May 19th 2005 was the greatest day of my life. Every minute since has been god awful. Let's take a look back at the last good day ever- the release of the final chapter of the Star Wars saga.
The bonus discs of the Star Wars prequels spoiled me. As a kid I thought this level of coverage on the movie making process was standard. I was so disappointed when I started running into great movies that had virtually zero making-of information.
God, I still remember coming home from school one day, hopping on IPTorrents, and seeing "Revenge of the Sith - WORKPRINT" a week before release. It was literally the whole movie, with some very minor sound differences, in near DVD-quality. A WEEK EARLY! I downloaded it INSTANTLY, and then I began to ponder. "I have tickets to see it next weekend. Do I watch it now?!" I sat on it for like two days, and decided, "Fuck it, I will watch the first 20 minutes." I watched up until Anakin says "His fate will be the same as ours!" and I clicked pause, took a breath, and decided... "Hell no, I want to experience the rest of this WITH everyone in the audience." 17 years later, I'm happy I did. I went opening night, watched it, and when we got out of the theater, I surprised my best friend with a burned DVD copy of it. We both went home that night and immediately watched it again. I think I watched it like 5 times that weekend.
I was in 6th grade and my mom took me to see this movie. She had no interest so it was the first time I was allowed to go into a theatre by myself while she watched something else. I remember walking into the wrong theatre and the movie was at the yoda vs palapatine fight. I thought wow this movie really jumps right in. About 5 mins later I realized my mistake hurried to my theatre as it was finishing the credits.
I was only 7 when Revenge of the Sith came out. I was a pretty sensitive kid, so my parents waited a couple of years before letting me see the film. It's probably for that reason that I have very few memories of actually watching the film itself when I was young (I have much stronger memories of watching Attack of the Clones and Return of the Jedi over and over again). The thing that I'll probably remember most about Revenge of the Sith was how much it impacted the budding LEGO Star Wars RU-vid community that I joined circa. 2007. I remember people using pieces of ROTS' absolutely gorgeous score in their own LEGO stop motion movies. ROTS also gave us all sorts of awesome clone trooper designs and people would try to recreate by hand in LEGO by using sharpies, label paper and paint. I miss those days.
@Schadenfraude key words: you were 10 and they was 7. If anything they saw it when they were younger than you, hence the couple years later comment. Also, you're age implies that you are now 27 years old and calling someone mentioning their childhood a "pussy"? I think it's time for someone to grow up
The first time I saw this movie was on an illegal copy that my uncle snagged for me. He covered the running time at the top of the TV with a towel and it would sometimes replay certain parts of the movie. Seeing General Grievous explode and then immediately seeing it again kinda scared me to death at the time
Lol. What are the chances I saw that pirate copy with the double playing scenes as well. And you know who bought it round? My uncle! Strange world hey.
I’m still traumatized by my parents refusing to let me see this god damn movie in the theater for three months because I got detention for thinking it was funny to run backwards around the baseball diamond during gym and for crying in art class.
You were in 2nd grade? Crap I was 13 when it was released. As far as my favorite prequel films this is the best! Also glad someone remembered the Genndy Tartakovsky "Clone Wars", which still holds up. Star Wars has been a huge part of my life, my mom saw the first film in New York City and without her, I probably wouldn't be into Star Wars. Also can neither confirm nor deny when Episode 2 came out that I had the padawan ponytail for Halloween with my best friend.
This movie will always have a special place in my heart. My Dad took my brothers and I to see it at the drive in before he walked out. Never realized how much this movie meant to me until he passed away.
Fantastic video, Definitely a sub from me. I was incredibly hyped for this episode and I still think it’s the best overall. Prequels made me fall in love with the franchise and will always defend them.
I remember being so disappointed when I learned that all of the battle droids and clone troopers are CGI. There weren't even models made for most of the prequel stuff.
@@carlrygwelski586 This is just untrue, the battle droids were made using life-sized models and most of the effects were made using miniatures, especially the sets.
So many things you talked about hit me right in the childhood. -Waiting forever to load the crappy-quality trailer online. -Feeling like time was moving SO SLOW as I waited for it. I had literally never been so excited for a movie before or since. -Enjoying the super extensive behind-the-scenes features on the DVD. -Including a clip from that Jimmy Fallon sketch at the very end. Great video, dude. This took me back in the best way.
Yeah... Still my favorite Star Wars movie, and it makes the series as a whole(BEFORE Disney) so amazing, and games like Battlefront II(2005) is amazing for all the content from this movie, I even still love the PS2 Revenge of the Sith game itself actually, has a kickass final level with the New Hope showdown between Obi-Wan and Vader.
To this day, probably the Star Wars movie I continually go back to. Has it's problems no doubt, but it's just such a ride from start to finish. Tested used XBOX games for my uncle's game shop as a kid, dad ended up getting three of them, Burnout 3, Jade Empire and the ROTS tie-in game. Man, those holiday mornings...
Bro I'm so glad I randomly found your page. You're funny asf. My favorite is A New Hope. The beginning of the epic saga and it was my introduction to Star Wars. I identified with Luke having grown up in the middle of nowhere miles away from the nearest space port
I remember going through a behind the scenes of that movie with my mom late at night, and they had a an extra feature on how they filmed the Obi Wan and Anakin fight, something like filming 10 minutes. I remember my mom was wanting us to go to bed, and I was wanting to stay up, and she wad like “oh its only going 10 minutes, awesome”. Found out the feature was 2 hours, it was like that whole 1 more 10 hour youtube video meme come to life. She turned it off after they went into detail on the catering for the scene. She also would cover my eyes when Anakin told one of the younglings that he was cool and not to come to the jedi temple tomorrow.
Revenge of The Sith is definitely my favourite too, and from what I've seen when people meme or make fun of all the silly dialogue in this movie it's usually in a "laughing with" way and not "laughing at"
i loved Anakin in the third movie because he acts so reserved and distant almost like a priest. someone raised in the same cult like environment as him
I remember goin when younger. I apparently as a baby was brought to phantom menace but this was the first one I have a memory of seeing. I loved grievous I didn’t know about the cartoon but as a kid he was a cyborg with 4 lightsabers. And I loved Wookiees so much that when the battle on kashykk happened and the Wookiees appeared little me yelled “wookiees” in excitement as I stood up wearing a wookie jacket. I loved and still love this film
I saw this movie dubbed in spanish and it blowed me away, didn't understand all the dialogue and acting related memes until i heard the original voices. Showed me how important good dubbers are and thaught me not to instantly consider something better because it's on its original format.
I remember watching this in theaters, but I specifically remember, when the Immolation scene happens after Anakin and Obi Wan's fight, I looked up at my mom who had seen all the star wars films herself, crying. It gave me a semse of how important this was to people, and later on, ai got entirely sucked into Star Wars beyond just the movies. Star Wars is the greatest IP ever created, hands down.
I happy cried when u played the ROTS trailer man. Glad to relive that fateful may 19 again. Also I got 2 separate copies of the movie on dvd for my birthday
I remember I was 9 when this movie came out and holy crap I remember every detail! Going to like an 8 o clock screening and the line going out the friggin door. Compared to going to see Attack Of The Clones where it was full of kids, this was full of adults who wanted to see… The Final Chapter! Man good memories!
Star Wars episode 1 was the first vhs tape I ever got as a kid. I’ll never forget going to see episode 3 in theaters with my Grandpa. I was in 5th grade. Truly the best years.
I was almost 4 when this movie came out and it was right at the time i started being concious and this movie fucking absorbed me man. Anytime when i think about being that age all i can remember is Revenge of the Sith merchandising and marketing and when the movie came out. All of it was so overwhelming at the time and its a definitive part of my childhood.
Had also started playing video games when i turned 3 and remember getting Lego star wars, Revenge of the sith game, and Battlefront 2 what seemed like back to back on our ps2. My dad and i played ROTS game and Battlefront 2 all the time.
I LOVE revenge of the sith. I remember when it came out my parents would not let me watch it because i was too young, kickass when i finally watched it.
I remember when i got a general grevious action figure back when it was a preview figure wave in February of 2005 and he has remained one of my favorite characters in star wars and otherwise
I was like… 12-13 when Phantom Menance dropped. I was a hardcore fan. Until that movie. That movie threw me off. I love it now and it all makes sense and goes together, but back when I was 12? Nah man. Too old to find Jar Jar funny in anyway, yet too young to care much for the talking points. So I stopped. Read the EU. Didn’t even bother to see Episode 2 or 3 until I was 19 or 20. All because my books weren’t with me and I needed a Star Wars fix. And I could skip 1 too four. So I sat down abs finally watched it all. It was glorious. I felt so dumb for being a “stupid kid” Now years later, I’m in my late 30s, and the sequels are all out. And I’m disgusted. I gave it chance cuz of my stupidly skipping 2 abs 3 so I tried. I just… I don’t even know what point I was making!! Sorry for the rant :(
I still own this game on PS2 and bought the PS3 port on PSN when it was on sale for $5. I loved this game so much as a kid and still thinks it holds up when it comes to the combat.
I appreciate this video. I also was inspired by Star Wars and George Lucas to become a creative type. I saw the making of the revenge of the sith documentary as well when I was a kid and it blew me away to know everything that went into the movie from start to finish.
They made a couple action figures of that Jedi in the beginning of your video, I don't recall that being his name though oddly enough. I believe he was originally in AOTC.
I didnt know anakin was going to be darth vader, it was one of the best moments of my life. Everything suddenly made sense (I was 7 when I first saw the movie)
It is really refreshing to hear from another person that loves this movie. I don’t care that it’s corny, I really enjoy it. I was born in 2002 so I was sadly only 3 at the time so I wasn’t able to experience it in theaters
2003 Clone Wars...yeah. Similar experience, you and I. Just another one excited by "Shaaq Ti has been sent to protect him (Palpatine) but Master Windu has lost contact" passing by.
My bad dude! 😫 I loved the game as a kid, I def want to cover it sometime. Perhaps even all the 2005 Star Wars titles we got. I believe in this video I mention them briefly toward the end too
The first time I watched this movie was on vacation in San Diego. Me and my older cousins had to wait 2 hours though because my little brother wanted to watch some crappy kids movie. It instantly became my favorite movie and still is to this day
I vividly remember seeing this when i was 7 getting all the toys when i was 8 and playing all the games when i was 9 honestly the best movie that ever came out in my life
Welp I got a good story, I was in 2nd grade to. I remember all the hype leading up to the movie, the day of the movie I was feeling a little under the weather. So my mom gives me cold medicine, she informs it might make me drowsy. Didn't think anything of it, I dress up as Darth Vader we go to the theater there are characters and huge star wars fans everywhere. The movie starts everybody starts singing the intro,"duh duh duh duhhhhhhh duh tuh tuh daaawwew". I seen the whole beginning of the movie then soon as the action stopped and it got slow I fell asleep, then I woke up when Darth Vader was rising up for the first time, everybody cheering woke me up along with Darth Vader's"nnnnnnnmmnnnnnnnooooooooooooooo". Welp there is my story hope you enjoyed. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I was only 5 when this movie came out and my memory from watching it the first time is when the Emperor killed Mace Windu I stood up in the theatre and basically yelled, “No, not Mace!”
I like that instead of making the typical movie game(apart from the ROTS game) the games actually showed other aspects of the story and helped add to the universe. Most movie games are bland and just disappointing.
