Yep, the multiplayer is the best part but if you don't have anyone to play with you're forced to do single player.. There is no multiplayer online mode.
There is a workaround for the Goblair area game crashing bug. Press and hold: RB, LB, A, B, X, Y and "Start" to enter a stage select. Not the optimal choice I know but it works for now. I loved Dark Alliance 2 back in 2004 and I still love it today despite this overpriced, kinda low-effort port. The game is solid. It improves upon it's predecessor in many areas, where much of them are subtle but enhance the experience a great deal. The gameplay i far from brainless and gets pretty tactical later on, being able to modify gear adds some much needed depth and the overall combat is just so damn satisfying despite the simplicity. Dark Alliance 2 just feels great even in 2022. My hope is that we will recive the spiritual successor The Champions of Norrath (and it's sequel) ported over as well. Edit: The patch has now released. I can confirm The Goblair area has finally been fixed and is now fully playable.
Now I just need someone to remake/remaster champions of norrath the first game I played with my mom brother and sister all at one time best 3 days of our lives probably less since we were pumped up on coffee
It's crazy how now days its considered normal to go out buy a new released game for it to be buggy and brocken. When this game was first released in 2004 it would have been perfect at launch.
I just don't get the price tags....Why did they think it was a great idea to charge 30 bucks for it? They release old games on GoG for only a few bucks and put just as much, if not more, effort into making those games running on modern pc's again.
$30 is way too much for nothing more than a graphical upgrade and only being able to have 5 saves is ridiculous. If this was cheaper and they implemented a way to allow you to quick slot more than 4 abilities (like Kingdoms of Amalur remaster did) it might be worth buying, but this was nothing but a poor attempt at a quick money grab.
Why do devs release such buggy products? Absolute morons who can't play test the first 20 minutes of gameplay and charge $55 AUD for a 20 year old game. Out of spite I'm not buying even when it's fixed unless it's around $10.
I got both for PS2 and they play just like new I'm so glad I did not sell my large collection of PS2 games off and I have a couple consoles just in case one of them die on me plus I have HD loader so I can play downloaded games off the net on a hard drive.
This game is great but as an MMO player going back to it, it's very easy to break a character. Moon Elf Necro has an ability called Haste which is objectively broken as a spell. My buddy and I cake walked this game but it was still very fun
Love replying the First Dark Alliance on Xbox last year. Brought back memories. But put of buying this one as almost every review says it crashes. I'm kind of hoping they fix that. Champions of Norrath would be welcome down the line to
This is still great, a big reason in my opinion is because it is real time co.bat and not turn based thank God. Unfortunately Baldurs Gate 3 made Lairan Studios is turn based combat, such a disappointment.
The PS4 port seems to be fine, i havent had a crash at all during my run, im in act 3 going to the elemental plains and so far only had 1 enemy break, and zoom out of the level to never return.
there was 2 things i expected to get on this remastered version. the one being info on jewelry and equipment. to see no original information on jewelry, could take away any motive you have to change jewelry from the beginning of the game, to the very end of the game. weapons and gear should also receive extra stats besides damage or defense value. the other thing i would like to see is being able to play new game plus. the game was probly the top 3 or 5 best game ever in 2004. in todays standards, it feels incomplete and lacking of content. it feels like fun for the old experience you had back then. but it feels disapointing for all the extra it never got. 5 out of 10. average at best.
I’m disappointed to hear about all the bugs I really wanted to get this game. It’s also likely a deal breaker if the save spots are account base because I would definitely want to play all 5 characters.
Another crap re-rease just like Dark Alliance 1. I bet the glitches that worked in the original still work. They did on the 1st. I hope we get to see a re-release of Champions of Norrath on PS5.
I don’t understand. You’re not really reviewing anything., it’s a remaster not a remake, which means you’re reviewing the game for what it was at the time. Black isle hasn’t changed anything so they couldn’t have done a good or bad job on it. It is just the game as it was back in what 2004 - 2006?
These games always sucked. Champions of Norrath and Return to Arms were WORLDS better games on the same engine. Better skill trees, upgrades, weapons, modifiers, and 4 player. That's what they need to remaster. It also had online play
I actually like the game but champions of norrath was better but I think for me it’s just nostalgic as these were the games I played with my mom and siblings and I can now replay them with my mom and daughter
I love the rerelease of this game. IT MAKES IT TO WHERE I DON'T HAVE TO BUY A PS2 TO PLAY. ITS A PS2 GAME!!! Y'all need to realize that it was released and meant to be a nostalgic game release, not meant for it to be a NEW game. I think 30$ is more than fair for their EPIC game. Any hate for this game is for those without taste for a true classic. Btw they fixed the patch.
What a huge POS. Why would this old school RPG not come to Gamepass? The second Torment game from 2017 is available on GP. Why flush 30 bucks on this title? For 20 dollars you can roll on over to steam and play V Rising!
