Which colours lens for Tennis

Hi. If you use them for tennis with satisfaction, I imagine I could use them for pickleball? Maybe I could consider buying photochromics lenses and using them both indoors and outdoors. That way I will have great glasses for general use? What do you think? Thanks.

Hi! Thank you for liking the channel! These lenses are NOt photochromic and so I’ve only reviewed these lenses which are designed specifically for help with Tennis and Cycling. Photochromic lenses have a totally different characteristic and I would not use them for tennis at a competitive level.

@@AceTennisReviews for your response. I understand your point of view. I see that you use Road Jade lenses and I found them to be in the middle of that category as they block less light than Road Black and more than Road Original. I could therefore choose the Road Jade for the exterior when playing pickleball and go with my choice of photochromic for the interior because they will be transparent and use them as day to day eyewear. Good idea?

No problem. Yes these are Road Jade and in the middle of the spectrum of how much light they let through. What you’re proposing could work, but do you have very sensitive eyes or is the lighting indoors in such a way that you need glasses to play indoors? I’m assuming the answer is Yes cause otherwise the lighting at indoor facilities usually aren’t severe enough to need glasses. If you do have very sensitive eyes, and your level of play, it might be more optimal to have a few sets of LENSES and swap them out depending on Indoors (clearer lens), Outdoors some sun (Road Jade), Outdoors direct sun (Jade Black). This is of course the most expensive option so something to consider. I personally don’t like photochromic lenses for competitive play because the technology is very good these days in lens specific lenses, and no so great for multiple scenario lenses. But this is my own personal opinion and it could different for you. For indoors, the lenses needs to be able to pass a lot more light through otherwise your sight can get too dark. Might feel comfortable but as your level of play increases, if it’s too dark, you don’t see the angles of the ball and it’s spin/movement as well as you need to.

@@AceTennisReviews in fact, I don't have any specific issue with my eyes indoor. I simply want to get a higher quality glasses with clear lenses. Because I'm playing pickleball, I'm mainly looking for protective (safety) glasses. I already have shatterproof polycarbonate glasses but they offer poor optical quality. You have to keep in mind that glasses for pickleball offer by well known company cost between 50 and 60$. So, if I'm paying 300$, I should have something completely different in term of frame and lenses quality. Am I wrong? Thanks again from Québec!

Ahh ok that makes sense. Yes the high price for lenses like the Road Jade is because it makes the tennis ball easier to see in medium, to medium high brightness. We are paying for the technology and light frame. It’s not meant for safety, so you are not wrong! Also look at Bolle’. They make great glasses too and some come with a replaceable clear lenses that you can use for your indoor pickle ball matches. Or if you like the Oakley, see if they have a replacement clear lenses that they sell. As long as you have the Radar frame, you can easily replace their compatible lenses within less than 1 minute. Please let me know what you end up choosing and how it goes.
