That button was definitely NOT attached. Lol nothing can get past Vivian. Infomercials really need to up their game. They need to have members of the Vitch squad on their production team responsible for making sure all their tricks are Vivian eye proof lol
Hi Vivian! About using a steamer, I've worked in ladies ready to wear in department stores, and at theme parks in merchandise, since 1981, I have a lot of steaming experience. I've also owned home steamers since about 1987. First you should always use distilled water in your steamer, or iron, it helps the machine last longer. When you use a steamer hang the clothes up some place secure so it doesn't fall down, and at a height you can reach the whole garment. Then put the steamer INSIDE of the clothing up against the fabric and facing you, start at the top (neck or shoulder) and pull down to hem line, using your dominant hand. With your non-dominant hand hold the bottom of the clothing to create a little tension, this helps it go a little faster and easier. For shirts and dresses do the front, and the back the same. For sleeves hold them out by the top edge creating some tension from the shoulder seam, and go shoulder to cuff slowly; but this time with the steamer facing away from your face on the OUTSIDE of the fabric. Check the back of the sleeve to see if you made it through the two layers of fabric, otherwise do the backside too. Collars are tricky, take the shirt off of the hanger and slowly go over it on both sides, then carefully pull the top fold taught, but don't stretch it out. On pants use a pants hanger with clips, or a wire hanger with clothes pins, and hang them from the hem, upside down. This is much easier whether you are putting in a crease or not. Start from the top (hem) to the bottom (waist band), out facing sides, then in facing sides for a crease. For flat legs without a crease do front or back side first doesn't matter. Let the pants hang upside down until they are dry, weight of the waistband helps keep them straight. The most important part of steaming is to go slow, give the steam time to take out the wrinkles. Then let it dry before wearing it, only takes a few minutes to dry. I've done everything from fancy dress clothes to character screen print tee-shirts, without damaging anything but my own fingers. For that always have a bottle of aloe vera gel on hand, personally I recommend Mother Earth brand it doesn't have any coloring or preservatives. I keep a bottle in the fridge so it's cold when I put it on a burn. Also keep a bowl (deep enough to get my whole hand in) with ice and water handy. I dunk my hand for a moment before I put the aloe gel on. Also just like your iron, or coffee maker, every so often you need to run white distilled vinegar through the machine to clean any calcium deposits out, then run clean water through it to get rid of any residue, and the smell. Sorry if this ran long, but I read all of the comments and so many people don't like using their steamers, or irons. I thought maybe it's because nobody actually taught you how to use one correctly. Using them professionally I had to get hundreds of garments done in a 8 hour work day. Or on special request for a purchase. I don't know if new garments still come with formaldehyde on them to preserve the fabric until purchase. If you intend on wearing something the same day, and you purchase it from a full service department store, ask them to steam it for you before you purchase it. If it only has sizing in it steaming it will loosen the fibers and make it more comfortable to wear. Also it will kill any fungalitis left by the last person to try it on. Vivian as usual it was a wonderful video. You crack me up so much I snorted. BTW: The iron had moisture in it because they test them at the factory. To check to see if the sole plate is hot yet, keep a spray bottle of water nearby, and a half yard or so of muslin fabric, (or an old cloth diaper). These also work as a press cloth. To keep the sole plate smooth iron over a foot or two of wax paper (buy it at the Dollar Tree store). The iron needs to be at a high enough temperature to make steam, if it cools down it will spit or drool water. My steam cleaner (I clean the bathroom with) will do that if I don't wait for it to heat up completely after refills. So did my old handheld clothing steamer, before it died. My floor model clothing steamer will spit if the hose isn't kept upright, like while moving the hanger around to get the other side. My iron is a Black & Decker with a Teflon soleplate I purchased around 1992, it cost me $50, and it's still running. (If I ever need a new iron I'm expecting to pay $100 or so to get the same quality.) 😀Thanks for the laughs.🤣 Stay safe, wash your hands, wear a mask, and don't touch your face. May God bless and protect us all from this virus. ☞ 😷 ☚ ✌️
Screenshotting this for later cuz I own a steamer but it doesn’t work as quickly as an iron. It’s certainly easier to use especially if u have something you can’t pull down to iron like curtains or tapestries
@@lorawiese5897 Hi! Thank you so much for the compliment. Sorry I didn't see it sooner. (I had to reboot my phone, and lots of things showed up.) 🙄 😕 I think information should be shared, and passed down from one generation to the next. I've heard that Home Economics class is no longer mandatory in school. Don't understand why, how are kids going to learn the basics anymore? Parents are too busy to teach kids, or don't know themselves. Happy I was able to help you out. 😷 ✌️ 🖖 ☺️
Hey Vivian, I am 70 years old. I love your videos. You crack me up, I love your laugh. Also thank you for testing all these products. You safe all of us money and more money for your videos
Your poor old iron had stage fright :( Actually it was just mad because it thought you were kicking it to the curb so it refused to perform. Be sure the plug the old iron into a different outlet before you get rid of it. Thank you Vivian for helping lead us during this weird time at home.
To test an iron to see if it's hot, get your finger wet then touch the iron if it's ready you will hear it sizzle. This is the way my Grandmother did it so, I've been using this method for years. Works everytime! Love you Vivian 😁
I thought you were very generous by giving it 2 Vivian heads. When it leaked, it failed to me. I'll save my money thanks to the MFP Vivian. Five thumbs up to the Queen of testing 👍👍👍👍👍.
My current iron - corded, has a tendency to leak and when I try to do a steam, it squirts water on occasion. I got mine from Costco, if that makes any difference? So, maybe this XL might not be so bad after all? I need to watch more of Vivian Tries to determine 2 Vivian heads or maybe there is a key to her ratings somewhere??? Is this like 2 thumbs up or 2 out of 5 or 2 out of 10?
OMG!! I just found your page today. I have watched over 8 hours of your content! You are hilarious!! I just subscribed!! I was praying for you while you were washing off the blue face mask ... and cutting your hair.
Wait until you’ve been watching for awhile. When you see items at the store that she has reviewed you go back to refresh your memory before buying lol 😂
Hi Vivian! My name is Stephanie and I’m obsessed with your videos so I thought I should tell you that. 🙃 so glad to see you had a new video out! I can’t wait for your channel to become as successful as JM or SD. You’re beautiful and I love your personality ❤️❤️💛💛
Thanks, I needed a little Vivian to make my day! Wonder how many people will have scalded faces from looking at it when it does one of those random steam bursts?!
I love my steamer! The easiest way to steam, and get all the wrinkles out, is to hang the garment, place the steamer under the fabric, hold the bottom of the garment and bring the steamer towards your body. Works every time!
I pictured you sitting right in front of the tv watching the infomercial at least 20 times to make sure you noticed EVERY detail. I appreciate that lol. I don’t iron, but I enjoy watching reviews with a comedic touch.
Helllllooooo you guys and welcome back to another episode of Viiiviaann tries on this episode of Vivian tries I have for you................... I miss it please bring it back
Yes!!! Was watching your Hex Clad video again and I got this notification! Have a safe holiday everyone. My iron was free. Stole it from a hotel years ago 🤣😂🤣
Gurl, you must have been reading my mind. I just saw this commercial an hour ago and thought Vivian needs to try this! And boom here it is! You ARE a mfking professional!😉

Another great video!! Loved it. Back to the "button" that gets pushed out of the way...it isn't a button. And, if you look at the real button next to it, it is through the button eyelet. While the one they pushed out, well, there was no eyelet. And, the "button" on the other side of the real button is just like the one they pushed out of the way, a flat faced chrystal used to embellish. Sneaky guys...why I don't trust infomercials. 🤷♂️ Again, another great video. I always enjoy them and watched them again with my grandmama. 👍🏼🖤🖤🖤😊
My thoughts say you got a damaged piece, coz it had water when you unboxed it maybe some1 bought it used and then found faulty and you got it. Go back from where you purchased claim for refunds or a fresh new iron. Vivian you are the best mwah. Your fan from kenya.
Been waiting for Vivian, I'm not getting notified when she comes out with a new one.. Just love, love her cuz she says everything that everyone is thinking LMAO..
Love your Videos, Vivian! You get items we'd all like to have, but you do the testing so we don't have to! And your humour makes the videos that much more fun to watch!! 😊😉😜
The trick to using a steamer Viv, you have to pull on your fabric with your other hand. Add some tension, and wrinkled should disappear! I love using a steamer for smaller items rather than pulling out the iron 👍❤️
Vivian caught it! They used some jewels set between the buttons on that demo! Some lightly glued, probably with a hot glue that melts from the iron. Use a cool iron (the XL) versus a screaming hot iron (the other iron) and it looks like something it isn't.
Steaming is just starting to become more popular in UK. Have seen a few more steamers sppearing in the last year or so, but its not that commom here. I iron the hell out of everything. Top tip. If the soleplate of your iron gets burn marks, when iron is on, rub the mark with a paracetamol/tylenol? Tablet (use tweezers to hold it) mark disappears like magic.
Viv I love your videos and watch them all! Your always make me laugh girl! You have to try the cross wave from Bissell. It’s a vacuum and mopping system. It’s amazing!
I listen to you with Bluetooth. I burst out laughing when you realized that you were cleaning up the water on the plugged in base. My husband looked at me like I was crazy!!
I think the reason it was Dripping was because when you're pressing the burst button and it's running out of battery it's partially pushing water out but not bursting so when you put it on the charger and move it the water it tried to push out for the steam burner turns into a little bit of a drip
Another great vid!! Preseason haaaa! The auto shut off feature, lock the iron to the base and tilt the iron with the base. That will reset the iron to turn back on. 😉👍🏽
I’m looking to buy this for my mom and vivían is hilarious. As funny as a She is, she does an excellent review. It was actually very thorough. I really appreciate you taking the time to recreate and prove/disprove all the claims from the infomercial. I wish you the best in your RU-vid channel!
Loved the review. Couple of yrs ago, I needed an iron, so I bought one at Wallyworld. It wa pathetic. I hated it, so I donated it to the thrift store and bought one of the really good OLD ones at the thrift store for $3.99. Can't beat the good old irons with steam. It gets HOT and it steams just perfectly with no leaks.
Did anyone comment on flashing blue base yet? My guess is, you’re supposed to leave the base attached and tilt it since the base acts as the power source for plug-in mode. That’s why it didn’t stop blinking when you pulled it off and tilted it. Hahaha. Your reviews are the best!
My 10yr old son comes over to me and starts watching and was like mommy don't watch pause it (bathroom break) comes back we start watching more you say I'll send it back on the box you'll know it's mine with a Walmart bag stuck too it...Elijah says mom you say this all the time when you buy new "as seen on tv" things 🤣😂🤣😂 I about died laughing I so love your yt 💖
I’m sorry but I lost it when she said... Oh My God! someone stole the iron. LMAO!!! I swear Vivian can make my day. And I don’t even need a damn iron but I want one now. This is why we make sure Vivian gets the big bucks!
I own the one with the retractable cord (9') and I love it. Bought in 2021 from Amazon for 35.99. Love it so much bought one for my daughter my neighbor and my best friend for xmas. This is my second iron bought my 1st from Fred Meyer's 1990 for 12.99. Basic model no bells no whistles 6' cord. It lasted 31 years then just died. I didn't like it but I bought it and was faithful until it died. The XL has me whistle'n dixie. Its only 1 year old, I worry that the digital display will be short lived. Time will tell. Until then...I will enjoy time saving ironing experience. Oh- the steam is Amazing with no excessive dripping or upside down dripping. My color is a metallic grey blue.
I’m impressed! Most irons leak and do the steamer thing, but this seems a lot better. The steam is used for tough wrinkles or when you want to make really defined creases. I use it if I don’t have starch. I want to get this damn iron and I don’t even iron anymore. Lol!
Vivian - reads warning saying "it's hot" expresses amazement that we need to be told an iron is hot. Hello - it's an iron Turns iron on and uses a laser thermometer to check how fast it gets hot - woo it goes above 420 degrees! Vivian - 10 min later touches iron to see if it is still hot. Pulls had away with shocked face - ITS HOT!! Why is it so hot?? OMG that was HOT! Remember that warning Vivian?
I could see this being useful for people who do sewing and crafts. That narrow nose is useful for pressing seams and corners, and the non-stick soleplate is good for synthetic fabrics, fusibles, iron-ons, and possibly fusing plastic bags. It's also cheaper than a Rowenta.
To be fair towards the iron it could happen to any iron the more you pull that steam trigger, the more you build u the amount of water the iron is trying to turn to steam rapidly which takes a turn of heat to make water convert to gas so quickly, but the more times you pull the trigger the less the element that heats to create steam, has less and less time to recover. Now I still don't see this as user error so much as ASOTV not wanting to admit their limitations. No matter what you build or have everything has limitations. You ROCK Vivian! I love you.
Hiii Viv, I bought a fabric steamer when I moved and wanted to steam my mattress to disinfect it, and now I use it for clothes, and (I steam the back of my watercolor paintings on 100% cotton paper and stick it in a book to flatten it out.) I guess ironing would work lol
At first I was excited for this product but after seeing how it leaked so bad I would never buy it. That is my pet peeve with irons😡 Sometimes when they put too many bells and whistles on products it just gives them more chances to fail. Thanks so much for this video 😊
