I think it was the right call, HP up aren't that difficult to find but if you have twelve heart containers you lose almost completely the ability to protect your deal chance

that's sort of the one thing I hate about watching people play isaac online. I am no measure of skill myself, but I am very average at the game and often lose due to panic running into enemies explosives and spike, but I at least pay attention to what items I have and try to use it to my advantage. Isaac tubers like Mattman seem to drop their attention span so often that it's become incredibly annoying when they fuck up literal active items with obvious effects. Forgetting items, I get and can forgive, but forgetting them while talking about plans to do things with your item is really really dumb worse is when Mattman gets negative synergies
Imo, a good void rework would be to simply make it so lower charge items, such as guppy's head, would simply be used the equivalent number of times that 6 charges would afford. For example, Guppy's head would be used 6 times with a void use, box of spiders 3, etc. I feel this is a good way to make it feel like you arent actively using a worse version of your active, sense you still get the activation of those charges. For the sake of this rebalance, timed recharge actives, like candle, would count as a single room charge instead. Candle could honestly be a fun one because you could either go the route of a super damage candle shot or MULTIPLE candle shots. Either one sounds fun imo. It also doesnt basically turn Void into an infinite backpack item.
A void rework that I thought of is that it works like Everything Jar, where you can use it at any charge, but what charge you use it on determines what voided actives it uses. So if you use it at 1 charge it will use all the voided 1 charge actives, but if you used it at 4 it would use all of the 4 charge actives. It would still only void items at full charge though for balance. If that ends up being too bad or something it could also be a thing where the charge you use it on is what actives it uses but also all of the actives with charges lower than that. So if you use it at 4 charges it uses all of the 4 charge actives as well as all of the 3, 2 1, and timed charge actives.
@@IntergalaticWatcherAssociation personally, i dont want void's item charge to actively change. Simply because, well, it's still the void. It still has its own, unique affect. A powerful one, at that. My idea keeps void a 6, so you still need to, be careful WHAT you void early on, but you don't feel like you LOSE value of you void something with a low charge.
9:35 or, what if you can use the void like a D infinity, but with any active you voided. For example, if you voided the Satanic Bible, D6, Telepathy for dummies and Tammys head, you can choose which of those items you could use like a D infinity, maybe nerfed by adding 2 more charges to whatever the original item was at so 6 charge items become 8 charges, 3 to 5, 2 to 4 and so on. The void would also be a default option you can always switch to at any time. The additional two charges would make it harder to use broken items and would at least make school bag useful and not make it a complete upgrade to schoolbag.
Hey Matt, I’ve had a hard time recently, I’ve been through all most every form of abuse in my life and I’ve lost several people. I recently lost my best friend and boyfriend because of a petty lie and I’ve just been down in the dumps. I’ve been reflecting on my life and I just feel like shit all the time now. Anyway sorry for waffling about trauma and shit the point is your videos are part of why I bother to get up every day and I know there are many people including me who are helped by your vids. Sometimes if I feel down I’ll just pop on a Mattman video, stay goated king. (Sorry for the vent I just have nowhere to go to vent) I’m glad you’re doing okay in regards to being sick, I’m happy you make videos for this community. ❤️❤️ Also while you weren’t the reason I started playing Isaac I’ve started screaming at god tier items and pushing bombs because of you lol

speaking of mother, i really wish we could have the runs go past mother mod back when youre not playing your dead god file. it would just add so much more variety in your runs.
Yoo ur void idea gave me even greater idea, hear me out What if, void rework would allow you to circle between active items in your void like you would normally have them (that includes low charge items too), while still charging rest of em by clearing rooms

9:50 I think another interesting option for changing void would be being able to use it when it's not fully charged, like if you had voided a 2 room charge item and used void with 5 charges it would drop to 3 but still use the item. That could make it more versatile and allow one charge items like guppies head to be stacked if it was your only voided item giving intrinsic value to voiding lower charge items.
On the void topic at 10:00. I think another decent idea for it would be being able to swap the charge bar from 1-6 with the active effects only going up to the set charge level
Void could activate smaller charge items = to the amount of times they’d be charged. So Guppy’s head would activate 6 times because it usually only requires 1 charge, box of spiders 3 times etc
Hey Matt, I noticed you like to read comments about useless pieces of information, so I want to tell you that I saw The Wild Robot just because you mention it, because never hear about that movie, and I really enjoy it, so thanks for your random ramblings. It's the best part of the channel in my opinion. Also I think The Last of Us 2 is great. Most of the people that don't like that game is the kind of people who identify with Heath Ledger's Joker.
Heres my idea for void. Dynamic charge use. You can use void whenever, and if the items inside are at or below the current charge for their activation, they are used. So if you have 3 charges, and have guppy's head, box of spiders, and unicorn horn for example, only guppy's head and box of spiders will be used, and all 3 charges will be removed. change the charge cap to 12, and presto. reworked void.

My idea for the void is to make it work sort of like the D infinity, allow cycling between different levels of charges, and for whatever charge you use the void in, it'll use all the voided items that have that charge
9:45 The void should see the voided active items charge if the charge is smaller than voids 2 < 6 then the voids charge goes down by 1 so 5 instead of 6. Then if the active is greater then the voids charge bar the charges go up 1, (new voids charge 5 vs prayer card 6, 5 < 6) so the void goes up 1 charge making it 6 again.

10:05 I think making it so that Void would take the average of total charge count as its charge would be really cool. So if you had both D6 and Box of Spiders voided, you would get (6+2)/2 = 4 charge. It would make the item much more broken but it would be much more fun as well.
9:30 Better idea, what if you could prematurely discharge your void to only trigger the items of that charge or lower, without the actual void effect? Say you have two items voided: a 1-charge and a 6-charge. You could either spam Void after every room for the 1-charge item, or wait until a 6-room charge to use both + the actual Void absorbtion of other items effect
9:30 This got me thinking- What if Abyss worked like Larynx where it could be used at any charge level, but depending on when you use it, it does the effect of all active items at/below that charge (i.e: If you voided D6 and Box of Spiders, you could use it at 2 charges for Spiders, or wait till 6 for both the D6 and Spiders)

10:00 just make it so that you can use the lower charge items when the charges match up with them (even when not full charged) like everything jar. The building blocks are literally there.
your void rework idea is funny because ive had a similiar idea. turn void into a zero charge item which gains more and more charge depending on the highest charge item you pick up. for instance if you pick up telepathy for dummies and a bunch of one charge items, you'll have a two charge void, but if you find a higher charge item you can sacrifice the low charge time for the better item. i think it could turn it into a much more fun item which is actually worth being a Q4, since in my opinion the void is easily the worst Q4 in the game.
