Another thing, Malaysian easily accept people. You might see the malay politician discriminate the Chinese here but on the street the malays are nice and soft spoken person, we live together like brothers.
I am a malaysian living in Melbourne. I always hv goosebumps hearing good comments like yours from foreigners. But sad thing is some groups don't appreciate this and try to cause division among races😢.
Mix marriage between races is absolutely a beautiful event. Combination of language, food, fashion & culture... it's just awesome. We are so blessed to live on the land that have no volcano, no typhoon & no earth quake. And Malaysian people are like a big family. Yes, like a normal healthy family, we love, we argue , we teased & we help each other but if anyone tried to break our family... believe me, we will unite & fight back. Thank you for giving good reviews about Malaysia. May God bless you. Have a blessed day!
I've always believed that Malaysians are like siblings. We fight and argue with each other i.e. the Chinese will say bad things about Malays, Malays will say bad things about the Indians and Chinese etc. But if a foreigner or foreign press say anything bad about Malaysia... Whole of Malaysia, no matter the race, will band together and fight back. Love being a part of the Malaysian family! 😁
@arlenesharida9215 Haha, yeah, that's spot on. Like a big family with up and downs but deep inside of our heart, we all love each other 🙏🤗. Thanks for your comment and I appreciate you 🙏
In Malaysia we have 'balik kampong' and in Indonesia they have 'mudik lebaran', we travel back to our hometown (kampong), where usually our parents live, to celebrate the special occasion or festivals (eids)
There was once a saying: "Germany plays football against another team and in the end, Germany wins". But I am not sure if this is still true. Over the past few years, German football wasn't very successful, and, following the discussion in Germany, there are lots of critics. But let's see how it goes next year during the European Championships :-). Thank you for your comment. 👍
The fact that all of the good things you said about Malaysia are still true makes me very happy. As Malaysia progresses towards becoming a developed society like Germany, I hope that more Malaysians watch your video as a reminder to conserve all the lovely things you described before they begin to deteriorate. The society in the big cities is currently becoming more westernised, whether as a result of lifestyle choices or out of respect for personal space, which has prevented individuals from intruding each other's private spaces. I was able to better understand how different the two societies-old and modern-are when you compared Germany and Malaysia. Malaysia's urban society is now becoming more comparable to that of Germany, as you mentioned in the video.
Thank you. Your warm words made my day!. And yes, while urbanisation is something that cannot be prevented, we should try to preserve as much as possible from positive traditional values.
Our latest problem in Malaysia that is eroding our "we" "social" culture is the size of houses especially apartments and even condo getting smaller and smaller 900sq ft, 500 sq ft. Not even enough space to chill in your room on the floor, barely enough for a bed and a wardrobe. For the Muslims, not even enough space to pray without bumping into the furniture. Inviting ppl over means like inviting 4-6 ppl max. Bye bye to hanging out at home with our big families. We have to rendezvous outside of our home, 'schedule' visits, target family members who have big houses. So yeah, the lax government policies, greed of property developers, and us not standing up to our rights to better living conditions that suit our demeanor, family ties, culture and even religious needs are contributing to the erosion of our unity and strength. SPACE MATTERS.
@@user-wr8pu2xk9z - The high cost of living is the main factor that has changed people's way of life in today's society, particularly urban dwellers. A large family could once be afforded, but because of the high cost of living, many people today struggle just to afford a small flat in the cities, and other people only want to have one or two children. People therefore just look for residences that fall within their price range. Therefore, if they still have the money, any family gatherings like weddings, birthday parties, or just get-togethers should be held elsewhere.
Very very good, right to the spot and unfortunately true and probably will not change soon. I am Swiss - German speaking - and the same things you said goes for here; very difficult to make friends, no smiles and all the other. I am retired, worked for Lufthansa based in Frankfurt, but prefere to live in Asian / Latin American Countries (Thailand, Mexico etc) mainly because of the friendly and welcome poeple. I consider now moving to Malasia for my last years of retirement. Sehr guter Bericht, Danke Andreas, weiter so. ❤Gruesse aus Basel, Schweiz.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. I really appreciate it. I always appreciated the staff in Lufthansa, very professional, and really, no one would mess with them 😅. Come to Malaysia and reach out. It is a beautiful place :-)
I think malaysia is like a house where they are many rooms and each room resided an ethnic in there. For each room one ethnic. But there rooms also for the ethnic that have different religion from the majority. And everyone with different religion will go out from the ethnic room and come into religion room where they discuss the issues related to their religion and spend times with people of the same faith. In that house also there's a living room where everyone can be together and miggle around. But when it's time, everyone return to their ethnic room because there is where their family live in and make them feel like home. Its looks segregated but this is how you keep the harmonious relationship in multiracial country which each group still embrace and stick to their values in the same time have respect toward others.
So many thing Malaysian need to learn from Germany... Automobiles technology Nuclear precision equipment Safety Autobahn Weapon industry Etc All the best to Germany😊
Your points are hilariously true and definitely brought back memories of the many situations I had personally encountered. I still cannot get my kids to eat rice with a spoon! I think you've covered the major points. Thank you for making Malaysia and Malaysians look beautiful!
Malaysia and Malaysians are beautiful, and thank you for your comment. When you say my points are hilariously true..... do you mean, I actually showed humour, as a German? 😂😃
I was in Germany recently. A lovely country, especially how everything was very efficient. Hamburg was especially lovely. However, the biggest challenge, as a non-German speaker, was trying to navigate through the city with everything in German. It was hard to find anything in English. Even the shows on TV were all translated to German. Besides that, enjoyed my trip.
Oh yes, that's what I realized as well when I came from Malaysia to visit Germany. It's terrible for foreign visitors. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Childhoods story..My father 100% will slap me if my friends waiting for me out side while I'm eating something..STOP EATING OR CALL IN YOUR FRIENDS AND EAT TOGETHER.. Teaching to respect and be good manners to everyone..
It's nearly always about installing the right values and beliefs into the minds of the young ones. The outcome of the education is what you see later in life - agree? 😅😄
This list is normal as Malaysian….. even smiling….. I’m surprise German feels weird if smile with no reason…. For us smiling is a sign of respect and love….. 😊😊😊
M a Malaysian and working in the Republic of Croatia & my same building neighbor is German... Hi Peter Schmidt! He is so kind, invited me to his house and served me coffee & cake when I first touched down...
When i was germany hamburg, i lost my phone in a train. I contacted lost and found department, and there ir was, with the officer. Someone who found the phone passed to the lost and found department. Malaysia should learn something from this.
That's also true. Germans are very honest! When I found money in the house I lived with my parents, my mum send me from door to door to ask, if anyone lost it. I could only keep it, when no one came forward and claimed ownership! 😄
Amazing video. Totally agree with number 9. Cultural freedom (hence diversity) is real. I dun see that yet in any other country. I only get to appreciate that after living outside Msia for many years.
Thank you. And yes, i have visited so many countries in so many continents and it's really hard to match Malaysia! Cultural diversity is a thing worth keeping and treasuring!
@@wendyshoowaiching4161Even India ban Thaipusam. Even HK and China don't have extensive 15 days Chinese New year celebration. The jumping on poles move on liondance is a Malaysian creation. Nyonya peranakan in any other country would have been dubbed as cultural appropriation. What cultural freedom, dare you ask?
@@wendyshoowaiching4161 .... I grew up there. And i compare Msia with its neighbours and many countries across the globe. I only understand what is cultural freedom many many years into my adult life. It is not something obvious to Msians cos like I did, it is too often taken for granted. I study the history of Msia more than any Msian I know. I know what I mean by cultural freedom. Most Msians dun. No offense intended to anyone in my explaining. I can challenge any Msian to debate on what I say.
Hidup cuma sebentar sahaja jalani hidup kita dengan gembira bersama insan tersayang senyum buat manusia gembira kita harus gembira kan semua orang yang kita jumpa tak perlu peraturan makan guna garfu atau sudu tak kisah asal kan kamu gembira.
Come to Malaysian buildings and homes, and there will be a water tap and hose next to the toilet. We use water and soap to wash our private parts afterwards. It's simply hygienic. Especially for Malays and Indians. As Muslims, it is required in islam to keep clean and they also perform ablution before performing the 5 prayers daily. I like the practice of using water instead of tissues as I like cleanliness. I find it funny that others who don't practise it yet wash their hands with soap and water. So their hands are cleaner and sweet smelling than their private parts. It's mind-boggling to me. I explained to those who asked why, that if they accidentally touched or stepped on excrement, would it be enough to just wipe it off with tissues? Food for thought. And, yes..the floor gets wet but it's small price to pay for our personal hygiene.
Thank you, Alina, for your beautiful explanation. This was detailed and to the point. I specifically love your description regarding not washing the private parts with water but using soap and water to wash hands. You are so spot on. I really was unsure about the air blower and it's function initially, but now, fully understand why it is the way it is.
No 5: In Malaysia, if someone has a problem smiling, we'd say he has a "Muka Ketat" or tight face. I don't know about Germans though. Maybe an engineering method of spraying some WD40 could work on loosening those tight face muscles a little. P/S: please don't declare war on me. Also, this comment is not sponsored by WD40. Thank you.
Both countries has their own pros and cons and still nonetheless i wish the best for both to my country of Malaysia and Deutschland. Hopefully in the future i can visit Germany 😆
from malaysia love your brandenburg gate. it really symbolic of unite. you guys have a lot of history up and down but it matter. wishful next year i will visit germany. greet me hahah
Thank you for your comment 🤗. Germany history is rich, and it shows. I am sure you will enjoy it. Just stay safe, and stay in the West. I heard the Eastern side is not very tourist- and foreigner friendly, sadly!
1. In Malaysia even after married the children will take care the welfare of thier parent / inlaw parents. 2. Malaysiaan will respect elders either within relative or non family . We call elder Brother, Sisters, Aunty, Uncle, Grandfather/ Grandfather. 3. Malaysian welcome guest / Respect and love to treat foods even to the foreigner either welcome them to the house , restaurant or at workplace . Malaysian culture giving or sharing foods with guest or to others is a blessing. 4. Malaysian love giving warm smiles because we believe is Blessing to other peoples life. 5. Helping others is Blessing to other who really need assistance. We believe once we helpping other with sincerer in futures our life will be ease by other ( Good Karma )
I love zi Germans. They have a dedication for cakes and tea.. they sure know how to enjoy an afternoon.. literally don’t worry, eat your kuchen.. & they have the best bakery ever!
Slightly different, the emphasize is on prospering a society. In order to balance up the poor, the mind set should be everybody gives, then everybody will get, even the rich. If nobody gives, even the richs dont give, then nobody will get, even the richs.
I am sure what you meant by eating ‘ with fork n spoon’ is that we Malaysians use the spoon in our right hand.. to scoop rice n gravy when eating n not using the fork in your right hand to ‘pick’ yr rice…😁😁😉 it is convenient to use the spoon while eating Malaysian meals while eating steaks, fish n chips etc it is easier to handle with the knife in the right hand ……
Spoon is also like a knife here in Malaysia. I thought it's common knowledge but my Arab friends also don't know this. Certain food is soft enough to be cut by the side of the spoon.
If the whole world lives like us in Malaysia.. The world might be a better place to live in.. No oppression by color of skin, religion etc.. Maybe....just a thought...
In Malaysia people always smiling because Malaysia is Muslim country and in true Islamic teaching smile is considered charity. It embeded in most Muslims mind that if they smile they have done good deeds, it affecting the whole country & other races & it became norm. When we smile to others regardless their races as a good friendly gesture it will bring positive impact to the whole nation. With smile, it is much easy to get help or assistance in public when needed.
Football German team is good. Malaysian mostly polite Japanese RU-vid think when malaysian open conversation ask where do you live they feel offended interfere with their life. m'sian don't feel that way some cultural differences maybe not suitable for other countries . I like m'sian way of life progress and relax dont be stressful.
Oh yes, the German football is good but was way better before. They have lost their way, and the way the spotted talents and trained the teams. I know you are referring to @iChang. They are still new to the country but humble enough to learn, and adopt. Relax is a good way. Some wise person once said that you get more done, when you are relaxed. 😄
man... thanks for reminding me of the white flag movement. such a nice thing locals did, been to their FB group and was surprised to see everybody no matter who they are came together and help.
Germans have good desciplin in driving. Malysian dring skill is so terrible.Thw young oneslikes to show off and drulive recklessly. Some drivers uses 2 parking bay to park a car. Many are proud to drive cars with spitlights in the city that blinds oncoming drivers. They dont cate ! Lane jumping os regular offence andany cars doesn't use or at the last moment use an indicators going for a turn. Some places jave triple park. Some blocks resident entrance gate for an errant or to buy food .Our police and JPJ are not strict enough letting cars park in double lines. The worst is noise from modified bikes and cars
RU-vid these days. Subject : World Countries Comparison To compare is to bring two or more things together (physically or in contemplation) and to examine them systematically, identifying similarities and differences ...😊😁🤣😆😍
Sending a mail? I had to write a letter, print it out, put into an envelope, PosLaju it too Germany. Just to get a password 😂 I am serious and it is not just one company or institution! Thank you for asking for clarification.
@@awansx3935 worry about this guy comment? Don't worry It's just a lonely gorilla from Konoha .. Bullying netizen in social media no 1 in The World...🦧
You are right. Malaysians are shy and humble and that is a great trait, isn't it? Sadly, according to my opinion, that prevents the world to see Malaysia as a beautiful country to learn from. Would you agree?
I am teary when you remind us Malaysian help each other during the Covid pandemic and during the unexpected flood in Selangor. Yes, we have no one but each other our fellow Malaysians❤.
German technology and German cars! The best in the world. I think that's due to a higher quality of German's education system. Malaysia still has a lot to learn from Germans.
I think that the German education system has a big role to play in the continuous development of Germany and let to many industrial breakthroughs. Something to learn from for any culture. Thank you for pointing that out!
I was once stuck in a 3 hour standstill in Karak Highway, everyone shut their cars and got out to mingle and socialize until traffic started moving again. I doubt this happens anywhere else.
Now that is what I appreciate about Malaysia. Where else would this be possible? In fact, wouldn't you think it is possible to even form business or personal relation during such events, haha? 🤣
Having grown up with all that values I never realized how amazing we are until you pointed out in such an approach that surely will make others think that we are specials. But one thing for sure, we are not perfect. We made mistakes in the past just to make sure it won't repeat ever.
We all made mistakes. That's normal and human - and it makes us beautiful. But I believe that every country should look outside to see, what they can learn from others, and try to adopt it to their own.
Those points are very true and many Malaysians take them for granted actually...not realising they are very much appreciated by foreigners. Thank you for pointing them out.!!
You know what? There was a song produced by the govt specifically to promote SMILE back in the 90’s when i was in primary school. Not sure what’s the title but it goes like this “Senyum seindah suria yang membawa cahaya, senyumlah dari hati, duniamu berseri”. That’s how important smile is to us Malaysians 😊 Even the govt promotes it
@@asiaminddynamics you are welcome. There are a few newer malay songs about smile (e.g: Senyum by malique and senyum by aziz harun) So yeah. Smile is a big part of our culture ☺️
The "no biggie" attitude and the kindness of most people are things that I appreciate in Malaysia after living almost two years in Germany. I remembered once I had an accident with a car in front of me. It was my fault that I hit the back of the car of a Malay guy. He was very angry at first when he got out of the car. But when he saw my apologetic face, he immediately smiled at me and said "tak apa" which means "it's okay". I gave him my number so that he could let me know the cost of repair. But he never called me.
True, Malaysians do get angry and mad but when the other person knows they are wrong and apologetic, we appreciate it. That is why we smile, cause everyone makes mistakes. How you handled that mistake is what we appreciate.
I think what we Malaysians really needs to protect are our precious rivers, forests and animals. Because our jungles and villages are really beautiful.
Fellow German here. Been in this most wonderful country with my family for 23 years. I can relate mostly to 'not smiling and always complaining' being such a turn-off but whilst Germany may take the crown I also find that is a general trait of Western countries vs Asian countries. Things to add: 11) International school education is much higher in MY, 12) Healthcare system is much better, 13) MY friends are happy for you if you achieve something rather than being jealous.
I lived in Heidelberg before, but I do believe this issue applied to whole of Europe. I always have trouble using the washroom. Even in my own house. My number 11 of Germany can learn from MY would be to install bidet in the toilet. Not everyone would fancy a wet toilet though. But since we've so used to clean our parts with water after done with our business, it's really hard to not have water in the toilet.
An American couple just came back from China complaining they can’t find water gun or bidet in the toilet not like Malaysia. They said in China every where people use tissue paper and not clean hehehe
God created so many races and nations so that we learn from each other...but u pointing out our malaysian best values u saw makes us malaysian realize to treasure our own culture/customs more. Thank u so much. ❤
I have a German friend who is super hilarious in his own way, first time I met him, I asked him what did Germans do for fun and he answered.... fun is a word that doesn't exist in German vocabulary 😂 I have to say my German friends do complain a lot but they're all awesome folks no less!
To add 2. We do used fork and spoon but mostly we use our fingers to eat 10. We use 4 language in a sentence and still made sense 11. We respect other religion. We are free to practice religion without preaching it to people of different beliefs.
I'm always wondering why foreigner think people smile is a unique to Malaysian? Are the people smile to their family and close friend only or is it just their culture to be wary among the people? This is question only, I don't have any intention to offend anyone. Because it's awkward whenever I smile at the foreigner and they give me suspicious eyes. Not all foreigner, but some of them. In malaysia, smile a form of greeting or acknowledge people without words. You can greet people with smile anywhere without words and they will respond with a smile back. Then I watch your video and highlight the smile to people. I didn't know it was a unique traits to have because it's such a natural trait in Malaysia. I hope people all over the world can smile more. When you smile, surprisingly you have the strength to face your day, even if you have an unlucky day. That is my opinion and it does work for me. When you smile, others will also smile too.
Your awesome comment requires a longer response, because you said something which is very true and to the point. And my opinion comes as a German 😃. It is in our bones to be weary when people smile at us. Especially if they are strangers. The instant evaluation comes.... "what does he (and I say he, but it can involve a she) want from me? What is he up to? I got to be careful, they want my money, or more from me." As such, even a natural smile from a Malaysian is evaluated like this. I have the feeling that Malaysians are a kind lot of people. They smile, and are friendly. The warmth of your smile is shown in the eyes..... which is important, of course, as well, because there are smiles on the lips but not in the eyes. But still, because Germans are in a foreign country, out of the water, they can't quite read it and thus, retreat. Do I make sense to you?
@@asiaminddynamics I see. That's sad. to associate a smile with hidden intention. I hope more people can smile naturally and without fear. Who knows, maybe a smile can save someone from drowning in their inner demon.
This point makes me remember Russian for some reason. Russian as a whole also don't smile at people, not saying they're not going to be friendly, it's just culturally they don't just smile to strangers. And I think I've heard someone said, weather also plays a "minor" role. People who come from colder climate rarely smile, people who come from tropical climate smile more easily to people. Their observation not mine.
We do had a bond with our neighbours in the city. Usually every housing area had a community group where we can organise a meeting, celebrating hari raya or what ever festival or any problem arises....
As a Malaysian Chinese, we learned Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, English in school time. And I can speak and read Hockien, Cantonese fluently as well. Pretty common in Malaysia
This is amazing and it amazes me about Malaysia. Malaysia could be a world power just because of the language proficiency of its people. and wow, you are REALLY good if you master all of them. Thank you for your comment 🙏🏼, and I appreciate you for this 🤗
It's not me only. Most Malaysian Chinese can do that. All Chinese can speak Mandarin. We study Bahasa, English in school. That's make 2 languages for sure; and Chinese students studied Mandarin in Chinese primary or secondary school. Indian studied Tamil in Indian secondary school Everyone studied Bahasa in secondary school too. That's make 3 languages officially. For Chinese mostly we speak 2 or 3 Chinese dialects. It depends on families and friends. I myself can speak Cantonese and Hockien. So it's not uncommon for Malaysian can speak 2 or 3 dialects here.
PLUS point for Germany 1) vocational training is as important as Uni degree 2) dedicated and well connected cycling paths 3) well maintained public parks and facilities 4) driving manner 5) well preserved historical buildings
Regarding the malaysia family gathering in the rural parts, malaysia achieve independence 66 years ago. And with rapid industrialisation and urbanisation many of the older generation still lives in the rural parts. So many of the family members will go to their parent's house or grandparents as a meeting point.
I've been living in Germany for 10 year, married to German. I can relate to your points..may I add some more? It bothers me that restaurants here don't have sink to wash hand. I don't want to go toilet to wash hands. My hands got dirty again after i opened the toilet door. Not to mention I lost my appetite after i smell something horrible in the toilet during my hand washing.
Other thing Malaysians can learn from Germans is how to complaint. Complaint can make improvement on something eg. complaining about broken footpath, potholes on roads, poor service etc.
You are right. A complain can be good. But to complain for the sake of complaining is not that good. A complain can be a way forward toward innovation, would you agree?
Its really nice to hear all these wonderful and true things about Malaysia, where we do take things for granted and still complain. Above all I love my country Malaysia.
Agree with you. I always saying this to my family, friends, colleague that, we didnt realize how good Malaysia is until you are venturing out of the country and living at foreign country as an expatriate. Living abroad for many years and travelling around make me love my country more.. And uh.. Yeah, my family are consists of 4 different nationalities, 6 races and different language as 1st language and believe in 3 different religions.. No matter how different its sound, we agreed on one think Malaysia is the best to live in 😅
Thanks for sharing the extraordinary habits, behaviors, social life and other important stuff about Malaysia, it's true that Malaysia is a blessed country and the people are very friendly and helpful to others, just a small and friendly advice for you that you should not compare Malaysia to any other specific country like you did with Germany, you can admire the blessings in Malaysia but please do not put them on one side of the scale and other country on the other side of the scale. There are lots countries same like Germany that are not similar like Malaysia, hopefully you got my point of view. God bless you for appreciation of others kindness and helpfulness.
Thank you andreas for the nice words.. we do have multi-political issues too.. but we see it as a storm in a tea cup.. the calm will come after the storm.. it always does.. coz we are one large family..
Oh yes, this is a huge success, but it came with a lot of struggle, something that is still lingering badly. Wow! I appreciate you and the many comments from your side! You are amazing 😄👊
Even our kings eat with hand. Well only right hand. Long ago a white man ask why do you eat with your hands? The king told them my hand is only be used by me but your fork and spoon are being used by many people.
