Hello fellow RU-vidrs and motorcyclists! In this video i am driving a KTM Duke 790 from Andre Motors in Ermelo. KTM had this day planned so you could test drive different KTM's. Thanks for making a Duke 790 video, you are the only person I have found with a video of the bike out in the wild. Most of the other 790 videos on youtube are of the Press Launch event so I appreciate a review from a real enthusiast. I'm in the US so the bike does not release here until Fall, I have already put a deposit down on one and your video helped me make the decision. Keep up the good work and stay safe man!

Thanks for reviewing it (and doing it in English!). Have you ridden the Triumph Street Triple - I'd be interested to know how you think that compares to this KTM...?

Welke van de 2 rijd beter? De MT09 of de Duke 790? En dan bedoel ik trekkracht en snelheid opbouwen?

Vincent Feldkamp de mt09, twee cilinder trekt echt uit ze vering maar de MT zit bij open trekken nog makkelijker op ze achterwiel. Met de 3 cilinder kan je ook hoger in toeren voordat je moet schakelen en kom je dus sneller aan je top snelheid

Thank you for this video! I’m in the position of buying either this or the Mt-09 now. And from someone who has been on both, size wise, torque wise and city driving wise, how would you compare them now a little bit after the test drive?

Also ktm has some really nice power parts bar end mirrors that looks like your Yamaha ones

Merckx gotta say, both great bikes and hard te choose between them. I'd say try them both yourself, big difference is the cilinders! I love 2 cilinder but 3 cilinder has the good from both sides, agressive and high rpm. Mt09 is just little faster in hitting 100 km/h and up. I like the display on the KTM better! Despite the fact that you can change everything on the KTM at the end off the day i'd choose the mt09 because of the more power. 1290 super Duke is a step higher for example, and i'd choose that one over the mt09! Its just little more expensive 😂

Chaser2win just a little bit haha 😂 well thank you for your thoughts. I got both reserved and will pick one when I’ve tried them. I like the fact that the ktm got all the electronics, but the sound of the triple and the torque... difficult indeed!

How does the power compare to the Mt-09?

ChopSticx In top speed mt09 is faster, its a 3 cilinder so the mt09 has more revs. But i think at start they come close with the amount of power

I don’t have a camera yet, hopefully I will be getting one soon. I have a gsxr with the same problem so probably the mirrors will be the same as that. 👍🏻

So I rode the bike today, weather was good. Mirrors are horrendous but the bike is absolutely awesome, it’s actually the 1st ktm I’ve ever rode. Have to try the super duke now or wait as I have a feeling they will release a duke r soon enough!

Well I truly think the Z900 looks boring, I thought the Z800 looked a lot sharper and really think it's a real downgrade on design.

I can agree with that. I even think the the old z750 looked better than both the z800 and the 900. It's just a shame that the 790 didn't end up more like the concept bike. THAT was a cool bike. And a twin? I think you will get bored with it quite fast.

Street machine i had never driven a twin before, i had a lot of fun driving one. Dunno if it gets boring after a while, cant think of a reason why
