Regarding getting physical pre-orders on time. I've been pre-ordering my physical games from my local GameStop for the last decade. It has always been there on day one, they've never failed me once. I really don't know why you guys rely on online retailers to get a game to you on day one.
I always get games day 1 from Amazon. As a big physical media lover in Australia, where we don't see nearly as many physical releases as other countires, I'm alwaysss importing from the US, UK, Asia or Japan for sweet physical games. I guess Dustin's dilemma is because he does these shows and kind of (but not really) "needs" games day 1, but for me, I'm happy to wait weeks, months or even years for a physical copy of a game over spending money on a non existant digital copy.
Matty I recommend you continue with One Piece, you’re about to reach one of if not the best arc in all of One Piece, that being Ennis Lobby. After that arc you’ll truly fall in love with the show I promise you.

The way Dustin describes Granblue is how I've felt with every Y's title and to a lesser extent every JRPG outside of the big names in the genre, like they're just kind of there, they have the mechanics, they ahve the tropes, they have the archetype of every character I've met in every jrpg/anime/manga before but it just doesn't hit

I really think P3s cast and narrative trumps any of the modern Personas for the simple fact that the crew is actually part of the narrative and doesn't just at some point gets relegated to a narrative stasis, so you can eventually social link them. Minor P3 spoiler: There's soo much more going on with Junpei throughout P3s story than with Yosuke or Ryuji for example - it's truly night and day. Also hottake on Tartarus: I really prefer the flowstate of a huge ass dungeon to the stop-and-go nature of P5s palaces. Don't get me wrong, the dungeon design in P5 is great but I don't really enjoy getting constantly interrupted by Morgana so he can tell me about simple "find one lever in this room to unlock a door" puzzles. The couple of designed dungeons in P3 in comparison aren't great either but at least they're very short and don't try to do much more than to be a fitting backdrop to the story. As I've grown older I kinds started appreciating jrpgs that just commit to the grind instead of constantly trying to break up the flow with redundant dialoge or brainteases. I can just set my own goals, watch the numbers go up and listen to a podcast. Obviously highly subjective though.
I genuinely do not agree with the sentiment that Sony has been arrogant and only rest on it's laurels, the remakes and remasters have, for the most part, been happening to allow for releases during these extended periods of development. Games take much longer to make now than they used to, this is not news and most of the big developers went either late in the last generation or early this generation. During the PS4 era, where one could argue Playstation had no reason to fear Xbox whatsoever, they actually created a fair amount of new IP. They just happened to blow up and people immediately saw them as big IPs such as Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima, Bloodborne or even Until Dawn. Naughty Dog is clearly making a new IP that is probablx set to release next, so is Santa Monica if Cory Barlogs cryptic tweets were anything to go by. It is unclear what exactly Bluepoint is working on but it will be somewhat original going off their statements. I think you guys, understandably, feel that way because you talk about these news all the time. Realistically most of the devs just didnt go this generation yet but most likely will soon. I just don't really see any other publisher go crazy with new IP to point to and compare Sony to. Xbox recently released Pentiment and Hi-fi Rush but these only just happened. Sorry for this long comment, genuinly no criticism to any of you, love the work. Just wanted to offer another perspective.
Yea I really do think Playstation track record shows they give the space for their devs to what they want to make. They invest in the teams, more so than IPs.
I agree with the crew here that PlayStation has been boring this generation. Thankfully this era of gaming has so many interesting indie games. Large publishers need to back off from every game being ultra realistic or a huge open world. Smaller, more innovative games have a place too. Xbox and Nintendo still get it.
@@fotografick i dont have a ps5 yet but Returnal, GoW Ragnarok, Ratchet Rift Apart, Horizon FW, Spider-Man 2, Sackboy Big Adventure, and now Helldivers 2hard to argue they’re boring releases imo They are releasing a lot less games than previous generation but that is a deeper problem in the industry as the cost of game dev has gone up, pandemic has dramatically changed the way devt is structured with a lot now working remotely from home, and the time it takes to release has increased so much
I did play the PS4 versions of some of these games tho. I was very impressed by GoW Ragnarok, but actually the most fun I had with a PS first-party this generation has actially been Gran Turismo 7.
@@solidkwon A lot of the games you mentioned fall into the same category. I want variety! It's boring if all your games are third person cinematic action games. Like where is Sony's version of a Pentiment or Mario Party? Not every game needs to be a 5 year production.
Following Cog and Gene’s recommendation from last week, I’m playing through Like A Dragon before Infinite Weath and man this game is great. It took a little while but it firmly has its hooks in me.
I think that there has been a lot of sensationalist and overly dramatic viewpoints from both the Xbox and PlayStation communities over the past few days. When all is said and done, a lot of people from both camps are going to be made to look incredibly stupid and should be embarrassed with themselves. This whole thing is just pathetic especially when you consider that there is a lot of people who are literally falling for and are choosing to believe in every little thing/rumour that they see, read or hear especially when nothing has been confirmed/verifieid.
@@Final_Dawn Huber is the GOAT. Brad and Huber are a dream team. If Huber leaves EZA though, I think that could well be their end unfortunately. It is already feeling like a sinking ship. I miss all of them, Kyle, Jones, Ben, now Brad... It's just not the same energy anymore but I still love them all and wish them success.
For Persona 3, don't think you're supposed to feel attached to the cast off the bat. They're just like co-workers forced together doing their job (eliminating shadows). In the early parts of the game, you see Junpei or Yukari hanging out doing their own thing with their own friends. Mitsuru is 100% focused on tartarus and shadows and highly encourages you to join SEES. It's a slow burn compared to P4 or P5 where some of your teammates instantly become friends with you.
I honestly prefer this approach because it makes the journey of the game feel stronger imo. Yukari and Mitsuru almost outright dislike each other in the beginning of the game and the payoff of that is so good
Yeah. I wish people would leave their preconceptions of what Persona SHOULD be at the door and approach the game on its own merits. Seeing the P3 cast go from acquaintances to a new found family over the course of the game is very rewarding
1:54:45 You must be crazy if you think that Nintendo is not making new games. Last year they released 3 goty. Totk, Mario Wonder, Pikmin. On top of that there were smaller new games like Fire Emblem Engage, new Warioware game, Bayonetta origins. And yes there are remakes/remasters/releases like metroid prime, advance wars, mario rpg, kirby but people want that. You are complaining about gamecube remasters but not everyone is 30+ year old. Lot's people didn't have game cube or they did not born. Metroid Prime Remaster is a gold standard for a remaster and it fairly priced. Also they try new IP every now and then. ARMS, Astral Chain, Rin Fit Adventure, part time ufo, snipper clip and there were few more.. Even in horrible wii u era they created splatoon. Sorry but Nintendo output in this generation is the best. They have more than 100 exclusive games in their library. Some of them are greatest game of all time. Xbox fans would cut their pinky fingers with dull knife to get this kind of output from Xbox.
Western game companies are dead. Pretty much all the games I’m buying this year are Japanese or Korean. Also bad review of Suicide Squad, Matt. Saying “wait for a sale” is already too much of a recommendation. Also no mention of how terrible the writing is other than “questionable” or sweet baby inc is a fail.
Once you get to the postgame of Granblue it is pretty heavily Monster Hunter in its structure and combat. The main story playthrough is like 10% of the game if even that. The battles once you get past the Very Hard difficulty on the mission hub get very very challenging and the multiplayer feels every bit as amazing as it is in Monster Hunter. Wish y'all had talked about this game when you were maybe another 12 -15 hours in, but hopefully this isn't the last we hear you talk about it

Bestbuy was 3 days late in getting me my Spiderman 2 preorder. The biggest game of the year that I preordered months in advance.....They also gave me Sifu with a hole in the cover. Made me go team digital after that pretty much.
Any superhero/villain game in which all characters mainly use guns is automatically shit as it proves the devs either don't understand the characters or are being forced to shove them into a game that clearly isn't right for them, I wouldn't even give the game the time of day.
I don't know about people saying Sony needs to sort it out like Matty. What games do you want? If you wanted a console that has a lot of those Japanese games to play, which system should people buy according to you? What about their efforts to partner with developers outside of the US to get games like Stellar Blade, Genshin Impact and working with third party like Tecmo to get Rise of the Ronin? Do you think that focus is them being complacent. They let Media Molecule work on Dreams for whatever how long which imo is awesome for people who want to create and experiment, but nobody bought it. They are in the VR space making games for what is essentially another platform. How are they beating xbox when it is owned by Microsoft which is the richest company in the world. Is xbox just beating themselves? If xbox didn't buy Bethesda games, Starfield would have been a timed exclusive on PS just like Ghostwire Tokyo. It's fine if you are more of a fan of the xbox ecosystem. I think most people just prefer xbox because they like the controller better, but you can't act like they aren't doing anything. Until Dawn is being made into a movie, Sony makes movies also. They are finally taking advantage of the resources they have. Until Dawn was awesome, but every game like it after, not so much. Maybe people need to be reminded how good the game and genre is, so the sequel can do better. It might also help similar games in the genre as well. Like Microsoft, some of Sony experiments were too early. I look at something like Home. If they brought that back today, it would probably perform better because of the rise in social media. Would that be them being lazy or doing something innovative?
P5R only peep here! Going in I remembered what Mica said, push as far as you can. So I wouldn't stop until I reached the border floors, that way I had more time to max academics lol. All in all-- I didn't mind tartarus, though there were times where I'd run through a few floors just so I could finish. HOWEVER, I did think there would be palaces or something akin to them in this game. I'm not upset there aren't any, but it was disappointing that tartarus was the only set-up for fights. But damn, that ending though. Fucking crushing..
I used all my rewards to preorder Helldivers 2 from GameStop but they sold their only copy to another preorder. Called for days but no copies. Letting my membership expire next week. GameStop sucks.

Yes, finally, I finally found people saying what I’ve bn saying, that Royal rly makes it a whole new game, and it is sooooo good I have such a nostalgia for Persona 3 tho. I haven’t played it in a loooong time. I still listen to “memories of You” from time to time and get so emotional. I looooved the story and the characters of Person 3. I’m kinda scared of revisiting cause maybe my memory of the game is not as good as the reality…
Maybe the multiplayer is a big factor. I’ve been playing for 10 hours with the boys and we are 30% in! I’m shocked by the reception from what we’ve been experiencing so far. I’d love to hear the perspective of you guys all playing together and see how it hits over a discord sesh just 4 of you? Even if it’s a bad game it’d be an interesting experiment
I must be playing a different Granblue .. I’m playing on hard and I’m having to grind to beat some of the main story bosses. I did put points in all 4 characters I’m using so maybe I should’ve only upgraded the main character.

I thought it was pretty clear that this version of Harley was not the same one from the Arkham games. This is a else-worlds version of all the characters, including Batman.
I feel bad about not being able to get granblue but I hope the publisher get... persona 3+ infinite wealth and next month ff7 rebirth? just there alone is 240 euro- I get granblue on a sale later.

Nah some games look like shit and also play well. Guardians of the Galaxy looked like shit and people ended up liking it. Sometimes the crowd gets things wrong and, journo or not, people will also divert from said crowd. Pick a different game if you want to try and make this point. A better example would be Mario/Rabbids. It seemed like a terrible idea that nobody asked for, but ended up being a great game. Also I specified that it looked bad as soon as we saw the glowing purple weak spots. Prior to that everyone was very willing to give it a chance.
@@JPD2587 maybe I was in different crowds, but the reception I saw of GOTG before release was one of apathy at the very least. Mostly I saw people criticizing the perceived shit marvel dialogue, worries for uninspired unpolished clunky gameplay, comparisons to Avengers, and that all the members looked like cosplayers in Party City costumes. Also the annoyance of how long the trailers were. On this very channel you can see receptions of both before release in previous episodes and I wouldn’t say GOTG was getting a positive response. I agree it wasn’t the same reception as SSKTJL tho, which got absolutely blasted

I bought FF7 Rebirth physical deluxe and digital deluxe just in case my physical copy doesn’t arrive on release day. In certain instances, I will double dip if it is a game that I am extremely excited about. I prefer physical games, but I’m playing Rebirth on release day no matter what so it was worth it for that peace of mind to just buy both physical and digital in this case.
I'm still waiting for an episode of the show, where they discuss a game I'm actually into. Could we have some God of War Valhalla discussion? Spider-Man 2? Resident Evil 4? Maybe a little returnal?
Someone needs to tell these "professionals" that Nintendo doesn't make Pokemon, nor are they involved in the decision making regarding that franchise. This isn't 1997 anymore, the Pokemon Company & Creatures are the ones calling the shots.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Nintendo the publisher of the Pokemon games? They may not be making the games in house but if they're publishing them, they absolutely have a say in the direction things go.
