Nope, used to be pretty durable. My grandmother had Ecotronic 600 from 2005 for nearly 20 years, only recently bearings had gone and programmer broke, had to scrap it
Amica is still in business. They just sold most of their Polish production plants to Samsung and switched over to import nearly all of their products - right after the sale, their washing machines were made by Vestel in Turkey, now by Midea in China. Amica’s own washing machines always looked out-of-date (stuck in the 90s) and had several design flaws, but they used to be relatively reliable for the price. My parent’s Amica, labeled "Premiere", lasted over 14 years before the shaft seal failed. I only had to make two small repairs: 1. the interference filter exploded; 2. a coin got stuck in the (questionable) recirculating system.
