Great review/tutorial...Finally an "American English" speaking reviewer. Those reviewers from GB or wherever have those awful accents that make it hard for me to understand. Thankyou!
I have both the RoarA, & the Roar 2. I actually prefer the original as I prefer to have the unit lie flat, having the highs face forward and the sub face up. The roar was small enough as my tastes go so they did not need to try to make the 2 smaller. What I would have liked to see is a display for playing music off the micro sd, also what I would have liked to see was maybe increase the sound, like maybe add a second sub, and maybe 2 more high drivers in the front. Those are my minor gripes, other than that the unit is fantastic for the price and features, but if I had to recommend one or the other I would recommend the original. One thing I like about the orig is the roar & terra bass buttons are separate, on the 2 they are not which means you have to have the terra bass on in order to turn on roar feature unless I am wrong but as of yet with the 2 I have not been able to just turn on the roar feature without the terrabass.
Thank you so much for posting this video. It was this review that put any doubts I had, to rest. I bought this wonderful speaker on Amazon.com for $145, which I thought was a steal. Thank you again.
Thanks for your comprehensive review. I think that you've underestimated the difference in dimensions. The reduction in size makes quite a bit of difference to its desirability (for me at least). As does the design. I like the new look, lighter size and weight. I would consider getting this now. How does the speakerphone sound?
Dumfries Spearhead Speakerphone for the caller sounds great but for the person talking through the Roar 2, you really need to be quite close for good sound quality.
+Dumfries Spearhead For such a tiny speaker, I think it sounds great! I'm a bit of a basshead so sounds weak in bass doesn't excite me. While the Roar 2's bass isn't as good as, say, the Creative T3300 2.1 system's subwoofer, its actually not too far off. I read it has a frequency range of 47Hz upwards (the Creative T3300 starts from 40Hz & I always max. out the bass knob). I also love the fact that I can record songs onto the micro-SD card. Really cool! Note though that initially, the bass sounds weak, but after breaking in (I did 3 continuous 8 hours louder playback), the bass sounds much better. Remember to use either PC or smartphone bass-boosting app to increase the bass level even further. The mids & highs are clear as well. For such a small package, I can't complain. While I'll always prefer the more solid bass sound of the T3300, on the move though, I'll be able to proudly play booming music wherever I go.
Can you please share your opinion in comparison of Riva S with Creative Roar, in terms of audio quality, loudness & bass? I have to shortlist one out of Riva S and Creative Roar, very soon. Thanks in advance.
+Bharpreet25 It's the same electronics and drivers, just a new enclosure. I don't perceive any difference that would be very easy to describe. In other words, I don't find there to be any difference other than the drivers are oriented differently so your position relative to the speaker could create a different sound depending on position. But as I said, the drivers and electronics are for all practical purposes the same.
Thank you for your review. I have purchased quite a few Bluetooth speakers including JBL Flip 2, Sony srs X2, Bose soundlink mini 2. I am looking for something louder and bassier. I am confused between Sony SRS X5 and creative roar 2. Please suggest which one.
+S Shafi Husain I wouldn't necessarily classify this speaker as "bassier" but it is very well balanced and has a clarity of sound that is more uncolored than many and I find it impressive. I'm not familiar with the Sony SRS X5.
+Reviews, Tutorials & Tech Thank you for your quick reply. How about Bose soundlink mini 2. Bose is a good speaker but I would be embarrassed to play it in small party at my home with friends. Do you know how much watt RMS it is packed with? I could not find that detail anywhere.
S Shafi Husain To my ears the Bose has more bass but at the expense of music accuracy and all around sound quality. I personally prefer the Roar. Your ears might not agree. You really need to hear them both before making a decision.
Correct. Secondly I was checking the website for creative. I don't think it is launched in India at the moment either. The original is available. But do you think it is louder if not the bass. If yes, then how much?
