The tank project was developed in the 70s of the twentieth century. The idea was to reduce the size of the equipment and its weight due to deterioration of the armor. At that time, it was believed that a less visible and more mobile tank had a better chance of effectively countering anti-tank weapons. The engineers planned to combine various modifications of the American M60 and throw on top some of the ideas that were used in the development of the German Leopards.
This idea existed solely in theory; a real model was never created.
The first thing that catches your eye and deserves attention is the one-time damage of 360 units, which is one of the highest indicators for a level 8 ST. Taking into account that the AMBT has a drum for 3 projectiles with a CD of 3 seconds, then in about 6-7 seconds it is capable of delivering 1080 units of damage and then takes a long reload (44 seconds).
At the same time, playing as an alpha, he will have an advantage over his classmates. Moreover, in the reloading mechanism, the last shell is reloaded the fastest.
If armor penetration with a basic projectile is simply not bad, then with a special (gold) sub-caliber it is one of the best at the level. It is also worth noting the high speed of the projectiles, which will be a definite plus. For example, the speed of the special subcaliber is the same as the basic one on the Leopard 1.
The speed of rotation of the turret and a bit of UVN are depressing: if the gun is lowered well, then it can only be raised by 10 degrees, which will sometimes be very insufficient if the enemy has a higher position.
Aiming time and accuracy are also mediocre, which forces you to play more at medium or close range, unlike the same Progetto 46, which can afford to snipe in the bushes. It is also worth noting the weak stabilization of the gun when moving and when rotating the turret, but with the help of perks and equipment it can be brought to a quite good state.
The safety margin is small - 1300 units, so the tank does not forgive mistakes. The hull's armor is weak, but the VLD is located at a good angle, which gives hope for ricochets. The chip is in a strong tower, which allows you to confidently play from the terrain and even tank.
But not everything is so rosy:
the tank breaks into the fender;
if the lower part of the tracks is covered with screens, then it breaks through easily from above (along the body);
cardboard tower roof;
the turret is penetrated under the turret and next to the gun mantlet (from 260 mm);
The enormous size of the NLD is difficult to hide, and absolutely anyone can penetrate it.
The maximum speed is only 40 km/h forward, which is extremely low for an ST. True, it will pick it up quite quickly due to its good specific power of 18.06 hp/t. Separately, pay attention to the reverse speed - 14 km/h, so it simply will not be able to quickly roll back. Maneuverability also leaves much to be desired, especially given its dimensions. The review is below average for a ST of his level.
