Awesome! I can’t wait to see your updates and finished builds. I just got mine a couple of days ago. I have to finish the 68 Charger I’m working on right and hopefully that will give me time to make my mind up on colors because I’m totally undecided.
Being able to keep the damaged one is just awesome. Extra parts and a second decal sheet. I’m really interested to see how the MCW paint does for you. Thanks for sharing.
MCW will do just fine same as Testors. Enamel is just Enamel and can be a trick to use sometimes especially doing wrong like we did with testors for decades thus giving it a bad rep even though it was always user error not the product.
That was a cool bonus and I’m wondering about the MCW enamel. I tried the MCW lacquer and it dried was to fast here in AZ and had texture that I just sanded smooth. That was ok on solid colors but was a pain with metallics. Enamel dries slower so I don’t have that issue here.
Can't wait to see the outcome of these kits! I like how you did the hood on the fox body Mustang. Can't wait to see that one done. Wish they would repop the hardtop version of that kit. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. I'm interested in that one as well but need to stay focused on the 71's. Not as easy as it seems. The only hardtop one I know is the 90 LX drag car notchback. I believe that one is easily found at Hobby Lobby but have not looked lately. I don't think the 79 Pace Car has ever been reissued. The 93 Cobra and 85 SVO have but it's been awhile.
Yea, I got copies of all those. I'm looking for an 87 style GT hatchback. There is the AMT version. I dont know if you seen Gerry C. is working on a coupe body for the 71 Mustang. That may be a use for that smashed kit you got?
Great stuff, i started building mine about a month ago, mine is the Revell Europe version so blue car on the box and extra license plates on the decal sheet, doing mine Ford Signal yellow with black stripes and a tan interior, also got a set of resin Ansen slot mags to go on it, staggered sizes so slightly bigger rear wheels and aiming for a slight rake. Going together well so far, there is a tiny bit of flash on the body just behind the roof gutter on both sides that needs sanded off, apart from that everything is really clean. Already bought another which will probably be blue.
I want one of those just because its the year I was born and I do hope to get one before they are all gone of course thanks for the video. 🙂Thomas over at The Model Hobbyist
Use hardener with MCW paint. It really makes the paint glossy. Normally, I don't buy duplicates of models, but in this case there are so many colors I like, I know I'll be buying at least 2.
Hardener only speeds the drying time has nothing to do with the gloss, that's the built in aspect of enamels. Getting 2 is great to keep one and build the other, that way you always have 1 laying around in case they disappear as they did years ago.
@@animalyze7120 I thought that too, but I've seen a couple of modelers who use MCW regularly, and when they weren't using the hardener, the gloss was diminished. Noticeably different. Hardener is hardener. Its purpose isn't drying the paint. There are other products that can improve drying time. Just saying. I plan on building all the kits I buy, because I want examples of this Mustang model in more than two of the colors offered.
Off to a really nice start. I may have to pick one of these up. I 3d modeled some Ford racing valve covers for someone that would look great on one of these. I wonder if the C1 trans kit would fit on this as a donor.
Hey, You can maybe cut the rear seat from the damaged kit and glue it on top the one in the interior to raise it more. The molded one is very close to the floor and doesn´t looks so good. 😉
Don't feel you have to look only at Boss 351's for some of the details. Mach 1's and Boss 351's share a lot of the same options, like interiors. I don't have one of these kits yet but when I do, I'll be going over it really closely for details. The interior looks like it is the deluxe interior . The center console is the same whether it is an automatic or 4-speed. I believe your comment about the console had to do with the "short" or "half" console. As for the rear spoiler, the kit has the correct angle from the loos of it. The top of the spoiler should be parallel to the ground and too many people make it parallel to the back glass. That is wrong and looks horrible. The kit however looks like the spoiler is too far up the trunk lid. The back edge of the spoiler should be even with the back edge of the trunk lid. No matter though, I'm sure these will look amazing when finished!
The US Boxes are so much better then the German!Folding boxes, stupid!Even the Artwork on the US Boxes is better! This is one of the best kits on the market(and best of that era Mustangs)!Especially for the price! And i guess i go white for mine!
