Dawn of War 2 was a good start, but there was certainly much further to go. Relic thought so too, releasing Chaos Rising as its first expansion pack. Can it continue Relic's previous streak of excellent expansions to their games?
Just imagine somehow waking up in the 40k verse, approached by a bunch of marines and the leader of the squad introduces himself as that. That would be instant death for me. Its not even that funny, but i would remember this video and your comment and get myself turned into a pink mist.
Finally here is Chaos Rising! Gotta give a massive apology for the wait, but this one ended up being a lot of fun to make by the end. So is there gonna be another huge wait for the next one? Hopefully not. An update video is long overdue, and I'm planning to upload one fairly soon to talk a bit about what may be coming up in the future. Keep an eye out for it in the coming weeks if you're interested in seeing more from me, including the rest of the Dawn of War series!
Always interested to see more from you, you have a great presenting style and lots of potential. So long as the interest and energy is there, then your fans will certainly be here waiting, and eager for more!
I love that if Cyrus turns traitors it's because of Boreale's sheer incompetence. My head cannon for that scenario is that Boreale's speech from Soul Storm still fills Cyrus with uncontrollable rage 😂
Well, that's a wrap. See you all in 2026 In all seriousness, another superb vid TP, if I wasn't a lifelong fan I'd have assumed these videos were all released weeks apart, such is the consistency in quality, tone, editing etc. It's a great shame we don't see more from this channel but I respect your time and would never want you to be pushed to release more often if your passion weren't behind it.
What are you talking about after all he is the (redacted)nd primarch all records where removed due to (HEAVILY REDACTED LIKE MORE THEN CHAOS FULGRIMS INTERESTS) and that is why you should always wear a helmet
Forever worth the wait, Chaos Rising has always been close to my heart since it was basically my introduction to 40k on a 3 seconds per frame laptop playthrough of the intro, so this was just a walk down memory lane for me. Not to mention the nightmares of 1v1'ing my friend with me being a child in terms of experience and them throwing out a Chaos Lord, Predator and some other heavy unit I'm forgetting that kept my little Eldar twink body pinned. Honestly, had they kept the Dawn of War 2 style together some more instead of watering it down more with 3 I think they'd've been onto something really special here.
I like to think that the Ruinous Powers gave Eliphas a different voice to really drive home his reduction in life from ‘Badass Choas Champion’ to ‘Araghast’s Little Bitch’. I also like to think that Tzeentch enjoys mutating the vocal cords of random Sorcerers to make them sound like _SIIIINDRI._
Reality is that Araghast Sounded like WFC/FoC Megatron and he gave Eliphas a fitting voice for his next endeavors. Unironically this was the period starscream became the best cybetronian leader EVER followed by the humiliating speech he gave to megatron in front of everyone
he's just an mundane human dude... but when you put him in a grim dark futuristic hell warfare that invovles gian bugs, aliens and brainwashed killers with super-suits and he still survives and keeps his cool - and suddenly he becomes awsome and lovable
@@yosefyonin6824 Nah dude, why you hateting on Merrick? Even in a normal setting his sheer grit, deep voice, sarcasm and humor, cameos before he became a playable character in retribution are also good foreshadowing and continuity, the guy survived the whole event of Dawn of War 2 from the base to retribution, not to mention in terms of gameplay he is very versatile and fun.
Whenever you get around to Retribution, I would want you to compare how the Guardsmen in base game & CR compare to the Cadian guardsmen aesthetically since their physical design and voice acting were changed.
AAAAAAGH YOU'RE RIGHT HE'S GREAT! Gotta show some appreciation for him in the next one. Honestly, the only bad thing about DoW 1 & 2's voice casts is that I'll end up neglecting at least one performance, when they're all so good!
The fact that I think "Oh I want to watch some great game review videos" and instantly still think of this channel, only to be greeted by new great videos, is a sign that you are fantastic at making this content mate.
When I watch this it's like I'm back in 2015, having just finished watching the previous ones. No responsibilities, nothing to worry about, can just listen to the funny man talk about the warhammers. And I know for a fact I will be rewatching this one at least a dozen times, as I have with all the others
I won a free copy of the game many years ago from Relic themselves, good times. The Heretics and their worship ability impressed me a lot after knowing their DoW1 versions for so long. I absolutely loved playing Chaos in DoW2 even if I wouldn't get Chaos Terminators until Elite. Surprised at the lack of any mention of YOU HAVE CAP-TIN DIOMEDES but I guess his hammy grandeur will be saved for Retribution.
My favorite track from Chaos Rising specifically will always be 'Dark Calculation' (the ambient version). It feels like a fitting counterpart to 'Angels of Death' which was all about evoking feelings of might, fury, and heroism. Here, the Chaos music feels appropriately dark, twisted, and deranged. It's exactly the music I think of when Chaos shows up in the novels I read
Me, apparently I was the target audience of Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising. I have about 2500 hours across the two (which show up separately in Steam), and a few hundred hours on Retribution. I enjoyed the first game, but 2 is my favourite game of any type (literal, no exaggeration). I love the campaigns, I have finished it on the hardest difficulty, full purity, with everyone equipped with the 'wrong' weapons, both single player and full co-op. Last stand mode is my go-to game when I get home from work, and if anyone has been dragged to wave 20 by a golden Tau or Necron, you have probably played with me. Hope this video brings some more people into the Last Stand queues. Enjoyed the video as always, keep it up.
Speaking of Prime, I learned like a year ago that the voice actor for Avitus also voiced Wheeljack from the same show. No wonder that incarnation is a Wrecker.
Okay thay Strangers of Paradise and Among Us references got me good. We need more 40k and Stranger of Paradise memes. Also Davian Thule saying Among Us made me laugh more than it should.
Good review for sure. Though I would have asked how you felt about the finale in terms of execution, like the multiple endings (Paltry that they were), how well it fit the characters, and so on.
Honestly, I've been considering doing follow ups for each retrospective for a while now, since there's a lot more to dig through on each game, and the comments throughout the years have made some interesting points. Generally, I prefer to keep things skin-deep on the usual Retrospectives. But, I've got some thoughts on the different traitors, so it may be worth doing this when people don't expect me to take 4 years to make a video!
"The Last Stand... no not that one!" YES THAT ONE, BRING BACK THE SABATON Anyway, I love this expansion so much. Good stuff, can't wait until you review Retribution in another 2-3 years!
My favorite thing slighty relating to Chaos Rising is how Ulkair (the final boss) got named dropped in the End and the Death. Its a good nod to this game.
avitus melee build reminds me of the first game's end-bosses, when the game said "they're vulnerable to plasma weapons, bring those" meanwhile tarkus in his terminator armour does the same damage with 3 shots from his storm bolter...
I like that in 2:18, Avitus is the only one with crewmate's outfit showing that in canon he's the traitor and the reason he's betraying the Blood Raven kinda sad one it is.
I pride myself on making my squad so righteous and saintly that it was found martellus was the traitor. and despite not using weapons of chaos and only those purified for servants of the emperor each one of my squad became a veritable engine of warfare capable of mulching even greater demons in moments
Lovely to hear your voice again! 💜 Excellent pacing, quick quips and I learnt more about my other favourite Chapter 🥰 The nostalgia from some side noises were great too!
Glad to see you back. Found you recently and your videos are very entertaining. Would love for you to do a retrospective on Battlefleet gothic Armada :)
At last.... Welcome back good sir, you have been missed. Excellent video as before, though as you yourself hinted the taint of chaos requires some... Retribution to remove. :D o7 Also, 2:18 that's a good one considering what's implied and theorised upon Retribution's campaign cutscenes ;)
Two years ago since the last video? Dang. I did not even know I was missing these vids! (Kinda like old emps ttsd) and these videos keep going strong (Unlike the later half(?) of the emps ttsd)
Insert *"When the world needed him the most, he returned"* comment here Welcome back Kitte- ThunderPsyker!! xD I like DoW1, but wish there are more games like DoW1. Especially with the voice actors, they're so good
