Review: Chandos--40 Mostly Fabulous Years 

This 40-disc set features one representative disc for each of Chandos' forty fun-filled years, and documents the label's evolution from a plucky "indie" featuring rare repertoire, to a "major" player in the classical music world by any standard. Through it all, Chandos has achieved and maintained an impressive level of quality and consistency, while amassing a catalogue that is full of splendid music, much of it (originally) proprietary. You may not agree with every selection in this box, but there's no questioning the significance of the collection as a whole.
