M365 beside Mechanical Disk brake has regen braking as well. When you realise the throttle regen brake kicks in. You can set it to low-medium or strong, also when you press the brake just slighty strong regen brake kicks in and slow the scooter down, if you press the brake farther more then Mechanical disk brake get's activated. So you don't actually need to use mechanicall disk brake at all only in emergency situations. Also M365 has upgradeable Firmware and latest one from Xiaomi unlock 720W peak power. Theere is also hack verison of Firmware that gives 1000W of power. Not to mention that M365 app has tons of useful information about the battery, temps, battery state, capacity, cells pack individual voltages, Electric lock, Range...

I have the ES2 and have ridden 400km through sun, wind, rain, mud and it's still working perfectly.

Why were doing the acceleration test for the Segway with the additional battery installed? You've already stated this improves acceleration, but it increases the cost by another $250 so not very helpful.

It's pretty amazing how much this has changed within 7 months for pricing. So I don't know if the relative price changes hold, and vs. newer models, but I just ordered the Gotrax GXL V2 for Amazon's $298.

I've owned the ES2 for 5 months on hardcore usage in NY for commute purpose. And so far the only issue I found is the front led light when is on the speed drops significantly to almost walking-mode. Then I found out it's the body controller that needs to be replaced which I won't bother doing so but installing a new usb flashing light instead. I also bought the extra battery and can't wait for it!

Have you tested the durability and longevity of the folding mechanisms? So far the thing I like best about the M365 is that its folding mechanism only folds the stem, and not the frame. Those mechanisms that fold the frame worry me.

All of them have some problems, with time will be released better ones, but I think for now I'll buy the es4 ninebot because of the range... But the zoom look cool as well, light and small board with good specs...

Those are nice and cheap scooters, but I want to know how long they can hold before needing a complete checkup or before breaking. I have an INMOTION Lively and I just brought it to a mecanician for a check up after 3 years of perfect and secure usage.

I just bought a GoTrax and it actually reaches 20 MPH in second gear. The motor is a little bit loud, but can climb streets of San Francisco easily. It also rides very comfortable. I used the Ninebot before and you feel SO much bumps ta feels like the scooter will brake, plus the maximum speed I got was 16 MPH. In summary, for me the GoTrax is the best cost x benefit.

Great review, but would be great to include weight limits for each model, and the weight of your testers when achieving the numbers you cite.

I just bought an electric scooter on Ebay. I bought it for both recreation and shopping as I needed a unit that could take a combined weight of 100 Kgs so I could also haul supermarket shopping. As batteries improve these vehicles will find more and more applications.

Also available in 2018 was the Swiss micro scooters Falcon, Eagle and Condor. The Falcon is only 7.5 kg whch is quite light with regen breaking

So, what is the max body weight for each? I am not a small guy but need to get a commute scooter after having a seizure and losing my driver's license for now. Has the Swager 5 improved it's range and battery ever since? It would also be helpful to see if any can be placed into a shoulder carry bag for when you have to get off and on a bus ..

U forgot one small thing about the es2 - it may be the worst at braking, but it technically doesnt count as braking cuz when you "brake" it enables the friction charger therefore charging ur battery a lil bit while braking

I have tried segway ES1 and gotrax xr ultra. ES1 has better acceleration with a top speed of 20 km/hr on sports speed mode and range cover almost 20 km (if you ride 10-15 km/hour). Due to rubber-made tires ( mortar is at front tire and tires are smaller in size compare to XR ultra), you will extremely experience shock and bumpy. I wouldn't recommend it if you use it on the sidewalk. If it's a plain road, you will love it. This scooter has a Bluetooth lock system which is quite impressive. On the other hand, XR ultra gives a smooth ride even on the sidewalk but due to slow speed which is 15 km/hour max, you will be bored. It covers the same range as ES1. The choice is yours to make if you really need a scooter at a low price. I would suggest expending few extra bucks for range, speed, and smooth ride and buy an upgrade scooter. All the best

I'm debating between getting the ninebot ES2 and kick scooter max. Aside from cost, how would both be comparable, in terms of durability and efficiency? I can buy an external battery for both models, right?

I'd love to see torque info or a hill test. I have an M365 and it is great but it does slow down quite a bit going up hills. Hopefully they will bring out a version 2 that has more torque.

I got my Mijia m365 directly in a official Mi Store here in Madrid for 379€ with two-year warranty. Something the video doesn't mention is that you can easily unlimit the speed of this Xiaomi scooter by an android app and get a top speed of 30km/h and a significant better acceleration, being able to scale hills with no problem. Unfortunately battery range decreases a few kilometres, but still I have enough for 20 to 25km

I have an es3 and a m365. Honostly I find my self liking the m365 more because the ride is so smooth. I also added a second battery the range is insanely good.

M365 owner here, You can unlock 800watt mode with an app called m365 freedom. that will give you about 3 times the power that it comes with as long as It was made after January 1018. I have been using that mod since day 1 as the scooter was basically useless to a 230lb dude in Hawaii with hills everywhere. With the mod, It's just okay "for the price its great!" 40%"ish" inclines I still have to push it while full throttle. Less than that I can zig-zag up a 35%... oh range is trash modded with crazy hills I think 3 miles maybe 5 never ran it down all the way. but you can get battery expansion packs. I don't really have an issue with the range or charge times for my use as a coffee or corner store run.

I need the biggest one and the widest for taking my kid at the front. Which one would you recommend me?

I feel the swagtron swagger 5 is a very hard ride over the littlest bumps. It makes a loud noise when hitting bumps. They should definitely add a small shock to the rear.

the most important thing about a scooter, is its customizability! You didnt even mention that... With xiaomi's model, you can instal a custom firmware the unlocks the top speed, disables the autobrake, changes the throttle mode to power mode and most importantly: allows you to give the scooter more power for speed > range!

Your testing of the segway is incorrect. With the extra battery it is the ES4. Your braking and speed tests were done as the ES4 even though you call it the es2.

Excellent review; nicely done. I bought the Gotrax GXL for $400 from Walmart.com in August, 2018. I love it. I commute to work on it and ride it for fun on weekends. My commute is less than 1 mile round-trip, but it is uphill both ways (house is on a hill, work is on a different hill). I weigh 180 pounds, and the GXL does slow down when going up the hills and slows way down on the very steepest part, but I never have to help it along. I am very happy with the price-to-performance ratio. I would love more power, but then it would have cost more and weigh more. With Daylight Saving over, my commute home at 6pm is in complete darkness, but the front headlight is good enough that I don't feel a need to get another headlight. I am finally getting rear facing lights to wear, and I wear a reflective safety vest for my night ride home. I would happily buy the Gotrax GXL again today for $400.

Hi Guys, bought a M365 2018 model with latest firmware 1.42 3 week's ago made 106 KM I have 1.83m 88kg full with full battery 41.36V & 7811mAh (this values change up to 41.43V max I got 1 time 42.7V) Max speed 26km strait road, In my daily routine path I achieve 30km on slightly descending road, returning from work the opposite. Battery level 66% total km performed 8. I like the 365 but you need to make adjustments with 3d printed extras. Also be careful with holes & irregularities on the road. Price 379€ Hope this can help

it is not clear if the test results for the segway are for base version or the version with the extra battery! Imo it is for the latter which makes the segway really expensive.

Xiaomi and Swagtron scooters can be found in Europe under the brand name Archos. They’re 99% identical. I believe some unknown company in china produces them and these companies sell them around the world.

Seeing more of these lately in London on the roads. Law is a bit of a grey area. They look great fun and useful but not sure about the tiny wheels on old roads and with drain pipes etc. Also not too visible in matt black. All part of innovation I guess.

Acceleration test faulty because you had the extra battery on for more power. Should have been stock comparison
