Got one , been mixing with it for a couple month now and i love it, it got everything a dj needs to make a good set on 2, 3 or 4 channels mode, and with the screens no need to check the computer anymore. I usually use an old school set up (2 turntable + A&E 92), the only bad point about it is that you can't hook turnatbles :) But who cares ! it is made for Digital dj's :p
Great review! I was torn because it doesn't have stand alone functionality! However, I have the s8 & have been using it for a year now! I now understand the Traktor workflow and find myself really using the screens for programing! Which to me is very important! I hardly look at the computer anymore! I think i will go for it! Thanks again for breaking it down!
Hello Mojaxx, Thoughts on running a Pioneer XDJ700 through the line input on the NI Traktor Kontrol S5 for someone that wants to dabble various software Rekordbox & Traktor? ... by doing this I believe you could use Traktor FX and the mixer on the line input and also mix over some stems files, maybe even stems you have created yourself and mix in and out bass, vocals, drums, etc
S5 just for home with computer, s8 if you want to play live outside or to hook up external devices such as turntables, cd's, it has more professional dj features than s5 (also for stems).
Definitely not for everyone. I dig the whole S8/S5 philosophy, but I hope NI do bring a new controller with jogs at some point, as touchstrips just aren't right for some people.
