Porsche 962 chassis 122 helped Dyson Racing to propel its team to the peak of IMSA's GTP class in 1986, and with Skylar Robinson behind the wheel for the 2016 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, another interesting chapter has been added to the car's legacy.
The son of Chip Robinson, who won the 1987 IMSA GTP Drivers' championship piloting a Porsche 962, is a burgeoning professional in the junior open-wheel ranks, and looks right at home with the 2.8-liter flat-6 turbo making 800 hp available under his right foot. Enjoy the second-generation phenom in a short sprint race at Laguna Seca and all the fierce sights and sounds that come with the ride.

I drove this exact car at Road Atlanta in the 90's. I have 2 laps total in it. My family owned and raced it in HSR events.

Back when these were new, I watched them race against the big Jaguars at Limerock. I seem to remember the brake rotors on some of the cars glowing orange!

FYI The Wynns car has a water cooled 3.2 liter motor and is geared for the track.. the Dyson car is a 3.0 L air cooled motor..... The Toyota GTP was the fastest car in the group ( and the fastest GTP car ever) but it blew it's turbo and the driver wasn't that experienced.

Wow! It's not like they dialed back the rev limit for this exhibition event. Watching the other in-car videos and you'll see guys shifting at 7500. That was definitely not the case with Skylar.

The 956/962 engines were developed from the 935 series of engines. Very similar despite variances in displacement.

+Herickson SS ...close my friend. None of these Metzger designed engines had full water cooling. Maybe the GT1 did, which was the ultimate expression of the design .

Compressor surge is flutter while on throttle, this is just air going back through the blades. Find one article that proves no BOV (flutter) to damage a turbo.
