not for how heavy modern cars got, 400hp is minimum, camries been making 300hp since the early 2000s..

Camarys only started making 300hp at the crank in 2018 and a whole lot heavier for the v6 .. early 2000 was right below 200hp......

What are you even talking about? I have seen no 3.5 for 2006, its actually the 3.0 with 190hp for 2006 and older. 2007 is when they made a horse power bump to 268 for 2007-2017 models.

Flash forward to 2022, and I'm sure you join the World in the hugely-disappointing new exterior styling and generic interior lol Sadly, Subaru has jumped the Shark and watered down the original recipe. Just like how the last good BMW 3-Series was the E90 era and the last good Infinity sedan was the G37, before Nissan ruined the steering feel in the Q Series with the steering-by-wire system.

2018s are tuned better in performance than the previous sti models. Run a little more leaner. More hp tq atw

If you don't mod it heavily (even if you mod it and use common sense) and keep up on maintenance you will be fine

The older ones are more raw in many ways, but the new ones handle better along with having the nicer interiors. The newest STIs still drive fantastically well and still have the same engine as the older cars so you still get all the same engine character regardless of whether you go old or new. This generation STI is much more livable as a daily than earlier STIs and the Evos...it's driving experience is nowhere near as raw and pure as the analog goodness of the Evo IX or GD STI, but it's still satisfying. Ride quality is tight but not brutal. The interior quality is vastly improved over the earlier STIs and Evos...however, it's still a far cry from a more refined interior on something like the Golf R. It holds up pretty well over time. As is the same case with the Evo, the STI is much faster on twisted roads/road in sub-optimal shape than someone who hasn't driven one often believes. With the 2018+, the new 6-piston front calipers are amazing. It's virtually impossible to get them to fade with even the most spirited of street use. The colors of the painted calipers change slightly after being tracked. However, they essentially necessitate an 18 inch wheel as the minimum size for snow tires. IMO seating position and pedal position is somewhat inferior to the Evo 9 (both of which I think are inferior to the BRZ), but the WRX/STI is still pretty easy to heel and toe. Stock they are usually pretty reliable when cared for...but if not cared for well, they can be a total reliability nightmare. Lugging tends to hurt these engines even worse than most other turbo engines, and they are quite picky about what oils they like for optimal bearing protection. Mod-wise, these engines absolutely need to be tuned after any mods beyond a catback, and if an owner did not update the maps immediately after any other engine modifications, run away from it! It's a gratifying car to own and drive, and one that's still reasonably priced (they hold their value so well that often new costs about the same as used). If you liked the Evo, I think you will like the STI. While they have some similarities, I've always considered them vastly different cars. But that said, if someone really likes one, appreciates the strengths, and accepts the faults, I think they will usually like the other as well. Compared to the WRX, you will probably find you prefer the STI's heavier clutch, heavy (hydraulic) steering, and braking feel.

You get what you pay for in a wrx , don't expect much

I know someone who has a 2015 WRX but spent a week with a 2015 STI. He hated the STI. Bad roads that did not upset the WRX too much, caused major issues with the STI. I guess due to the STI's stiffer suspension. Now if you don't have to drive on bad roads a lot, STI could well be a good fit.

@@paulfairchild8942 Better to just get the STi and throw on a softer suspension and 18" wheels with taller sidewall tires.
