Yes to more thrift haul show and tell Yes to more embroidery Yes to more folk songs Yes to more beautiful transformations of cloth items! Amusingly, I have been using a dress as a pillowcase for the last few days (not changing it's shape, just shoving the pillow in it)
I don’t care what you post. Your personality is what we’re here for! But since you ask If like to know more about, where you live, I’d like to see the farm, house tour perhaps.
So people are sounding off about the anime reference... but I'm LIVING for this Uno content. 10/10. Loved this video! I really love your use of colour. I dress vintage and tend to be very matchy-matchy, but I have less confidence when it comes to throwing together a lot of colours, patterns and textures - you make it look easy, and so lovely! Would definitely watch thrifting videos, clothing videos of ANY kind, and more upcycling (down-cycling? Cross-cycling?) videos. As well as folkloric content of any kind. I guess... just keep making anything? Haha 😄
A little "soul-refreshing" craft i've been doing recently is making these traditional russian hair decorations called "nakosnik" (i'm actually russian hehe) And it's basically a triangle of tough cardboard that is covered in fabric and decorated with embroidery, tassels, beads, ribbons, almost anything, which you would then attach to the end of your braid. It's been fun just sitting down in the evening and decorating them, it's quite therapeutic))) love the pillowcase btw!
I love how your pillow came out. I'm curious now if Rachel Maksy is going to throw down her own Uno card back at you now. That could be fun. Shepard and Maksy Uno craft battle. Who will win?
Hi, a few years ago I thrifted a skirt to use the lace on pillowcases but when I was ready to cut it up I discovered the tags, it was brand-new, so I kept the skirt and shopped my stash for lace.💖
Your pillow case turned out lovely. 🤩 To keep myself centred I am altering my clothes in the evening after work. Right now I'm working on a jacket which I got from a thrift store and which is way too big. Lots of love to you Pretty Shepherd and please keep on making your delightful videos.
I am definitely going to do something similar- thank you so much for the idea! I have a black poly satin dress that is far too small for any of us to wear. I also have curly frizzy hair, and have been wanting a black silk satin pillowcase for years now. It’s not silk, but it will be nice and smooth, which is good enough for now. I never would have thought of it, and would likely have just donated the dress- and it’s not that great a dress anyway, but it does also have nice gold embroidery at the bottom, which would look nice along the top of the pillowcase- I don’t have my face on that part of the pillow anyway, so I can do something decorative there. It’s an awesome idea, so thanks heaps!
I'm 52, and I even got the Jojo reference! This is a good craft as well, to reuse things that may have a blemish or fault on one part, to save the rest of that item by turning it into something new. While I'm waiting for the next Jojo series to be done, I love watching your videos.😁
I tend to take tote bags and turn them into little cushions. I would say that with the rest of the fabric of the the dress, if you don’t want another pillow, you could do something similar and turn it into a cute little bag and have the tassels at the bottom instead 💖 Highly enjoyable video, you were damn adorable and I couldn’t help smiling and giggling even though I’m a zombie (a sleep deprived mum) 💖💖💖 so thank you~!
I don’t know what to say other than: I really like your style. Pretty much everything. You act very cheerful and your clothing style is great (I admire your scarf skills). And may I also offer the opinion the pillow looks great?
This reminded me of an unfinished project of mine, a cylinder cushion in orange cotton satin with red tassels. I wasn't super enthusiastic about it, because the stlye felt a bit pompous to my taste (I didn't pick materials specifically for it, it's an upcycling/stash busting project), and I'm into more homely, handmade kind of things. I am however pretty good at hand embroidery, so this is exactly what I am going to do ! thanks for the remotivation !
Such a lovely video, and such a lovely pillow! I make embroidered pillows a lot, I've actually had to stop because it got to the point where I had so many I didn't have anywhere to put them any longer!
Such a lovely pillow! Tip for stuffing: use scraps of thread and yarn and even small pieces of fabric. If it is too dense you can mix it with the existing stuffing or card it (like you do with wool before spinning). Apologies if I removed an excuse to go thrifting (although doesn't sound like you need one) ☺
Very sweet project. My current project is a bit different in scope- I’m repainting my back deck and adding suns sails! We are turning one end into a playground for my daughter as well. 😁
I love the pillow covering. I'm in the process of crocheting multi-color roses and putting them on hair combs. They are too cute. I was thinking of sending you one or two. I think they would be pretty in your hair.
Love this! I have so many clothes not worn for whatever reasons but kept for sentimental reasons or beautiful fabric. I really should to pick one and make a pillow 💗
Loved everything about this video: your adorable personality, beautiful hair, makeup and nails, fun, pretty outfits, and creative use of a discarded dress to make such a beautiful pillow!
I found a whole lot of wool at an Op shop ..so in the evening I make a few Pom Poms which give me a cheap thrill hahaha .... I added a whole lot to a plaited cord and turned them into a door hanging for a Friends Daughter ...she loved it ...easing myself into crafting one Pom Pom at a time...was alas thinking of Tassels and saw this , will dig in my stash for thread or just make some Big woolly tassels x
You really are a breath of fresh air. Your pillow turned out so well, you have me feeling the crafty itch! Plus, it was nice to get a glimpse of your surrounds in town in Spring, it looks lovely (Autumn here).
I loved your video, the reverse flip-thrift is a great idea, the pillow came out beautifull and those furry helpers are just to cute🥰. Now I'm going to do something with a couple of dolphins I cross stitched arround 30 years ago. I may turn t-shirts my kids loved and don't fit them any more into pollows, it will be a nice surprise for when they come back from school.
It's a song about a girl who is reluctant to marry, and she has been avoiding making her trousseau: "her linens are yet to be woven, her pillows are yet to be stuffed, the feathers are still on the lake, still stuck to the wild ducks" 🦆
Thanks for this video, Anna! I had not thought of embroidering on floral fabric before, but this gives me so many ideas.... I also enjoyed seeing the cats. (Since I'm a new subscriber, I don't know their names yet.) :)
I love this video so much 😊 I’ve been thinking about doing something similar with some old clothes myself and I think I’m going to get right to it now!
Besides the folklore painting I'm working on, I'm doing something I promised my daughter. She had an old Halloween dress she couldn't wear anymore and really liked the sleeves on. So I said I'd copy the top in a better fabric.
I can't believe it: You have that gorgeous long long hair You enjoy sewing You like Edwardian/Victorian stuff You talked about Transylvania (where I am from) You play Red Dead Redemption 2 You also watch Rachel Maksy AND you made a Jojo reference Well that settles it, this is one if the best channels and you deserve more more mooore subs ❤❤❤
