Being an older hot rodder and car lover I'm so tired of patina rides,there's nothing wrong to making your efforts look as good as it can

I vote for a full paint job. Patina is overrated😂

I think once you have replaced the quarters and roof, it's probably a better candidate for a full paint job than a patina paint job.

No patina. Your right there, just do it right. Takes twice as long to do it the wrong way. Love the show.

I think "patina" has run it's course, especially on a car like this. The Camaro deserves a nice paint job.

Patina is way overdone & over rated. That car deserves a killer paint job to show off the body lines. Please don't do the patina!

My vote is to paint, perhaps a 70’s hot rodder paint job if you are so inspired with an updated chassis. I enjoy watching you go through this project, and telling us your thought process while on the journey. Honest and informative! Thank you Kevin!

Thanks for the video and a HUGE THANKS for taking the time to speak with me at Goodguys Columbus Ohio! You took the time to have an actual conversation in the building judging street rods. I was the guy retired from Honda and continuing to teach part time to equipment maintenance and engineers. Another audience you are teaching that I am wondering about is the size of is recent retirees as I am. I spent a lot of time working and raising a family of 5 kids. Now I’m making time to work on my projects that were put on the back burner. I think there may be a large audience of us older guys building cars we wanted in high school that we never finished because we had other priorities. Maybe I should attend your classes. THANK YOU! 👍

Please take this car all the way. We want to see how you do this so we can take our own cars from this to something we can drive and take to the occasional car show and be proud! I think patina is the easy way out and I believe if you are going to do all the work of replacing quarters and roof panels, you should put a nice paint job on it to show off how much you put in it. This is a perfect " show us how to build our own cars at home on a budget we can afford" car. God bless!

There’s cars that call for the “patina” or survivor type refresh, I don’t think this is one of those cars… with your skills and this car I would love to see brought up to driver + or even show car status. Maybe you could do a collaboration with some other RU-vidrs for the engine and chassis for a restomod or improved car… just ideas but I would like to see something like that! Thanks for the great content.

Nooooo! Don't do patina on that car. I like some of the patina stuff, but with you changing out the nose and doin all that body work, just paint it a solid color, make it shiny, and run it. To me, a lot of patina cars look unfinished, even though they are. Keep the paint simple and shiny.

Before removing the windshield, spray some foaming window cleaner around the edges. Helps keep the blade from sticking.

Not every car needs a patina paint job. It's been done to death, bring back the shine.

Dirt dobbers make those mud nests in the headliner. Keep all those interior plastics, that stuff is expensive if you need to replace and many of them are not reproduced! Keep it up, enjoying the series

If you're gonna put quarters and a roof on, and seeing that this is paintucation, you should get this ol trashcan looking her best.

I worked in HS education for 12 years. That you’re making a curriculum for auto body is just outstanding. Most high schools in my area teach basic car maintenance and some advanced stuff like brakes and suspension. Few had serious engine tear down and none had auto body. Giving back to the next generation is so important and your channel really gives real world applications.

Consistently in the best content category. I really enjoy how you explain what and why each step is being done and make it seem like a job a lot of us can perform. The little tips and advice, presentation and even the problems makes for great content. Can't wait for the next video.

Yep, I've found too many of those 40+ year old collision shop repairs to be sketchy. You just showed the world they didn't have to be with some basic tools. Personally think that old Camaro deserves a nice paint job.

I wish I had an ounce of your abilities. I am working on an 82 c20 that was my wifes papaws truck. She had lots of memories of it with him even included it in our wedding, but when he was in hospice care he donated it so the family wouldnt argue over who got it. My parents happened to see it a few days later and bought it for me with my promise to pay them back when I sold my truck. I listed my project truck and sold it the next day, and surprised my wife with the truck. It was a farm truck on a dairy farm so it was used and needs alot of work but I hope her papaw can look down from heaven and smile when he sees me out there trying to fix it.

No Shims Required! The hinge to cowl are your forward and backward movements. Your door to hinge are your in and out . There is more than enough play to do the alignment. And both will allow up and down.

Love the channel and I love this build. I gotta say though, for me, the car deserves a full resto, including a full paint job. Keep up the awesome work.

If you ever get the chance, try weighing a Monza Spyder door. They are also ridiculously heavy, and the Monza was considered to be a "small" car at that time. I do feel your pain though. I had a 71 Camaro, and I replaced a wrecked door with one from a 79 Camaro that had power windows and locks. It weighed a ton!

This is fascinating. I am glad you said your committed to see this project to the end. I am anxiously waiting for the next video on this car. I hope you are doing a full paint job. Going as far as you have stripping it down I don't know why you wouldn't do a full paint restoration

Finally a car worth saving, the channels I watch try to resuscitate the old four door cars with two to many doors. Take those beautiful bones and make it the drive-in princess that she needs to be. Ls 427 holley sniper 6 speed two burning daily good date car. God Speed on this one.

I replaced door hinge pins and bushings in my 1974 POS Camaro a lifetime ago. I feel your pain on those heavy doors. I did one hinge at a time and managed to balance the door on a small floor jack and a couple of 2x4 scraps. I thought I'd never get the door aligned. BTW, NEVER use WD40 as a lubricant on hinges, it works for a very short time and then causes the hinges to bind.

I feel like if all or most of the original body panels were good or repairable then maybe. But after replacing half of the metal and doing all the work your doing I think it deserves a paint job.

I love these 2nd gen cars, especially the Firebird. I owned a 79 then later an 80, and those doors have to be amongst the heaviest in automotive history lol. I'm really enjoying this series Kevin, thanks for sharing!

Hey Kevin, I'm really enjoying this series I agree with several of the others Paint it shine it up, show it off. as for the dirt wads you pulled from the head liner those are made by a bee/ wasp called a dirt dauber. I've seen them all my life and best I can tell they don't sting and are non aggressive.

Kevin, One of the best RU-vid videos ever. I'm 75 and only as a hobby restored 29 cars. I'd say 3 or 4 were projects like this one. Good for you to show us all of your skills and knowledge.
