Revell Peterbilt 359 Conventional Update #2
The engine got a bunch of detail work and is ready to drop into the frame. The frame got a dry brushing and a little bit of detail painting. The chrome that I stripped got a coat of gloss black getting ready for re chroming. And the body got a painted. So a lot got done, but it made for a short update.

Very nice work. You got me into using solder for lines and hoses instead of trying to track down rubber tubing in such small scales which is nearly impossible. The solder is cheap, easy to work with and comes in various sizes. Thank you for making my builds not only easier but more realistic. Keep up the great work.

Not a lot of progress?? Wow, I think you got a huge amount done. Very nice paint on the body. I wouldn't polish it any. Its a truck, not supposed to be glassy slick. Great job weathering on the frame as well! And, awesome work on the engine! You are inspiring me to step up my game in building those diesels. I have a project in mind with a 600 Cat engine that I will definitely use some of these techniques. Great job Mark!

Thank you very much. I was hoping to have the interior painted by now too, but that's going to be a job for today. LOL I think I'm going to agree with you about not polishing the body. I may even shoot it straight down with a bit of dull coat to fade it a bit. That engine has a lot of parts that I had to learn what they were. LOL I'm glad I could give you some ideas.

WOW! Snap Build and go my Butt!! - Your engine rocks along with the rest of your detail work. Alot of work gos into the Rig kits. The color of the cab and sleeper is Great. Now i will be looking to se if i see one that color on the Interstate! Se ya in the shop!🧡

Lot of dark green ones, My Brother truckers is darkgreen I will be looking! Yep when i get something i never did or know much about it does take longer- That is mostly for me. Now this 69 chevelle is just like building the 68. Only change is the lens. @@grandpamarkshobbies

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of dark green, white, and orange. It's funny how you don't notice until you really look. LOL Yeah, isn't it the front turn signals and the side vent windows that changed? I can't remember anymore. LOL

Thank you very much. That gunmetal sprays a totally different color than it brushes. It's a lot darker when you brush paint it.

Those engines aren't very detailed out of the box, but damn you did a fabulous job on it , looks real, back When I was researching big rig engines, I looked up used engine, most of the them are out of the vehicle, and can get good pics, I'm like you don't know what haf of the crap is

Thanks. I looked up used Cat engines and it took forever to find one that was setup like the kit. I'm with you, it took me three days to figure out that the blue thing was the compressor. LOL

The line that comes off the blue air compressor goes to an air dryer. Which, I assume the 359 had. At the very least it went to the primary air tank. I'm not very familiar with the era of semis. That was my dad's generation. I'm also not very familiar with Cat engines. I've only driven 2 from the '90s and hated them. I'm more of a Detroit Series 60 or Cummins guy...preferably the Cummins now.

Thank you. I ended up running it back to an accumulator tank back behind the fuel tank. I agree. I like a Cummins myself. We have a bunch of them on campus in our EMGs.

Yes I re chromed all of mine as the seams were horrible, and why were the sprue points on the side of the radiator grille.

Totally agree. The sprue points and mold lines could have been in much better places. Also those tires are so bad it's not even funny. I have a workaround that I'll film when I get the rims chromed.

Looking good Mark. Hope you're gonna work on those tanks a bit more. It's not like you to leave those lines showing like that. Leave them only if you can't see them...Is XF-60 the one you use for interior color? Motor looks awesome! Thanks for the update.

Thank you. I think the tanks will look real good now. The only thing left is chrome. I do use XF 60 on so many things. It is kind of my go too color. This interior got a mix though. Not sure if I like it or not. I'll have to wait till I do the brown wash over it all.

I just cut the blanket out of an old gray T-shirt. It looks just like a wool blanket.
