Revere Beach Tour - Best Massachusetts Beach Close To Boston

I jumped on the MBTA Blue Line from State Street and got off at Revere Beach. The train ride to Revere Beach Station only took 20 minutes, but the smooth sand and sea breeze made me feel like I was a world away from the concrete jungle of Boston's financial district.
One of my coworkers recommended I visit Revere Beach, while another coworker warned me to stay away. After arriving at Revere Beach, I was taken aback by the natural beauty and resort-like atmosphere of the area. Revere Beach has a boardwalk that's conducive to exercise, or simply enjoying the summer breeze.
Revere Beach showed no signs of seaweed or trash. I would say that Revere Beach can hold its own to the beast beaches on Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Block Island, and even The Hamptons.
The condos and apartments overlooking Revere Beach were impressive. Although the luxury condos were expensive, I found Revere Beach real estate to be a great value when compared to other Boston locales. #RevereBeach #revere #boston #eastboston #reverema #bostonma

I was born in Revere in 1942. Some of my family lived down by the beach, we lived up off Park Avenue. In the summer my mother would take us to the beach by bus just about every day and we would meet up with the cousins, etc. The mothers packed lunches and we would spend most of the day there. Back in the 50's there were all type of rides (carnavale), eating spots, bowling alley, night clubs. etc. The big draw was the "Cyclone" rollercoaster also the "Virginia Rail" I saw the beach about 4 or 5 years ago - condo's condo's condo's. I live in Florida, been here over 50 years, same thing down here. They built up the beach front with condo's and it's hard to find a place to just sit and relax. My memories of Revere are wonderful, for me it just isn't the same.

Hey Jacqueline, thanks so much for watching! Revere Beach is such a beautiful place! It's funny you mentioned the condos, I was actually reminded of Florida when walking down the boardwalk. I like how there's so much to do right on the beach - lots of restaurants and ice cream places, all within a short ride of downtown Boston. It sounds like Revere was a great place to grow up. Too bad the rides are no longer there, were they damaged in a hurricane or storm?

Hey Lisette, thanks so much for watching! I agree, Revere Beach is such a special place! Not too many beaches with such a long boardwalk. Lots of restaurants to go for lunch and ice cream after....and the watching the planes land is pretty cool, too! You're lucky to have experienced the amusement park, the photos look amazing!

Revere gets a bad wrap from the 80s and 90s with drugs, rough hoop eared woman and fights. Its nothing like 1985 anymore. Revere Beach is great. However, take the commuter Rail to Rockport, Gloucester to goto some beautiful picturesque beaches. Revere is gorgeous, bu Gloucester and Rockport have cool Marthas Vineyard/Nantucket styled Shopping streets with 99% less snobby people, and more down to earth folk. I recommend it! But I love Revere. Great history, Great everything.

Hey Massachoicetts, thanks so much for the info! I've never been to Gloucester or Rockport, but I plan to make it up there this summer. I like your description of MV/Nantucket style with more down to earth people. Summer can't some soon enough, that's for sure.

Revere Beach is absolutely Gorgeous during the Summer. Has a few bars and restaurants, etc. Both of your co-workers are correct, however. While Revere Beach is gorgeous, should also be noted the Homeless tend to live along the Beach, especially at night in the Summer, and you will see the occasional needle or two. However, from what I can tell, the City is actively trying to keep an eye on the Beach.

Thanks so much for the info, Northeastbaseball! I was very impressed with Revere Beach and wouldn't hesitate to go back again during the day. I agree, it seems like the city is making an effort to market the beach, it seems to be very well maintained.

Though I generally prefer taking the ferry over to Spectacle Island from Long Wharf Revere Beach is lovely. It is rather hard to go wrong in the Boston Area. By the way if you visit Boston for the day consider getting a 1 day pass for 12 bucks. That 2.75 per trip adds up pretty quickly.

I use to go to the rides in like 1975 the clock I guess was there from the 1940s they would rent bathing suits and they had clock to know when to return the swim suit. 1978 snow storm finished the games and bowling alley kinda sad

WOW, I knew about the games on the boardwalk but I didn't know the history of the clock. That's so funny that they rented bathing suits and the clock was there to let you know when it was time to return them. Great and interesting historical fact, thanks so much Deborah!

My girlfriend lives in Medford. Two summers ago she wanted to go to Revere beach and get some lunch, walk around and sit on the beach. First off, the food we got at Kelly's was dog shit. I was looking forward to a plate of fried shrimp and they were all uniform pressed and frozen, thin, dry and disgusting. Her sandwich was gross too. Then we walked around and between the bums, nobody speaking English, the overflowing barrels and the sticky filth and grime it was terrible. Then we went to sit on the sand for a while and watch the ocean. It was like being on some dirty beach in a Third World shit hole with nothing but locals, loud, obnoxious kids and everyone talking loud and yelling in foreign languages. The icing on the cake? When we decided fuck it we had enough, I looked behind me and less than a foot from my hand was a used uncapped needle. What a fucking experience! I hadn't been there in probably thirty five years. Even back then it was nothing great, guidos cruising in cars with loud music and too many people but man, this place has really gone to hell. This past year they had a problem with gangs of kids showing up and fighting, so much so that large groups of police had to be called in to get it under control.
@JonathanBrowneMenzies
@JonathanBrowneMenzies Год назад
Sorry you had such a bad experience. I like Revere Beach because it's so accessible to Boston....no need to sit in traffic and go to the Cape when you can just take the Blue Line. Hope they'll continue to clean the place up because it's really beautiful. Thanks for watching, Justin!
