Orca Ti is very cool. It has never missed a beat...I always thought it would one day be a classic and be appreciated. Someone was clearly listening at HQ!
The original came in a titanium case and bracelet variant. If they were to do that again, I would pounce. I have an old titanium Citizen, and that thing is the business, ngl.
I have the original in Ti and love the thing. The thing has been indestructible as a daily beater. Changed the strap after it dried up and cracked years ago, and finally the capacitor about 6 months ago. Didn't realize it was that old. Always wished I had the blue face model, so I guess now is my chance to add to the Citizen collection.
Citizen proves again to be a great company the way they clearly embraced the consumer given nickname of the original Orca with this remake. Quite the opposite of another Japanese watch giant I know of that (last I checked) holds the fanbase nicknames with an air of contempt.
I like citizen watches for their case measurements and ratios. There are some ugly ones but the good looking ones are way cooler than any other brand. I think getting the time a glance needs practice. Indices look wierd but the watch is freaking awesome. One of a kind.
Looks like a kid's watch, good for a 10 year old kid. With those bizarre geometrical indices, semicircles and triangles is like a geometry class! Then the wide hands with bright colors, oversized bezel and numbers, kids are going ape with this peculiarly grotesque contraption. Will I wear it? Absolutely I will! I want to be a kid again, thats what watches do to us! Besides right know I'm wearing a yellow Casio-Oak, who I'm trying to fool? 😁😎
Haha! Great comment! I read “Looks like a kid’s watch, good for a 10 year old kid”. I was going to answer with “and very confident men”… then I saw the rest of your comment and laughed, great comment. Don’t ever lose the kid in yourself, cos you will turn into a miserable old git... and there’s too many miserable old git’s in this world already.
Citizen pricewize their packaging is second to none, got an aviator ecodrive for 120 $ got a box equivalent of at least 500$ watch box worth of any brand!
I got the titanium orca father gave it to me the watch is around 11 yrs old and still running like a beast. accurate and very reliable some like it some doesn't but it is a good watch and very very reliable
if you kinda hv every watches you want, you started to look for something a little bit more different in ur collections this gonna be it. Awesome watch.
Nice review! I just bought it, it wears smaller than expected and is elegant and even suitable for the office due to the slim cave. Sapphire and a slightly larger crown, you could still ask for that, all in all it's great.
First time I saw this watch: "This is a clown watch". Second time I saw this watch: "well, looks interesting and I love Orcas, let's try it". There was no third time, I kept it and it became my favorite in the box. So massive and bright that I keep it on the bedside to check the time during the night. Does it look too big in my small (17 cm) wrist? Absolutely! But who cares? It is just fantastic and unique.
Very cool looking. I'm not sure how much I would like the thickness though. I have other watches that thick and hardly wear them because they feel top heavy.
Nice but I'll want adaptors for strap...what company did you say again? Or any others you think might make adaptors thin enough or suggestions if we get watch how to rock nato strap on it
Citizen's mineral crystal is not to be dismissed lightly. Like you, I was sceptical at first, but I have a Promaster Diver's 200m which I have been wearing 2 or 3 days a week for the last five years and there is NOT one scratch on the glass - I take it on hikes, treks , swimming and use it at work - Citizen's mineral glass is highly scratch resistant.
Too big for my wee wrist and even if they made a smaller version I think it would then lose something. It is pretty cool though and I'm glad it exists for those who can pull it off.
Very timely review Maverick. Will likely get the black/silver now that you’ve shown the watch up close. The stainless contrasts with the black dial really nicely. The all black looks more stealth but wondering if the black coating will fare over time. I would wear the watch and scratches would probably stand out. Thoughts?
Great video! I'm a subscriber and always enjoy your reviews...which has ended up costing me a lot of $$$. LOL. I have a question about Citizen's QC that you mentioned. I have had the same experience with the QC on almost all of my Citizen watches. However, after watching your review on the Citizen Promaster Sailhawk 200 meter Solar Quartz Diver JR4061-00f I purchased one. It's a great watch except the second had does not align with the indices but about 50% of the rotation around the dial. It's the only Citizen I've had this happen to, and I'm a little bit disappointed. I've haven't attempted to contact Citizen Customer Service, yet. How did you handle this issue on the one watch from Citizen that you encountered this with? I'm just curious how this went for you. Thanks again for your excellent videos!
pretty shocked to see the sec's hand hitting all the marks. every other citizen solar i've had over the last 20 yrs have been off on at least a half dozen of the markers. hence i stopped buying them. now maybe i'll reconsider.
Mineral crystal is always used for heavy duty divers, sapphire is just a word which comes from the mouth of pussies, snobs and noobs.Sapphire crystal doesn't mean nothing without perfect dial, anti reflect coating, lume retro reflexion, concaves of the glass,is dial glued or engraved and manny other factors and some brands like Citizen really perfected implementation of mineral crystal which looks very clear on all BN and NY models
Yeah- gotta disagree with you. I’d rather sapphire or acrylic. Once mineral scratches, and it does so pretty easily, the crystal is ruined. Sapphire is so hard to scratch they stay clear forever. Acrylic scratches easily but polished out with polywatch. Mineral crystal though- a scratch is a scratch forever.
i'll pass. I wish Citizen would pay attention to more popular Micro brands . The only reason why micro brands are flourishing is because people are tired of what Major brands are offering. I have several Citizen watches that I love, but it's kinda like looking for a needle in the haystack in my opinion, for some of their nicer watches. Except for their BN0150-XX series, you really have to comb through their offerings.
