i've had the gryphon for about 8 months and it is a great device. I have limited space on my desk and have used it as my "desktop" setup with my HD6xx, Focal Radiance, DT 770 (80ohm) and all my iems (planar included). Your review was spot on!
Iw had it now for a month. It make difference that you use it at MAX LDAC bitrate 990kbs. Its easy to make out MP3 to LDAC. But the real star is USB connection. With UAPP you get full MQA decoding and even tho MQA is bit "gimmicky" but it truly sound extremely nice. The best portable iw had heard. I got also monoprice portable THX but this thing take the cake.
The irony is its below the Signature and Diablo in hierarchy yet it looks the best with and comes with an OLED display to boot. I use my Gryphon for my IEMs and the Signature for my full sized planar cans.
@Sam Shaker The Signature sounds more effortless with higher loudness output. The Gryphon drives IEMs pretty well but the Signature is superior in driving full sized planar cans. I find the Signature sounds slightly warmer while the Gryphon is more neutral and has a more sparkling treble. I would go for the Gryphon if I'm using mainly IEMs.
Great review but seriously, using that background audio at 5:34 on a review for people who are into audio is just mean, lol. I kinda missed it transitioning in and I kept hunting for the static, I even changed my Bathy's off BT to DAC.
When I connect my Dan Clarks Aeon into the ifi Gryphon via 4.4 Balanced, I always get distortion. Whats going wrong. Also, is there any DAC / Amp better for those Headphones? Thanks
Thanks for that. I'm looking at buying the andromedas and we looking for a portable amp so this was perfect. Is there any other portable amp you would suggest? mainly to feed it off my PC or iPhone. Cheers
Not really a budget as long as it’s portable and I can run it off a usb c. I really don’t want to run multiple wires and mess with it. I like simple. Probably keep it $209-3k. Thanks
Really do appreciate the honest feedback, and thank you for taking the time to watch the review. I've been working hard trying to improve on those exact issues. This is a pretty old video. Please take a look at my newer stuff, and please let me know if you have any other constructive criticisms. Thanks again!
