Yes! I painted my whole house in Dove Wing and still a year later I am obsessed with it! I paired it with Evergreen Fog on a board and batten wall. Im pretty proud of myself for picking the same color you have chose, the paint expert!
James I'm so happy I found your channel. I never thought I would encounter someone as obsessed with paint and color as I am. I have learned so much from you. Can't wait to see what you do with the new place!
I am so not into the Grey, yes it looks beautiful in some homes, but it is a prison color that I will never get past…When I picked my paint colors, I wanted a beach color palate even though I live in the woods.. Benjamin Moore = Beach Glass, Quiet Moments, Everlasting and in Our living room I mixed a 2/3 to 1/3 mixture of Everlasting and Navaho white… it all looks beautiful and so so cohesive…. I get many compliments..🙌❤️ The colors make me feel that I am in a serene place, like I do when I am at the Beach…❤️
Thanks for sharing. It's always great to hear what colors you choose to live with. After much research and your review, I used November Rain in our primary bedroom. So happy with the choice. At the last minute, I also decided to paint the ceiling with the same as opposed to a white. Feels like a big calming hug.
I painted my primary bedroom First Light, even when it fell out of favour, and I love it. It doesn't have to look glam, it can look vintage, depending on the accessories you use. From the outside view from my window my room definitely looks vintage. It's also a colour that I feel is versatile. You can use many colours with First Light. Green, blue, white, even black. Wood furniture also looks great with it. Rattan looks great with it as well.
Woo-hoo! Dove Wing! Have it in my north-facing dining room. I had to live with it for a bit but now I love the different looks it gives throughout the day - everything from cream to almost a greyish white. Congrats on the new house!
Hey James - Really feeling your palette! The neutrals are sensitive and low-key and yet maintain some character. The forays into colour equally great, particularly Nocturnal Gray - beautifully sophisticated. Woods are going to look spectacular next to any of these.
You have major expansion going on! Congratulations!!! Hope see a Tour when your All Settled and Ready. "Greeneige" my 1st thought and hoping maybe a dark Forest Green in the mix or trim! Pink and Green are Fab together. First Light - Love it! Guys seem to like Blue/Green Grays ... My darks are Charcoal/Soft Black and that Fab Dark Purple that reminds me of a BlackBerry (the pic with the Staircase), Love That! Just keep a creative thought, enjoy the busy prep, and really expect some Fun! Excited for ya! 🎶🎉 🏠 😘
Very happy for you! Look forward to seeing the colors on the walls if we get the chance. I understand you keeping your work and home life separate and if you keep it private I can respect that, not everyone wants to be a celebrity.🤗😁❤
Hey James! What colors are your kitchen cabinets!!! and what metals did you go with (door knobs, faucet, drawer pulls etc.)? Please share it with us! ☺️
Just found your channel and I love it! Looking for a white for a while now, (it’s tough) and I like your choice. Do you think it would be ok with honey oak cabinets? Love all the colors you chose. Congratulations on your fiancé and your new home!
Congrats on the new home! Love that you guys are adding pink. Nice little pop of colour! I didn't know that saying that was no longer a thing. Either way, looks good. Cheers and Happy Weekend.
Loved these choices. My new house is about 6 ft high now…we are intending to get the builders to paint all the interior white, live with it for a while then decide what colours to go with. If you chose one white which would you go for? I’ve got grey tiled floors downstairs, medium to dark wood upstairs and black doors and window frames? Thanks!
Ok, who’s this elusive fiancé? We like to meet your mysterious fiancé and know what your fiancé thinks about your choice of colours for the new home? Great vid by the way 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ok that was hilarious 'What Agean Teal wanted to be but could *never* be." Twisted I know but it is a small consolation to see Mr. Paint agonizing a bit over wall color (wink) gives the rest of us hope.
So I just moved into a new house and it has the same paint color through out. Kinda light buttery yellow. Is that good or should I paint each room in a new color? Don’t know if a monochromatic color scheme is in or out now!
Beautiful color choices, James! Surprised but appreciative of First Light. Love the bathroom soft grey green! The bedroom will be so restful with Nocturnal Gray. I really like to put dark blues or teals in the bedroom. Yes, we all want to meet your fiance.
Just found your channel! We are moving too and choosing paint colors have been so hard for me🙈 I’m trying to go for a Midwest meets coastal vibe with Edgecomb Gray, Topsail, Sea Salt, & Creamy but not sure what color to paint the main bath yet. Congrats on the new home🏡 P.S. Your camera presence is awesome! That’s goals for my channel haha!
Hi James, I have a west facing house in the country with lots of pine everywhere, floors, some ceilings, doors, skirting. Could you please suggest a colour that would suit throughout? I'm quite happy to go with colours outside of the white/ gray palette but would consider white / grays. Thank you.
Moving sucks...if I may be blunt!! We did it in October. Oooohhh...Atmospheric is a good one, oh and Nocturnal Gray too!! I can't wait for the home tour when you have it all done!! ;-) Great choices James but of course, you are a professional so I would not have expected any less.
A lot of very safe, neutral colors for a color guy. At least there’s some remotely blue-greenish and pink . . . The great thing about paint is that it’s easy to change so it would have been nice to see at least one bold choice.
I know exactly what you mean about missing your old space. I moved 2 years ago. My furniture does not fit the new house, the lighting is different, and even if I put the same colours as I used to have, both these prior scenarios make me think I'll have to change everything to get the proper feel for this house.... I hope it works out for you guys!
Hi I recently moved aswell but outside our house is not painted as yet. I watch your channel everything for ideas but I haven't seen any video that really focuses on exterior wooden handrails , could you do one please ? But in the meantime a reply to this question would be nice , would you say white wooden exterior handrails are out of style ?
I looked online at nearby paint stores and no one seems to have Paper White OC-55 (Aura Bath & Spa) in stock as an off the shelf purchase...all the places I called say it needs to be mixed in the store 1) is Paper White OC-55 available anywhere as an off the shelf purchase? 2) if they mix it in store is there any difference in quality compared to buying it off the shelf?
Revisiting yet another one of your videos. Did you end up with November Rain in your home office? I think you went with a different more darker green or greenaige color 🤔 am I right?
Hello James! I’m a new Subbie and love your content ! I’m painting my house and upgrading my kitchen for the first time. I have chosen dove wing for my main areas wall colors. I’ll take your recommendation and also will go with Super white for trims , doors and baseboard. Do you think it would work well with Sherwin Williams “pure white “ for cabinet colors? And any chance you can tell me what color to use for the ceilings? Did u use dove wing also for ceiling ? Thanks so much !
Hey there, I'm interested in painting my living room white It's currently a dark bland flat gray (previous tenants choice lol) anyway I do have gray furniture and I'm looking for a bright white that doesn't have yellow undertones and I also I'm not sure what kind of finish to use in a living room for example eggshell semi-gloss etc? Any help would be appreciated! By the way I love your channel and all the content and info! So thank you
I have Moonshine picked out for my TV room. It’s a beautiful light gray BUT with the slightest tinge of green. I’d be interested in your thoughts and you should check it out. ❤️ Love talking paint and color, thanks for your channel.
James has talked about Moonshine as a good color for a lot of different rooms so I trusted him and I went with it in laundry room guest bedroom and guest bathroom I absolutely love it good luck with your TV room
Moving sucks, we’ve done it 6 times across the country in 46 years. We just remodeled our master bathroom, it’s almost like moving. I was ( am ) recovering from scapula surgery, this was not the best time to remodel. 2 years ago we did our kitchen, it was butt ugly, we went with Swiss cream and beautiful grey granite, with specks of purple, dark grey, and pearl highlights. Have fun moving.
What no Green??? You have so hyped me on green and you're passing on it? I'm currently painting my exterior evergreen fog. Front door cabbage rose stairs undecided. Why so excited about Dove Wing? I am looking for main floor ideas but never thought about Dove Wing. I was thinking sea salt but now watching you I may re-think that. I've been married 30 years; may you and your fiancé go through life with happiness and love. I'm wishing you all the best it's a very exciting time enjoy every minute
Hi! Huge fan here and long time viewer. I too am a fan of super white for trim and I used it in my home 17 years ago. We are moving to a new home and I plan on using super white again. However I have wainscoting in my dining room. Would you paint the wainscoting super white also? Thank you for your feedback!
What's the Sherwin Williams equivalent of Dove Wing? Also, I just discovered your RU-vid channel and love it! Thank you for sharing your tips and design advice!
I painted my entire house with Dove Wing and the existing trim was extra white by sherwin Williams. My home now looks extremely yellow and I don’t have the money at the moment to paint the trim another color. Any tips?
The colors you fell in love with are various shades of... GREY! I don't care what fancy name they name them, it's GREY! I frankly would feel like I lived inside a cave, especially the dark GREY for the primary bedroom. I know, you love GREYS but I tend to get depressed, looking at vast expanses of GREY on the walls.
@@barbaram77 Definitely not too dark if anything too light, like between being a color and off white and not doing either one any favors and yes faint green. When my granddaughter saw it first time and she’s 11 she said it looks green. It’s in a north facing bedroom that does get some light from the west.
Dove Wing actually looks really nice. I contemplated it and the paint company said to me that it's just another beige, so I went with White Dove. I hated it at first, it wasn't as creamy as I would have liked it, but I lived with it, saw it in different lights, and now I love it. I am not sure I would go with it again, but for now it's good!
I have been seriously considering using Swiss Coffee for my kitchen cabinet color but I'm worried about the yellow showing up too much. I could dilute it to 75% or I could go w another color that's nearly identical but less of a yellow undertone. What paint color would that be? Help!
Any paint with green is a no-no in the bathroom. Bathroom needs to be first and foremost functional. Green makes skin look awful in the room where we spend time trying to look good. Use green somewhere else.
My bathroom is green. I have been an esthetics for thirty years. I don't entertain in my bathroom so I don't worry about color issues. Other areas of my home would be more of a concern. I painted evergreen fog in master bath because I don't need a bright and glaring room to take a bubble bath, brush my teeth or other hygiene concerns. If I wanted that I would get spot lights and a disco ball.
Funny our neutrals are still so fashionable after all these years. Colours have completely disappeared from interiors , everyone seems afraid of stepping out from the neutral palette which I understand is a no risk move.
That is a masterful comment. I will tell my husband who is a Master Sergeant that his title is offensive. I doubt he would care because he us reading a renowned book which is a masterpiece of literature and I am off to a fine arts museum to view the beautiful masterpieces of classic artist while listening to great music if the masters. After that I'm planning our trip to the Masters Golf Tournament next year. I hope I don't offend anyone with my master plan.
