Tripreports. Lufthansa Long Haul Inflight Flight Review. This is our first flight on an Airbus A380 800. Our flight is with Lufthansa on their Airbus A380 800. We have been lucky enough to pre-book seats in the Economy Class Upper Deck of this aircraft. The Economy Class lower deck has a 3-4-3- seat configuration and on the upper deck of this Lufthansa Airbus A380 800 the seat configuration is 2-4-2.
Before boarding this flight from Frankfurt Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok Airport) we take you on a tour through Frankfurt Airport to show you what it is like to transfer flights here. The time between our connection flight is 6-7 hours so we have time to explore the Z Terminal at Frankfurt Airport which is where the Lufthansa Long Haul flights depart from. This Lufthansa Trip Report includes a Tour of Frankfurt Airport Terminal Z, our Lufthansa Airbus A380 800 Boarding where we get a view of the Upper Economy Class and Lower Economy Class Decks, the Airbus A380 seats and seat configuration, the Lufthansa Airbus A380 Inflight Meals and Inflight Drinks, a look at the Galley, a look at the Airbus A380 Lavatory, a look at the Inflight Entertainment System (IFE), information about WIFI availability on the Lufthansa Airbus A380 800 and more information which could be of interest to your own flight with the Lufthansa Airbus A380 800. Also included in this Lufthansa Tripreport is our approach to and landing at Bangkok´s Suvarnabhumi Airport and disembarkation of our Lufthansa Airbus A380 800. Thanks for another enjoyable video. I haven't had the privilege of flying Lufthansa yet but I did get to try upstairs in Economy on the A380 flying Singapore Airlines to Singapore in 2012 where we then flew Silk Air to Phuket. It's quieter upstairs and less crowded. I also love how you only have two seats together instead of three. Since then I've found it hard to score an economy seat upstairs on the A380.

I love the A380! It's quiet, big, looks really good and has good infotainment system as well. We flew the A380 with Emirates last year from Copenhagen to Kuala Lumpur, and we were going to fly with Singapore Airlines A380 on our trip to Malaysia and Bali in April this year, but we waited too long and opted with tickets with Quatar instead as the prices with SA went up before we got to book. :) Unfortunately it's not the A380. Thanks for sharing!

My wife and I also flew on Luthansa’s Airbus A380 in September 2018 from San Francisco to Frankfurt. It was also our first time on an Airbus A380. I snagged 2 bulkhead seats going to and coming back from Frankfurt (I posted my pretty amateurish vlog on RU-vid) that gave us extra legrooms. The plane was amazingly quiet! I barely noticed we were already taking off because the engines were so much quieter on take off than I am used to than say, a Boeing 747-400. Frankfurt International Airport is huge and it involved long walks to connecting gates. I loved the newer terminal, the older terminal not so much. Our layover times in Frankfurt were too short to use the Priority Lounge and not worth the extra fees to enter, so we sat in uncomfortable seats near the boarding gates. With around 500 passengers, lines are long to board this super jumbo plane. Oh my, First World problems!

Finn Air also flies to Bangkok. I think because of the route they can fly over northern russia and siberia, it's an hour or so faster than most other European carriers. And Helsinki airport is a good transit hub, not too big, with nary a line anywhere. Finn Air has services to most east and south east Asian destinations.

Great Video! The upper deck Economy experience on the A380 is absolutely incredible, i flew it on Thai and Airfrance :) While the windows are a bit annoying, it is super nice how quiet and cozy the small cabins are, and the small bins at the window seats are amazing!

Like Daece in the comments already said, it's Don Muang Intl Airport, the old airport of Bangkok which was after opening Suvarnabhumi Airport shorty closed and then reopen in 2017. Mainly used for low cost carriers, Don Muang was reaching again 40 millions passengers in 2017 which was the last time before closing. Together with Suvarnabhumi the total of passengers for Bangkok comes now to more than 100 millions... Between 2006 and 2018 an increase of nearly 60 millions... incredible. Thanks for the video!

This is a truly fantastic trip report of yours..I truly love it..though it is mainly for connoisseurs I think given its lengths. It also took me 2 nights. I always love your totally systematic and detailed reporting and the excellent commentary. You guys MUST fly the A380 though one day in the EK version with the bar..and take the afternoon flight ex DXB to enjoy the lounges. I know it is expensive. But on EK it's easy to split the booking into different classes per segment. So on my last trip I flew eco but DXB FRA in business..its totally worth it I think

Thank you so much Derek! We really enjoyed the Economy Class Upper Deck on the A380 and we like Lufthansa. That said we were not happy with the window from a filming perspective as it is so deep! It was lovely to finally experience this aircraft and the nice small Economy cabin with quicker food and drink but we both prefer the Airbus A330, A340, A350 and Boeing 777 with the back 2 seaters ;-) Are you back from Hua Hin? Very impressed with the quality of this video. Quite envy your choice of flight and plane as two days ago travelled Bangkok to London on a Boeing 777-200 which as usual was very noisy and unrefined compared to the A380 which is the quietest plane I have ever flown on. Lufthansa is a superb carrier, the very best in the skies and no red eye on arrival.Thank you.

Christmas in Poland sounds good! We have not booked anything yet as we are waiting to see what the world situation looks like, as vaccines are delayed here in Denmark. We have spent so much time on the phone with airlines and insurance companies this year that we have decided to wait with booking so that we will not have to go through that process again ;-D

Hi there Ron! Thank you for your very kind greeting!! It was nice to be able to spend a birthday on an A380 and as an added bonus to have Lufthansa serving Sparkling Wine in Economy Class!! We are wondering whether this is still the case. We had a great time waiting for our plane at Frankfurt Airport and it was nice to taste the various sausages and German Beer, very enjoyable :-D We always try to have some hours between flights so that we can experience the airport and perhaps some local foods too, time goes quickly when you are having fun! All is well here in our end and we hope the same goes for you! Thanks for watching our video and for taking the time to leave us such a nice comment as usual. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! I have flown emirates A380 from manchester to bangkok economy seat 53a and53b on the return flight from bangkok was upstairs economy 32a and the wife had 31a and 31b to herself as the economy part at the front end was only about 1/3rd full i have flown with emirates a lot i have used qatar and etihad also but for speed qatar beats the other 2 always arriving in bangkok 1 hr ahead of time which is great on a long haul as you can get through customs earlier and get to you hotel destination for breakfast or dinner depending on your flight departure time and arrival time i use skyscanner to pick my flights from the uk to bkk as my wife goes to see her family each time we go there but not sure when we will get back there like many millions of travellers due to the cov-19 hopefully the vacination programe works so we can all get our wings back and enjoy flying again like you two do

Love your videos as always, and the fact that they are long and informative is just a huge plus :) I have to admire your patience though of flying on economy to Thailand as you take that route often.. I took it 2 times on economy and vowed to myself to never fly economy that stretch again.. I find it horrible as it is quite a long flight, so now I always go for the premium economy carriers or the low cost business class ones.. But I again must say that I love your informative videos and keep up the good work :)

Thanks for watching Daniel, nice to hear that you have tried this aircraft too! From a filming perspective we did not enjoy flying with this aircraft as the very deep window made filming quite challenging. Our aircraft of choice are still the A340´s A330´s because of the two seat window config and the Boeing 777 if we can get the two seaters at the back of the aircraft! FRA is a nice place to transit through. I've only been in the A gates, but it's very similar to the Z gates you guys went through. Lots of facilities and things to see, I loved it.

We found it rather difficult to film out the A380 window and as a result we have no plans to fly Economy Class with this aircraft type if we can avoid it. If we get the chance for Premium Economy or Business we will do that. Watch out for our Lufthansa Airbus A380 Trip Report from Bangkok to Frankfurt in the future ;-)

A great video as allways! I enjoyed every bit. It was indeed a pity that filming was obscured by the way the window was build. I think that you liked the storage beneath the window very much. It seemed as if this is a feature one only have at the upper deck... (does anyone knows???) Love your humor by the way... that remark by Maro about clocks 😂

The window was a hassle to film out of which means that we will not go out of our way to fly with the Airbus A380 in the future. That said the little storage cabinet was fantastic (as you mention). Superb video really loved it and I thought the food service staff fantastic. Funny this is I said to mags they should have a curry wurst as I loved that in Germany 🇩🇪. Now I have to be honest and say I feel a bit deflated as the a380 didn’t have the wow factor and your armrest looked like very old fashioned especially with the control etc . I’ve seen some spectacular flights with you two but this didn’t over impress me . Anyway you have a lovely weekend 🇬🇧👍

Hi Kieron and Mags! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed this vid - a long time on the way because of the flu etc. etc. The sausages were awesome, we had to have something German and that was a good choice - the Germans have always been good at making sausages :-D Our flight attendant was fantastic and she did allow us to film while she poured the Sparkling Wine for us. It´s fantastic that Lufthansa offers Sparkling Wine to us Economy Class passengers, we are not sure whether they still do?? We were impressed by the size of this aircraft when we boarded but must agree with you neither of us had a wow effect. I think to have the wow effect you will have to fly Business Class. As I (Maxi) mentioned in the video I was not please with the very deep window either, very difficult to look out of and film from. Which airline are you flying the A380 with, Emirates? I have heard very good things about the Economy Class service there! We look forward to hearing you impressions of the A380!! Traveller - Trip Reports & Travel Videos yes emirates , we had the option of taking the 777-300 from London stanstead but always wanted to fly the a380 so hoping it goes ok . After that I really fancy the a350

Hi there Kieron, as mentioned above, I (Maxi) have only hear good things about the Economy Class service and space onboard the Emirates A380 aircraft - this information comes from friends who have tried them :-D The A350 is lovely, but we miss the 2 seat window configuration that the A330 and A340 have. We are sure that you are going to enjoy the flight!! :-D

Very nice video again. Nice to see your tour of Frankfurt airport. It’s a big airport but it looked very empty this time. I normally be there 2 times a year. And I agree with you that the German sausages are delicious. And of course big congrats to your first A380 flight. It’s an awesome and huge plane. But I was surprised to see that Lufthansa boarding second floor passengers on the first floor. Emirates boarding from 3 doors. 2 on the first floor and 1 on the second floor. Personally A380 is my favorite plane. Well done again for a great video. Wish you a nice weekend 👍

Thanks so much Mr Wang! We found it rather unusual how empty the airport was too. We have flown on Christmas Eve/Day before and have always experienced a very busy airport and full flights, In this case our flight was full but the airport was not busy, very strange. As you could see from the video we had a great time in the airport eating, walking around and watching planes so the hours went very quickly!! :-D We were also wondering why we were not boarded directly on the second floor, perhaps a way of saving? We are pretty sure that the airline pays for each "passenger Bridge" docked to the aircraft... We liked the A380 but as mentioned the very deep window was not very good for filming. We prefer the two seats in the back of the Boeing 777 when we can get them. Thanks again for watching, enjoy the rest of your Sunday nad have a good week ahead!! Kind Regards from Maxi and Maro :-D

Loved your flight report. The A380 is indeed a gorgeous and extraordinary aircraft. So it's very sad that its production has come to an end. I thought the cuckoo clocks were a Swiss tradition. Glad to learn it has a German connection as well. Your meal in Deutsch looked so tasty. If I'm ever in Frankfurt.... And not to forget the poor dog, I think there's a high probability it suffered through a Ryanair flight 🤣

Hi there Ziauddin, hope you are having a good weekend! Happy to hear that you enjoyed this Tripreport with the Lufthansa A380 and our time at Frankfurt Airport. We just Googled the origins of the Cuckoo clock and it would seem that it is Germany, something about the Black Forest region. We had not thought about it until you mentioned it... but also had an idea that the clock was Swiss ;-) We had a really cozy time in the little German Restaurant sampling German Beer and tasting German traditional Fast Foods, yummy! HeHe, we thought that that dog was just putting on the breaks because it did not want to fly but it badly needed the toilet and the owner was trying to get it to an area to do that away from other people. :-D Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

The A380 is a great aircraft, and it seems the economy legroom on Lufthansa is similar to the Emirates one we've flown on.

Fantastic! Glad to see you flying on the A380. When we fly to Singapore from Marseille via Frankfurt last year we had to run through the airport to get out flight.
