about falling at the first hurdle.
Nice collection. Love the montage! Some captures are from remakes of these games, though, right? Like in the case of Another World and Myst. Would be nice if you found the time to do 85-90 which is also part of the golden era of dos gaming. :)
How much does it suck being 40 in 2022, knowing how things were and how things have changed for the worse. The innocence that is literally lost for ever now, with the invention of the Internet combined with a cellphone.
Are these clips of you playing? I'm wondering which version of Master of Orion has background music. I thought it only had music in a few specific screens, but not during galaxy map and colony handling.
Evvvet..
Ha! Crusader - No Remorse I still have the original game here somewhere. Also it is unimaginable to me today how I could be playing DOOM for hours. I mean, seriously? But it was the sh*t back then. 🙂
I know almost all of these games, most of them I played at least as demo, half of them I played as full version, the others I didn't like already as demo, because they are boring, too hard or I don't like the game concept in general (e.g. I don't like 1st person RPGs, space combat games and most car racing games; I did play Need for Speed and Destruction Derby, though). Lots of good games and great classics (Civilization, Monkey Island 2, Warcraft 2, The Settlers, C&C, Doom, SimCity 2000) but if I had to choose one of them it would be Transport Tycoon.
Best of videolarında seslendirme olmaz ki.
@@RetroKafaYT So... "voters or critics" voted for QFG3, one of the _lowest-rated_ in that series, over QFG4, one of the _highest-rated_ Sierra games in general? And above Star Control 2, one of the best games *ever* produced, that is _often_ featured on "best PC games of all time" lists? Sorry, that makes literally zero sense.
Did not remember there was only ONE year between Warcraft 1 and 2. Crazy how fast some games developed back then. They are not fundamentally so different games but still pretty big difference. Some of these musics are really nostalgic to hear every time. Like Dune 2 for example. 90s really were the best times of our lives huh... everything was so new and exciting.
Thank you for the nostalgic, I have look all of video about PC games 1980-1990 but I haven't found the game that I played when I just little kid, only some memory and never remember the name: - It was surviving game at the base with lots of corridor on other planet or earth (like aliens movie) - the protagonist only one person (that us) - like RTS game, it camera angle 45 / isometric - we're defending from lots of alien white slime bubble (really hard to kill even using laser gun) - That alien will start spawning after some time (so we can prepare defending) - we can activate some robot by using terminal to help defend - when the alien invade, at the map will showing that some corridor will turned white (showing the alien position), and if it too many alien then all corridor will turn white and it was nightmare - the game its over when we absorbed by alien white slime bubble Anyone can help the name of game?
