It's the one maneuver I hate doing with our 43' Columbia. That's why we prefer mooring our boat and using our skiff to get to the docks lol. We're currently in Morro Bay replacing those dreaded rear main crankshaft seals on our Perkins 4-108. Great engines that live to leak oil lol. Happy sailing my friends😊👍⛵
@@45DegreesSailing . Well, if you ever come to the Netherlands, give me a call . I own a 10metre Dutch flat-bottomed sailing yacht , so you can demonstrate it . But , i know fore sure . It's impossible to reverse such a boat in a berth .
@@wimmol well I can tell you I would be happy to try. Fail. And learn. ☺️ The reality is, each vessel is her own beast. And with each beast there is a way to tame her. It’s just not always the same way 😉
Indeed! It’s hard to get the conditions and form to film all lined up! Try this one: Docking stern to in 40knots - Q&A and Commentary with Nick ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A9SzxFnHoiM.html
@@45DegreesSailing as far as I see, this one is in Marina Kastela Croatia. Excellent manoeuvre, however the Croatians marineros prefer the mooring lines first, and the stern lines at the end. It’s always a fight with them.
When there is no "man at the dock", I wait. One will come. In summer here in Croatia, it is important to wait for dock staff to direct you where to go. Marinas and town piers often have reservations and allocate certain spaces for those, so you cannot just take any space you please. Which is why I wait.
Did you bump the throttle forward a bit at the end? Not fast, but from the top looks like you needed a little power to stop before the pier. Video cuts out before then.

@@45DegreesSailing your “educational “ shorts are nothing but clickbait, nobody is watching your 2nd shitty part because the first one was already a complete waste of time. You don’t learn sailing by listenting to this TikTok “my attention span is shorter than my d*ck” videos”. Should I clarify more?
Yes today was very flat. Though all of the fundamentals are the same when there is light or strong wind. I apologise for the way the weather was on this day, I should have ordered a nice 20knots cross wind. My bad
@@felixjones9198 New Zealand 😉 and I’m not sure I qualify as a tourist anymore either! Coming up 7 years in Croatia. @kretkris seems to know all about everything though!
