So What is Pulpitis?
- Pulpitis is the inflammation of the pulp.
- There are two types of pulpitis. Reversible pulpitis and Irreversible pulpitis.
- Reversible pulpitis is an acute inflammatory condition which can revert back to it's original state once the cause of inflammation is removed while Irreversible pulpitis is a chronic inflammatory condition of the pulp in which the pulp cannot revert back to it's original state even if the cause is removed.
- Causes of reversible pulpitis can vary. The most common cause of reversible pulpitis being small carious lesions. It can also be caused by occlusal attrition, minor tooth fractures or operative procedures. While causes of irreversible pulpitis are similar to that of reversible pulpitis. Only the causes are now much more exaggerated.
- What is the Treatment of reversible pulpitis? and what is the treatment for irreversible pulpitis? The treatment involves just the removal of stimulus causing reversible pulpitis. The treatment of a tooth with irreversible pulpitis involves either performing root canal treatment on the tooth or extracting the tooth.
