Hey everyone, this is a duplicate video to the other Cuetec Cynergy shaft review that I did in March of 2020. For some reason, it will not display in searches anymore so I am attempting to re-upload it so you can hopefully search for it again. You can still watch the original and see all the comments on the original so take a look at those comments, some good opinions, questions, and answers are in those comments. Thank you for your support!
UPDATE!!: I just could not take it anymore and put a Zan Premium Soft tip on and WOW, what a difference! The feel is perfect. This tip does kill the speed pretty good which works for me, especially on fast tables. It took a little adjustment for certain shots. The guy put my tip on had a Cynergy with a ZAN hard and that feels great too so if you want a hard, it plays really well too. The Cuetec Cynergy 15K shaft is a formidable alternative to the very popular Predator Revo. If you are looking into trying a carbon fiber shaft then this is a shaft you may want to try. It’s more affordable than the Revo and if you are new to low deflection shafts or carbon fiber shafts, this shaft may be for you! Please watch my review and I hope you enjoy it! Hit the like button and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t done so already.
Thanks for all the support!

Awesome video, very informative, thank you!! One other point that might be considered is for the Revo any tip change must be done by an authorized Predator facility OR the warranty is voided.... there are lots of good people in my area (Ontario Canada) that are pro cue repair folks but are not authorized by Predator, so they cannot change a tip on the cue. Numerous folks have tried to get authorized but have not had much cooperation from Pred. So for me I would have to send the shaft in to Predator.... extra cost, risk and time without my cue.... just to change a tip. There are no issues of this type with the Cuetec Cynergy. Just an FYI :)
@PoolAddiction
@PoolAddiction 3 года назад
That is a very good point I didn't mention. It feels kind of like a racket that Predator does. I started to do tip replacements a few months ago and thought of trying to find out what it takes to be "authorized" but hearing how hard it is to become authorized is crazy. Anyways, thanks for adding to the conversation and I am glad you liked the video, thanks for watching!

@@PoolAddiction hahaha.. i bought new yes and because I had to have it shipped all the way out to vietnam from the US so I saved a bit on shipping as well. RP on popular sites is $649 for the set and I got mine for $600 flat. Shipping was about $35. Not sure how long it's gonna take to reach me with the whole pandemic situation going on but I will write here when I get to play with it. I also just got a Hyperion Cyclops ball set, that set is amazing, shot a bunch of racks with it on my 9' 4.25in corners table, i must say, the balls are much more responsive to throws (maybe a bad thing for vertical cueball players, i like to throw most of my shots in because I prefer to shoot my shots from 0-30 degree angles) and they are slightly heavy and move around the table pretty nicely on a decent tournament cloth (i use ANDY 850 on my table) I haven't seen a ball set review on your channel yet so hopefully, if you own a few sets, we'll get to see such content as well. I am sure it will spark a debate among the aramith faithfuls, but not everything out of china is crap, its only crap if you paid too little for it and expect too much.

@Jasper Shipping overseas from the states might take a while. I sent a shaft to the Netherlands to get some work done. I sent it US postal and it was supposed to be 5-6 business days and that was almost a month ago and it still hasn't made it to the Netherlands. Hopefully that doesn't happed to you. I play with the Cyclops balls that I got with my Diamond table. I like them a lot but I use an Aramitih Measle cue ball. I like the Cyclops balls and how they move on the table, it feels more natural than the Aramith balls. The Cyclops cue call is okay but doesn't respond the same way as the other cue balls that they use around town so that's why I don't play with it. I plan doing ball set reviews sometime and you're right, it's going to get people heated just like people get heated over LD vs regular shafts and CF vs other shafts.
@jaspergan
@jaspergan 4 года назад
@@PoolAddiction luckily my cue dealer ships to vietnam pretty often so there shouldn't be much of an issue, i don't really mind the wait as long as its not stuck or lost in customs. *fingers crossed* my hyperion cueball do weigh a little more than the aramith pro cup tv one so its better if i stuck to the same set it came in otherwise it will move weird, imo. i think CF shafts is going to be the way forward just because of its consistency and longevity despite me having never shot one ever. I have been using a solid maple shaft (no LD) ever since 2004 until today and at first I was extremely sceptical about moving on to CF because i thought it was going to be the same crap when they came out with a graphite cue many years ago. heard too many good things, especially for cuetec's cynergy, for me not to try it (not a cheap test tho!) and have one thing less to worry about when i shoot. pretty excited to finally try and learn the game again as a beginner.

@@PoolAddiction i received my dakota set from the US!! Took less than 3 weeks in total. fell in love with it with the first 20 random shots, threw 10ball rack on the table and ran out. LD + soft tip feels like cheating (i shot with a solid maple shaft + hard tips for almost 15 years..) If anyone who really wants a woody hit, cuetec's cynergy is definitely it. Its not exact but there's no obvious differences that you can pick on. glad i made the jump and bought it even without test hit... and thats all thanks to THIS review video by Pool Addiction.

Finally a great review!!! So could you tell me the deflection difference between this cuetec shaft and the predator 314? Also does replacing the tip on this shaft require sending it in like the revo? Lastly would recommend the harder tip? I usually use the tiger Everest tip and love it but that’s on a wooden shaft.
@PoolAddiction
@PoolAddiction 3 года назад
In my opinion, it's less deflection than the 314 for sure. As far as replacing tips, you may need to send it to a certified Cuetec installer to keep it under warranty, however, I have never sent mine in. I have a a guy here that I trust to do it and I am learning how to do it myself now. As far as tip hardness, I wouldn't go too hard. Some people play with a medium but if that brand's medium is on the harder side it might not be good. I really like a soft tip on my CF shafts and most usually come with a soft tip standard. I have a CF shaft right now that I am reviewing and it has a Zan Hybrid Max tip which a little hard for a medium and I don't like it. My main CF shaft has a Kamui Black Soft and I love it. Everybody has their likes and dislikes though. Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching!
@fishblade2
@fishblade2 3 года назад
@@PoolAddiction why would you not place a harder tip on it? I have always and only used the tiger Everest tip.
@PoolAddiction
@PoolAddiction 3 года назад
I believe the Tiger Everest would be considered a medium tip. The Hybrid Max is a little harder than the Everest according to some of the tip hardness charts. I think medium tips are Ok for CF shafts but based on my limited experience with different tips on CF shafts I have tried as well as other people's thoughts, CF shafts tend to play better with a softer tip, not quite sure why. I wouldn't go too soft and you may be good with an Everest.

I'm a dealer for both companies, I have the revi 12.9 on my custom cue I made. I tried the 12.4 revo when they got shipped to me and I didn't like it at all. I have sold many curtec 15k shafts and have hit with them and I like them. As far as which one has less deflection I'm not 100% sure. The revo is a strong seller for sure. In this review I noticed you layed claim to the revo having less deflection but you still choose the cuetec 15k over the less deflection revo.. could you elaborate on why you are choosing the shaft that deflects more? And at the end of the day, I can't help to think that Shane Van Boening plays and dominates with the cuetec 15k.. that has to speak millions. ... that fact can't go ignored even though the revo has less deflection but at the same time he played with the R360 cuetec shaft over the world renowned Z3 or 314-3 low deflection and wins championships... so does dominate deflection really matter? Thanks for your videos and I hope to hear back from you soon. If you want you can email me personally at jorose95@gmail.com
@PoolAddiction
@PoolAddiction 4 года назад
Thanks for the comment Joe! I stated the Revo had less deflection mainly based on Dr Dave's comparison video because I haven't done a head to head yet. I have been learning what I should and shouldn't do on the reviews and one thing I regret not doing is a deflection test with each review that way I have something to actually reference to. My plan, however, is to do a little video series where I go into a heavier in depth comparison. I hope to get those out during the summer. As far as picking the Cynergy over the Revo even though I believe the Revo is more low deflection, it felt like the low deflection was too much with the Revo. I tried a Z3 a long time ago and felt the same way. I have been playing with LD shafts a long time and my first LD shaft was a 314 and I loved it but the Z3 and Revo just felt like too much low deflection for me so that's why I chose the Cynergy. When it comes to low deflection and does it make you better? It's not the equipment that is going to make you better. In my opinion, a LD shaft can help your game get better if it fits the way you play, some people don't like LD shafts and think they are crap. I do feel that I have to compensate less for squirt/deflection with an LD shaft which helps me aim more true but if you have played your entire life compensating for that squirt then it messes you up all of a sudden. All that said I think SVB can play great with either shaft, however, he is sponsored by Cuetec which may something to do with it. Thanks for watching and I am glad you liked the video.

Hi, I am looking to purchase an LD shaft for my schon cue. I am thinking about a Jacoby ultra. Or do you think that I should just go with the cynergy carbon fiber?
@PoolAddiction
@PoolAddiction 4 года назад
In my opinion I would go with the cheaper option first to see if an LD shaft is for you. I have never tried the Jacoby Ultra myself but I heard they are good. CF shafts are almost double the cost of a regular wood LD shaft. Not everyone likes LD shafts because there's an adjustment you have to make to the way you aim and shoot. I feel the adjustment is better in the long run because your aim is more true which helps with making any adjustments for things such as squirt and swerve when you use english. If you are worried about buying a regular LD and then decide it's right for you and want to upgrade to a CF shaft then buy a used wood LD shaft and save some money. The advantages I have seen so far with a CF shaft over a wood LD shaft is maintenance is a lot less and it doesn't get dings like the wood shafts do. The feel using one (nice and smooth in the bridge hand), in my opinion, is superior to wood. Also, I feel like I get a little better consistency with the CF shaft but that might subliminal. So, to sum it up if you are new to LD shafts, get a cheaper one first (you could try the HXT Skinny for even cheaper than the Ultra) then upgrade if you like it. If you have used LD shafts before and know you're going to like it and you have the extra money, give it a try.

I use a glove with my CF shaft because my damn hands get grimy from the chalk and touching the balls and then it creates friction on the shaft. I dont like talcum powder either, nor do I enjoy having to wash my hands every 20 minutes to keep my bridge hand slick, so using a glove on a CF shaft is actually useful. For me it has nothing to do with resistance to change as you said.
@PoolAddiction
@PoolAddiction 2 года назад
I have never been much of a glove person. I've gone through stretches where I only used a glove but I've always gone back to no glove. I still keep one in my case just in case the elements make it hard to stroke without a glove. I haven't had too much of an issue with the CF shaft getting dirty but the humidity did have an effect on a time or two where I need to use a glove.

@PoolAddiction
@PoolAddiction 4 года назад
Thanks for the comment! You are going to always have a divided view when comes to carbon fiber shafts vs wood shafts. It's kind of the same when low deflection shafts first came out. Some people like them and some don’t. For me, I really like them for 3 reasons. 1) Low deflection (in my opinion is better than wood LD shafts) 2) Smooth finish 3) Durability. Those are the main things however, the one big thing that sucks is the price. I think prices are starting to come down as the market is getting flooded with more and more brands. The Cynergy is really nice and I like it even though I primarily play with my Becue Prime M now. I still use the Cynergy from time to time and I think you can't go wrong with it. If you are worried if you will like it then look on the used market and save some money. You can sell the used shaft if you don't like it and get most if not all the money you spent. Hope this helps you a little and thanks for watching!

You aren't the first to give me feedback on the music and I do take the feedback and figure out better ways to do things. What I mean by I metal joint is basically a metal thread insert in the shaft where as a wood joint is wood threads, sorry I should’ve of clarified that. To be honest I haven’t looked at Meucci cues in a long time (my first real cue was a Meucci) so I took a look at some of them and to my surprise the do have a wood joint on some of their models but they still mainly use a metal thread insert that they’ve used as long as I can remember. I looked at their pro line and all of the ones I saw use their flat face metal insert. As for the McDermott models, the H series would some of the higher ends that I am talking about. McDermott also makes one of customs here and there that are the same level.

Yeah, this whole virus shutdown sucks for a lot of us. Thankfully, I have a table at home but I feel for everyone who doesn't. I would be going nuts right about now if I couldn't play. From my experience so far with try various CF shafts is there are differences in feel and play but not huge differences. The amount of deflection which one has is a bit different but everyone has to find the amount of deflection they like for their game. For me, the Revo feels like it's too much and from what I have seen and read it's the lowest out of all of them. I plan on putting this to the test soon with a big comparison series between all the shafts I have tried so far. Hopefully I can knock those videos out over the summer.

When Allison and Earl were destroying the competition with their $120 cheap Cuetecs, nobody would buy them. So Cuetec signs a top player and raises their prices sky high and now their cues are the greatest thing since apple pie. Fact is that Cuetec has always made an excellent cue. I prefer my cheapie $120 Cuetec over my $400 Meucci because I love the shaft taper better. Since Allison left Cuetec and went to a carbon fiber shaft, her game has rapidly dropped off. She got her rear end kicked by Chou twice....9 ball, then 10 ball. Chou uses a wood shaft. But who cares? It's the player, not the stick.
@PoolAddiction
@PoolAddiction Год назад
I remember too when Cuetec was a cheap cue. Back in the early 90's they didn't even have a pro and they were pushing a graphite shaft and cue I thought it was a big gimmick, and how many graphite shafts are out there now, not many. I think CF shaft's high prices I feel have a lot to do with popularity. There's been a lot of changes to do with Allison since the late 90's and early 2000's. She retired and then unretired and is older. I know it's harder to play the game the older you get and I don't know how much she's practicing and preparing these days. You are absolutely correct, equipment isn't going to magically make someone better and I always say to people is it's what fits your game best is what you go with whether it's a wood shaft or CF.
