Review: HD 720P Spy Video Glasses from China

A review of some cheap spy glasses I bought from China on E-bay. They boast 720 HD video quality with the capability to take pictures, as well. I also give instructions on how to record and take pictures with them, because the instruction manual I received with them was for a different model. I assume I'm not the only one with this problem.

I have a pair of these and they aren't half bad actually.I have a 32gb Sandisk in there and it works great but not sure what the maximum duration of a video clip would be anyway,seems like the length of the battery so maybe an hour. These glasses are meant to be worn in a very well lit areas like a store etc. and they actually are pretty good under those circumstances.

I have similar glasses and they drop frames !! if you film for example someone playing the guitar...after 15 minutes the audio and the video are totally out of synch ! Testing such thing ( dropped frames..lost of video-audio synch) should be a part of your test/review

Obviously for this money you cannot expect Hollywood video quality, but I was thinking of buying them for on the way driving by car. We have quite some small accidents here and issues with people without insurance that try to get away afterwards. Try to proof that! So I was thinking about these glasses, they will follow your eye view so also record parts that are seen in the mirror and may be useful. What do you think? The quality doesn't seem that bad to me.

They should create a remote control for these. Because it would be convenient got events such as an armed robbery. People will actually have pictures of the culprit instead of just eye witness testimony you know.

+Khaitoon Katy Kendall Why would you need a remote control when simply pressing with your left thumb between your face & the arm does the trick? The button is conveniently located that way, and the flashing LED is visible to your left eye.

Is there a reset button? These glasses were working great for a couple weeks but now they wont turn off and a blue light stays on. Also, there was double vision and incorrect coloration.

1080P and 720P are resolutions for medium and long distance, set in a large room or outdoor setting. In a distance less than 6 yards, you will have a hard time getting the subject in the frame, besides cropped heads or body. The only acceptable rsolution for short distance to capture full face/head/body, is 1280x960, or 1600x1200.

Sometimes a short coming can become an advantage. I could easily see someone using footage from these glasses to make a retro style film. As cheap as they are you could hand them out to all of the actors, make some modifications to the lenses so they don't all look the same, and have the characters just all happen to wear glasses, lol.

Do they have some sort of feature that makes them turn off automatically like after a minute of inactivity or something. And can they pause a video to continue it later, or not? wow, i definitely have to get myself one of these. The video quality of the glasses that you showed riding your bike was pretty good, 720p HD in a glass, what more could you ask ? i personally think the video quality the glass takes is way better thean the video quality of most cellphones.. !

This video quality is better than a lot of the cheap ones you get on eBay. It's not too bad at all in comparison. It's no Pivothead but for the price you can't complain too much.

onee I bought the frameless looking ones on eBay but sent them back because they were faulty. Dodgy Chinese crap with a manual that barely made any sense. I would save up and buy the Pivotheads. Sure they're more expensive, but worth it. It's like comparing a GoPro to a cheap knockoff. The knockoffs just look shit and you'd wish you got the GoPro.

I was given a pair of the exact same glasses and after charging them overnight they keep turning off soon after I start video recording. there is plenty of space on the tf card. was wondering if you ever had this problem? they also kept shutting off in standby after only 30sec-1min. id think the battery was flat except I don't see how it could have been....

You can change the settings with a config file on the TF card but little info is available about this. The time can be set with time.txt stored on TF card. Format is: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS FALSE The FALSE means to hide/show the time in recordings. Set to TRUE to show the time.

They didn't work when I got these. I have two computers. One working Windows 7, the other Windows 10. Neither computer recognised the glasses, so had to send back.

The non-functional micro card actually is a fault of ebay--I ordered mine during a sale on amazon and it came with an 8GB card and worked before I knew what I was doing(accidentally turning it on and getting pictures of my shirt). Could be a happy coincidence, but most all the videos out there quote ebay and all the ones I've seen had useless and/or needed to be replaced 4GB card off ebay.

What is the purpose of the stand by mode? I have a pair like this... If I made my own, I would just start recording when you press the button. I would also make the LED flash while recording. Another thing I don't like... When charging, it goes from blue to red... I would do the opposite. Why does the light turn off when recording? There is no way to know if its recording or turned off...

light turns of during recording because they are sold as spy glasses if u could see the led in low light it would be noticed the you are recording. is my guess ??

I just purchased this similar spy camera and I realized that the computer does not detect it. When I press the switch it flaseh ten times. According to the manual, it indicates that there is no TF card. Please tell me what should I do to make this work

Hey. Look at my comment on top (if it is there for you). I bought mine about 3 weeks ago. And it records only in 720x480 resolution. Not 1280x720 resolution. I am pissed off too. But maybe there's a way to set it to 1280x720? WE NEED HELP! OR A CORRECT PURCHASE LINK (lol)

GorskiTV thanks so much for posting this detailed review. I was in the midst of buying the exact same device off ebay. I didn't realize the camera wasn't position in the middle of the unit. I was hoping you could make a recommendation for something better that (a) is in the upper low range to midrange budget department, (b) recording lens in the middle of the device.

I was able to take the time stamp off. You have to code it a different way. I don't know how you did it but I followed the "incorrect manual" and I was able to turn it on and off.

Its recording 20 minutes video because your micro sd card is not programmed. You have to set it by right clicking on the micro sd card icon and formatting in some kind of mode like FAT or something in your PC. Then it will record videos according to the card capacity. I am sorry I don't remember clearly as I did it years back. you may google it for better answer.

What I need to know is what type of Sr card it needs since we have class4, class6, class10. Those spy cameras don’t come with SD card included. I would like to get the 32gb spy camera but I’m not really sure what SD card is going to use.

I think I have a newer version than yours cos the light sequence is different. The files are huge though! It breaks up into 10-minute segments, and each one is 200MB. Sometimes just a few minutes and it's 600MB. This is nuts!!!!

I see this is a few years old. I see these are down to under $10 - and a few bucks for shipping. I need to be able to record for up to possibly three hours. Should I get three pair? 40 minutes is not much ... Picture is pretty clear and you sound pretty good as well. Wind and all.
