Congrats SA from an England fan, not seen your pack rattled like that in the lineout before, your replacements took control of the scrum, Sinckler and Genge struggled, Pollard stood up to the pressure with his winning kick. Fair play. Proud of my boys though.
Fantastic performance from England. Good to see that old English Bulldog spirit again, although It must be heartbreaking for you to have lost, mate. I know I had already resigned myself to a loss for the Boks.
Holy shit man, that went right down to the wire. We were very fortunate to walk away with the win. It's as if you guys had an answer for everything and you can be extremely proud of your charges (and yes, it hurts, I know)
🇿🇦Congrats to England too, you guys played the right tactical game for the Boks and the conditions, kicking just behind our backs making every ball contestable and winning most of it. We also let ourselves down at the breakdowns. I sent the following message re the Boks to my family elsewhere in the country at about the halfway mark: “We’re struggling tonight, they lack energy. The mental and physical after effects of last week’s game. But we’ll keep believing until the final whistle!” Relieved we pulled it off, but well done mate!
What the Springboks did in this world cup, THEY REALLY MADE RUGBY SPORT TO TREND LIKE CRAZY... 2 SMASH AND GRABS WINS 2 WEEKS IN A ROW... NEVER SAW THIS BEFORE. 60 minutes in to the game i already accepted defeat...yerrrrrr
Hey Wildkard,,,, im South African and im quite impressed by your passion and ability to encapsulate the emotions of the SA games... Its been quite stressful and ftustrating but the Boks made it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I usually watch these games with a bunch of friends but this game I decided to watch this game on my own at home... It was insane! I had a though during the game where I though that I should let my friend know to check up on me after 2hours because I felt my heart rate and blood pressure rising after 3mins
Lol... the joy and screaming in our house celebrating the Bokke win was epic, considering we're All Black supporters. Cheers Bokke! Best of next week 🍻
yes, but Kwagga didn't manage even one loose maul steal - which is his special skill - probably because the back three of England were absolutely brilliant - they bossed that area completely - it's the turnovers that increase the chances of scoring and tonight we had nothing from that - even Vermeulen didn't manage any turnovers - i guess we were really missing Marx...
He didn't manage to get a turnover, but tackled at a much higher speed, threatened with turnovers causing more English players to commit to the ruck and really boosted the defence. Fourie, Snyman, Ox, Kwagga, Faf and Pollard were all super subs. Each added energy and calmness to grind out that win.
The game was set up nicely for England..they sailed into the semifinals with hardly any resistance.. South Africa showed some tired bodies and minds..but South Africa has a never die attitude
There is a reason or purpose to Rassie madness and a purpose the same team had to play England that beat the French as well, you will find the same backline the boks used on Twickenham against the AB
Yeahp, as the Aussy’s would say “ if they were any tougher , they’d rust “ Really pleased about that outcome, love ma South African , All Black games always a cruncher no matter what the score. Tip the Yarpies to edge out the Blacks though , their just a more team, team . Think the hard games tie ya together harder . To much Haka , not enough game for the Blacks . I also see a few people doing inappropriate actions/ gestures during the haka which is not good good for the karma. Cutting the throat of the enemy was never the thing of a Māori warrior, it’s all about taking his eyes 👀 and consuming his soul. which is part of the reason to “ pukana” . Enlarage your eyes 👀, appear bigger. Nough said , we’ll find out in a couple of days I guess .👍👌
I was ready for defeat, to let go... then a try, then a... Anyway, no way, we won. A total surprise, after how good England looked. Well done to both teams, in different ways.
Ive been a rev for many years. Still wondering about the penalty against Etzebeth after the ball was out and the penalty that went against the Boks after Kolbe was taken out in the air. I would like to take a look at those two again. My instinct said that the Kolbe incident should have been a penalty for SA and a review for a yellow card.
I think the doctors in South Africa are going to make money from the high blood pressure we endured during this week , our hearts can't take it anymore Now its off to the dream final we yearned for since the 1995 final Bokke for life❤❤
Wow just wow. I really fucking enjoyed this game as a neutral. Congrats SA clutch in the scrum and Pollard has ice in his veins huge respect. commiserations England. Huge respect to England you guys showed the f up in a big way the team deserve to be proud of that performance IMO. From Wales supporter
You enjoyed it? Man that's interesting because I thought neutrals would say this was the most boring game of rugby ever. I was so embarrassed! I could swear the longest consecutive play in the game can't have been much more than 2 or 3 phases. England executed their game plan so well and I have to feel sorry for them.
@wilfredsmith183 and to be fair to Argentina if we had won the QF against them we would have gotten blown out as well most likely in the SF as well IMO
From a Irish man, there's nothing better than watching the English cheer with hopes and desires of winning the world cup. Only to gaze upon faces that's getting their souls destroyed in complete and utter anguish. Brilliant.
As an Ireland supporter I have always found the English rugby supporters to be quite sound people. They at least don't seethe with red hot jealously and hatred like the Welsh and Scottish.
I find the Irish hatred quite strange - as most normal working English people I know seem to love the Irish - and many of them even have some Irish ancestry. Can rugby also bring the worst out of people?
Hes on his own with this one, i was cheering for England..even though there fans where quite disgusting on our Irish rugby trends after the NZ game..i dont tar all with the same brush...England for me got hard done by with that scrum on the halfway line in the 76th min, koch burring in from the side was clear as day iv look at it a few times and i cant see where you got him locking it out?? he was clearly attacking the hooker he was at that much in from the side ..but you get a call and sometimes you dont..hard luck England..could have being. If anything i would be a bit worried if i was a SA supporter..the previous big games have taking its tole on a lot of the players and you could see how tired thay where just after half time. Final should be good.
Their inability to score, full stop, from the 22 was the problem. Sooooo many entries wasted. Owen should've tried 2x other DGs, at least, to keep the board ticking over. Just painful to watch
@@WildkardThey were too wedded to their game plan to try anything different. As an English fan I genuinely thought the Boks were there for the taking after about 60 minutes but England just didn’t have enough attacking threat to put them away. Then the Boks bench started monstering the scrum and England were finished. Congrats on the win and good luck for the final.
What a game. England were unbelievable to keep the Boks out of the game for so long. It was a forgone conclusion watching how they were playing that a win was probable. Another nail biter, my heart can’t take it anymore. Well done England and well done the Boks! Whew!!!
England were no more unbelievable than we were crap. Terrible from the Boks. The Rugby Gods are clearly on our side because last week we were also poor.
You really wear your heart on your sleeve mate. That and your passion for the game are why I love listening to your analysis. And yes what a humdinger that was. The heart of this Springbok team is amazing. Amazing how they were able to go to the next level when all appeared to be lost. Great that they are in the final. They will have to find a different gear against the Kiwis.
England came out and took the game to the Boks. This was Englands game to lose when seeing how the Boks played the first half. England out played and out smarted the Boks for 60 minutes hands down. The Boks were rattled, scrappy and were scrambling. Then something clicked ...... I hate the kicking game, I so much prefer the running game. Respect to England, great game and everyone played with their hearts and souls. A win is a win, there is not much else to say there. Get over the line first. The Boks know how to get that going when it is necessary and most important. It is the sole element that made the difference. I think England will win next week and take bronze though. The Boks have had the 3 most worthy teams (all deserved a place in the final) in gettinng to the final, Ireland, France and now England - all monster games. Victory favors the bold !! Congratulations to the Boks.
@@Wildkard Thenonly reservation I have with Scotland is their LONG game. I do not think, at this time, Scotland have the legs for the game beyond the pool phase, quarters at best on an exceptional day. Lack depth of players unfortunately, but they can certainly pull one out of the hat once in a while.
I think Nienaber is very cautious of his game time and conditioning, given his long injury. So he might be a bit hesitant to put Polly on for the full 80 in a high intensity game.
That does make sense- I also think dropping Manie for Pollard is a big call in terms of Manies confidence. He doesn’t want to and was hoping Manie finds form. I would personally drop Manie and have another impact player on the bench like Jasper who was exceptional in the last game he played.
Mannie must be paired up with Grant Williams. Faf and Reinag are just too slow for Mannie. With a pack moving foward with Mannie and Grant as your half backs would be insane. Then have Moodie and Ester Huizen at centres would be fitting for the final
@@Wildkard ohh bro thats a great question..put me on the spot there lol...well if it came down to one if my life depended on it I'd pick All Blacks. Btw i just realized too that ABs and SA did each other a favor by knocking out the teams that beat them in the pool stages..i.e. Ireland who beat SA but lost to ABs in QF...and France who beat ABs but lost to SA in QF.
7:31 The stats tell the story; South Africa the only try, only clean breaks, more defenders beaten. They looked the better team but were hampered by their unforced errors, resulting in losing the ball too early when in possession. But their replacements gained ascendency. England lacked creativity, they defended stoutly, but relied on kicking too much. I've seen many comments that England were the better team, but I didn't think that watching the game, South Africa were better, just their own worst enemy at times. They corrected, and won.
england was not the better team but had a better strategy that worked well with the wet weather. the boks showed a lot of determination, composure and discipline to pull out that win
Wilis an undercover Bokke with a huge opening statement. Respect to Australia for building Rugby to this level. As I recall it was Australia that showed us attacking form of Rugby in its early stage in RWC. Springboks have shown as a Nation we are going through a lot with poverty and bad leadership but as 1995 once did, we will prosper as a Nation. Honestly win or lose. Respect to the AB. 1995 was the first Rugby Game I watched as non whites did not really have access at the time. So AB , will always have a special place in our hearts ❤
yes, it was actually crazy - even the England hooker managed to throw the ball backwards in that one LO which was a great let off for Springboks - handling errors were plenty and at stages it looked like school boy errors - but it was VERY wet...
Every game that South Africa played in this world cup was exciting. Let's be honest, that game yesterday New Zealand vs Argentina was kak. Switched off after 50mins
When Farrell landed his drop goal, he had that famous smirk on his face. You could see he was already picturing himself in the final. What a bloody wingnut that guy is😂
As a SAFFA, I aged 20 years in that game. Yoh my poor heart! Terrible perfomance from the Boks, breathtaking from England. Boks were so abysmal in fact BUT CHAMPIONS ALWAYS FIND A WAY!
It was painful to watch indeed, but in my heart ❤️ I believed that the boys will turn up the game as it happens. By the way we thank God for making it possible for us as Mzansi national 🙏❤️
England started well and to ❤ lose with a point is imaginable. My man is gutted can't sleep is broken beyond words, Congrats to SA and well done England for putting up a good show. ❤
@@Seriouslydave I'm cool with that. I respect SAs legacy more than England's. Especially since they decided to drown the Haka out multiple times with a bloody slave song of all choices. Yeah nah, screw them.
Love your delivery and enthusiasm Wildkard 👍😄!! Well played England, think you surprised a lot of people, myself included! See you Bokkes next week........GO ABs 💣💣💥💥👍
SA was out-sreategized. Bad line-outs and rucks were just a plus to what England did so well. Those last 13 minutes were the only time in the match that SA looked like they were in the match
ABs fan here who woke at 3am to watch this. I nearly thought I'd seen enough and SA were going home, and considered going back to bed. Glad I didn't and saw the men in green show every bit of grit and determination to grind out a result for the second week in a row. After their last clash at Twickenham where they were smashed, I'm hoping the ABs can avenge that defeat
The boks are the Muhammad Ali of sport today. Amazing game, tactic, surprise, grind down your opponent or play the open game. Last week was Thrilla in Manila, today it was Rumble in the Jungle longing for next week against the ABs.
I lost so much weight watching last week’s QF game and I gained it back during the week, today I doubled the weight loss especially after that Owen drop goal I’m not even exaggerating! It was brutal spectating as a Boks fan. 😭
O Boy!!! O Boy!!! My heart!!! My heart. I must say the rain is not the Bok's favourite playing condition which was our worst nightmare!!! They showed that they are the Champions for a reason!!! Congrats to our BOKKE!!!!!
I knew this was going to be a tough one despite us being favorites. The senior subs rescued us but some senior players like Kitshoff and Malherbe (both of whom I admire) are struggling with form. Libbok isn’t ready for big games and I haven’t seen much of his value yet in this WC. Some people said we were lucky but it all comes down to delivering key moments in tight games. Not whether you dominated most of it.
great breakdown, didnt like a lot of the ref calls myself same questions i had which u brought up. worst part for me was watching him teach the England team how to scrum every scrum while running the clock down, painful
The boks may not deserve that win, but consider this .... to still win in the face of such an onslaught, the boks had huge character in the last 7-8 minutes. The bench, our scummaging, Snyman, Ox and Pollard's penalty won the game! I woke up this morning with a massive headache having popped a few veins last night. Was not a pleasure to see the boks play like that, but a 1 point win ..... I'll take it! I hope Jacque and Rassie get their selections right against the AB in the final. And for goodness sake boks, don't give us again such a passionless, flat game! We will lose against the AB if you play like that ..... shit, I need headache pills!
100% deserved the win mate, it took a lot of determination, hard work and discipline to clutch that one. england played well which made the boks look bad and the wet weather was also difficult for both teams
We've played really bad with a lot of mistakes the past 2 weeks. After my heart rate and emotions returned to normal levels, I started thinking about how good we really are. Think about it... The 2 worst games for the boks of the last 2 years I feel, and still we netted a win. WC finals. Here we go!
definitely not the 2 worst games, its tough out there, when u play with quality teams they make u look bad. we can all agree the worst was losing to wales at home 2 years ago.
The weather had our boys playing under the weather 💔 but when they started playing technically, OX and Pollard held us 🇿🇦🤍 Thank you Lord it would’ve been a horrible birthday if we lost 😭
Wildkard Afrikaans lesson no. 2... "balhaar breedte" translation: "ball-hair width. That was the diffrence between the scores, the quality of the teams and between me and a bloody heart attack!!
Deja vu from the 2019 semi-final against Wales. Everyone said the same, then. Don't worry, the Boks will be up for the final. They will be brutal come Saturday. Predicting Pollard, Faf, and Am to start...possibly even Willie and 7/1 bomb squad.
I'd been telling you, with Farrell at 10 and the back 3 we picked how else did you think England was going to play. This is the most transparent game plan all RWC.
@@Wildkard we tried playing with more ball in hand against Samoa and Fiji (twice) and just weren't very good at it Given Borthwick had less than 12 months to work with and inevitably a few games needed to take a look at players and quickly decided who to keep and who to cut he just didn't try to reinvent the wheel I can only hope with time we will start to expand the game and phase in players
Don't need to be Einstein to know who you're supporting next week my bro. Fair enough, 20 years of watching your Wallabies not holding the bledisloe is a good enough reason to go for Bokke. It's going to be a mouth watering final. May the best team win. 🤞 the AB's get up! 🖤 Cheers WildKard 🍻
As a AB supporter I'm gutted for England , would have been the perfect end for this WC for a NZ / England final , complete reverse from 2019 , well done England , now bring on our next challenge .
@@WildkardThat’s unfair, England get a lot of stick from many people; and this semi-final demonstrated their absolute right to be there. England have had a new manager since just before the World Cup, that’s not easy for a team to adjust to, yet when everyone wrote them off, they put in the work quietly. Any team that gets to the knockout stages deserves to be there, regardless of what people say. England’s performance against South Africa is a testament to that. They did not make it easy for the springboks and for most of the game it seemed like they would win. England have demonstrated that there is far more to rugby than just scoring try after try. The kicking game is an integral part of the game and drop goals are underutilised in rugby, today. It’s nice to see the old English style in contemporary rugby - when done well it is stunning to watch. George ford against Argentina was sensational in that regard. England won their World Cup with Johnny Wilkinson’s last minute drop goal, and watching the English kicking game can be quite the spectacle. I don’t think it is fair or justifiable to say England didn’t deserve to be there; the springboks did not get to the final out of dominance, they got very fortunate near the end. Had that penalty not been given, the outcome would have been very different. You have to acknowledge that.
Etsabeth didn't say the ball was out because the scrumhalf touched it. It was out because the bridging player in the ruck had both his hands on the ground and not supporting his weight, meaning he was out of play and therefore the ball was out. You also missed the shoulder charge from England that stopped a try scoring opportunity for the boks as well at the start of the game.
They claimed there was a touch when Alex Mitchell cleared that ball Wildkard! I thought it was a dubious call! Just like Siya being offside. The ref got that wrong!
England totally outplayed South Africa in the first half, but the scoreboard didn't reflect that because England couldn't do more than score goal kicks, South Africa just was held, like a cork of a champagne bottle about to pop out, 2nd half was scrappy until the changes were made, the bomb squad was in place and the game was over. My hat off to England for the tactic and strategy to enforce their game however they forgot about a little detail, the bomb squad. The weather and Ref were the perfect conditions for England game.
England just played stats rugby, so basically kicking, they never seemed dangerous on attack and never aimed for tries. It was very boring to watch, kicking at all times.
@@natecoet3291it reminded me of how SA played in 2019 so don’t be wank winners. It was a tactic that has worked for the Boks in the past and nearly worked for England today.
Great game plan from England. Good under the high ball, heavy runners, epic midfield defense. Bro, that was nuts. I thought we had it but dealing with the Boks scrum late in the game is brutal. An exhausting watch. Really dreadful but hey ho, the Saffas did well.
that was looking like it was gona run away until the reserve props showed up. absolutely huge turn around. i thought borthwick should have put ford on earilier instead of giving him 2mins and 1 play at the ball.
@@scroopynooperz9051 it’s going to be one hell of a game, 3 World Cup wins each, a blow out loss from both sides this year against each other. It’s really anyone’s bet.
I just hope Jacques Nienaber has a plan for next week. We could've beaten England with a second string but fresh group yesterday. How do you use the same starting lineup for a quarter, semi and final? The guys looked tired within the first 5min.
the issues with LO, breakdown and highball wont be fixed with the b team mate. the coaches made the right call. boks had a week off before the quarterfinal, so this is only the 2nd game in a row for the team.
For a wet game, entertaining. At least for people who really love rugby. Happy the Boks took it in the end. I knew they would. Also, my half-Pom side was a little sad. However, it would have been a travesty, if they had beaten the Boks - because the wet-game is all England has, unfortunately. I don’t see it changing under Borthwick, either. Now the final we dreamt about - and I hope the Boks can squeeze three tight wins in a row (without ref issues).
@@scroopynooperz9051yeah mate it's knockout rugby, just look at England they've scraped through this whole tournament not looking flashy just mediocre and today they performed sublime just this time it was against a champion team
I kept reminding people all week about the last WC where England hammered the AB’s. I also think SA had the ‘Last weeks match blues’. I am hoping they will be back in the frame this weekend. Go Bokke!
