It's the one maneuver I hate doing with our 43' Columbia. That's why we prefer mooring our boat and using our skiff to get to the docks lol. We're currently in Morro Bay replacing those dreaded rear main crankshaft seals on our Perkins 4-108. Great engines that live to leak oil lol. Happy sailing my friends😊👍⛵

Yes that is the challenges of those boats! They are not as easy to dock as this yacht either. Fair winds :)
@wimmol

Now try that with wind and a Dutch flat-bottomed sailing yacht .😂

@@wimmol well I can tell you I would be happy to try. Fail. And learn. ☺️ The reality is, each vessel is her own beast. And with each beast there is a way to tame her. It’s just not always the same way 😉

Nice, but it will be more useful for the people if you do the same under 20kts of wind. Not necessary a storm to show it

@@45DegreesSailing as far as I see, this one is in Marina Kastela Croatia. Excellent manoeuvre, however the Croatians marineros prefer the mooring lines first, and the stern lines at the end. It’s always a fight with them.

What happens when you have no "man at the dock"
@45DegreesSailing
@45DegreesSailing Год назад
When there is no "man at the dock", I wait. One will come. In summer here in Croatia, it is important to wait for dock staff to direct you where to go. Marinas and town piers often have reservations and allocate certain spaces for those, so you cannot just take any space you please. Which is why I wait.

Did you bump the throttle forward a bit at the end? Not fast, but from the top looks like you needed a little power to stop before the pier. Video cuts out before then.
