The wait for the SNK's 40th Anniversary retro console is over. Japanese version was just launched this week, @kopke tries it out, there's pros & cons, so we present them in the following review.

I hope they remake this model in a bigger version more arcade cabinet look with propper button lay-out as well as a bigger 4:3 screen or widescreen with optional screen adjustment and being it will be much bigger make it $200-300 bucks and ur set.

Massimo Scarpato could be a bug. They don’t disappear on the Nintendo Switch.

Looks like a bug, and the pink shadow of the clouds isappearing seeems weird too...I wonder if its possible to get the 4:3 fullscreen aspect ratio on a Tube TV using snd HDMI to component adapter

It's cool, but the game selection is so disappointing. This version has literally 10 versions of KOF but excludes so many of the weird games that make the Neo Geo great. Couldn't we lose one of the KOF and get Waku Waku 7 instead? And putting the very mediocre Top Player' Golf on the system instead of Neo Turf Masters?? Why?

from what I saw of KOF98, this one looks to be more arcade faithful (proper intro). proprietary controllers only might be a deal breaker for some though. no arcade stick support is a little upsetting.

Well, it depends. If you already own the console, then that option is cheaper. If not, NGmini is a good option but limited to just those 40 titles. Depends on what you want.

Already own the Switch and have the HORI RAP V arcade stick. I've already bought KOF '98 and Metal Slug. I was going to buy Samurai Shodown II but then the Neo Geo Mini was announced.
