Sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Eli Benedict Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I'm going to thank my DM, Joe. He was the person who pulled me out of a decade worth of fear of judgement and failure in order to join my first campaign. I was so afraid of joining a D&D campaign that it took me over a decade to even purchase the handbook. Joe (and the other members) let me sit in on an online campaign to break the ice and after that evening he asked "So, you're joining us next time, right?" and he helped me to do so.
Joe sounds like a truly awesome man. So cool he did all that to help you out! I'm really happy to hear he was able to help you like that! Stuff like that is what makes our D&D community so awesome. Seriously.
Im 14 and have recently started DMing in school for some of my friend s who thought d&d was ‘not cool’ and ‘’sad’ but I got the school librarian to order the starter set for us and we play once a week on a Wednesday afternoon. Also really enjoyed the review and think that mad mage would be a great adventure for my players after they finish lost mines of phandlever
Cool! I hope you're able to show your friends how awesome D&D can be! Phandelver is a great adventure to start with, too. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions about DMing (that's exactly why I do this channel--to help DMs!). I have a Discord server with other DMs dedicated to helping each other out if you're interested, too: discord.gg/Msat4NB
I'm 17 and My School has a Club for it. The party I DM for and I play every Wednesday and Thursday at Lunch and Office hours. I know most schools don't have that so it makes me glad to know that you got That!
I love being included in the forums. It is here that many people are able to share and discuss information around DnD. As a newer player I look to those who are also new and try to give them some of the pointers or tidbits I myself have learned the hard way.
I just started playing DnD and the dungeon master is very creative in the stories so far. I would like this as a christams gifts to further his creativity and our experience as players!
I am running 3 separate dnd campaigns. I am currently running one with a completely new group who have never played and are now passionate about dnd and two one-on-one campaigns with people who dont feel comfortable in a group.
I co-started a community group 2 months ago that opened the doors to D&D for all ages in my town. Two games so far in a Adventurer's League style format as well as a "DM'ing 101" session for those who want to learn to DM. There are more planned of both and we've had good turn outs so far!
The positive thing I plan to do more and have already done is to welcome a bunch of new people to the amazing world that is DnD. For example I recently welcome a really good friend of mine to play in my first DMing session and it went pretty spectacular and she loved every bit of the experience! I also plan to get my regular DM a really dope set of dice cos he’s been a great one for the 3 years we’ve been playing :)
I got sober 3 years ago and a couple of new friends and I play damn near every week now. It's my new obsession, I love playing with new people and even get surprised when they remember rules better than I do. Oh, and we constantly buy dice and show them off. We even have a 3.5 vs 5e insider jokes. I love that this is in my life now.
It is my hope to show other starting out dms, or players that running a game can be rewarding too. I hope to show people of all ages how much fun dnd can be, and how much good it can do for us.
I've been looking to get my old gaming group back together and playing again. We've always been Pathfinder players, but I've been looking into 5e recently and was hoping to play through Dungeon of the Mad Mage to convert everyone and get us started again. I also just recently found Hero Forge and was thinking I would make a late Xhristmas present out of custom minis for everyone in our campaign.
I plan to continue my path in the dnd community as your average player and dm. Eventually I want to hopefully get to a point where I can run local campaigns and help new players a like.
At my table, I'm crafting custom terrain/set-pieces for each of my players' characters, as our two-year campaign comes to an end. In the community, I run easy D&D sessions for kids at my synagogue to help them exercise their imaginations and learn probelm-solving and team work.
Idk if this is as good of a thing as some other people have probably done entering this giveaway, but I have been DMing a group of friends for a while, and will be directing their PCs into a Christmas side-plot where at the end they all recieve a home brewed, self-made magic item specifically made for each PC. It will be their D&D Christmas presents.
My group and I just finished Storm King's Thunder and they're looking for more adventure, literally. The best thing I think I could provide them would more another campaign. A new opportunity for my players to tell stories, create worlds and adventure of course.
The maps closely follow the style of the 2nd edition Ruins of Undermountain boxed set. So closely that I suspect that they are just excerpts from those maps, at least in parts.
Or maybe they were actually trying to mimic that style is kind of a throwback theme. I suppose that would kind of make sense but it still doesn't change the fact the maps are kind of lackluster. And while we're on the subject of maps I just got the new ghosts of saltmarsh module and the maps are so not impressive. It's kind of sad it's like Wizards is just making a they're they're doing something and just cutting back on map quality I don't see any way to see it otherwise.
So my buddy got me a copy of the dungeon of the mad mage and it looks pretty cool. I don't plan on running it as a full campaign. Instead I want to use it to run single dungeon adventures when my group feels like taking a break from our main campaign. In your guys opinion what are the coolest/most fun dungeons from that book and why? thanks.
They are all petty cool I feel. If you're using their existing characters, I'd just run they are at the right level for. If you will start them with new level 5 PCs, you can just run through the module from start to finish.
I want to start a podcast for female DMs to share ideas, answer questions and host worldwide online campaigns to encourage more people to play and find the confidence!
5/5 for plot and story for a module universally panned for its lack of plot. I've run this module twice once as a player and once as a DM. I think you may be confusing setting and atmosphere for story and plot. The module gives usually a page or two of setting for each floor but the lack of connection between levels makes the module feel less like one super dungeon and more like 23 demo dungeons tossed together
I'm gonna ask my old party to play again I know it's only positive for the six of us but everyone liked my old adventure, IRL stuff just got in the way. Have fun y'all:)
Bringing fun and enjoyment to "only" five other people is a noble pursuit, IMO. I've had players tell me that my games were the bright spot in their week that helped them get threw all the other crap in their week. Hearing that shows me how important and awesome being a DM is! :D Improving the life of just five other people is a great thing!
I'm in my 30s and just started playing D&D earlier this year. I run an online group including international friends as well as friends who are differently abled and can't drive. Giving them another social outlet was big on my list for starting this wonderful game.
Here in Brazil, Minas Gerais,Contagem, the concept of tabletop rpg or d&d was quite weird, for without enough money we don't have the capability of using such expencive materials as d&d suplys or modules, for example this "Dungeon of the mad mage" here in Brazil cost 3 times more plus taxes, but still, i find loads of stuff and help online, where i found free pdfs that helped me and my groups know what is an rpg, i have 2 years being a DM and well😂 it was weird at the begninig, we tried groups of 20 people with a beginner DM(me), but with perseverance most still play, divided in varios diferent groups like a improvised adventures league, it would be insane to have a the real stuff coming for our groups to actually own a real d&d Book.
That's awesome! Thanks for doing so much to take D&D where it's much harder to do so. I lived in Honduras for 4 years, and I know what you mean about costing more. For some things its was cheaper for me to order from the USA and have it shipped to Honduras than buy it there. Crazy...
I am buying my players each their individual mini's so that they can really live up in the game i am also painting them if they want that and drawing the caracters of the players who are less good at drawing in my campaign
I'm writing a novella for my DM, to accompany our game and give other interested friends who haven't played with us yet little cameos as story characters to engage them as well!
I'm relatively new to D&D, but I've been playing Magic: the Gathering for years and have filled my head with a rediculous amount of lore for that multiverse. I'll be putting that to work at my FLGS to run a Ravnica game for new D&D players.
That right there is the most noble pursuit one can have in life, IMO. I love that D&D is able to help you share the message of Christ with others. Keep it up! (I was a missionary in Central America for four years, btw. :D )
I've been thinking about making dice boxes for my players. The kind with cut out foam inserts so you can customise what's inside. It'll open like a book with the left side having the cutout and the right being a rolling tray
Starting next week or the week after, I am going to be volunteering at the local high school as a DM after school on Mondays. I currently run a board game club with one of the teachers on Wednesday, but he needs another DM as popularity for D&D in his Monday Club has grown! How cool is that?
I want to make a website with free homebrew content. Also I am a DM with my one group so I am contributing, the group is made up by me and some fellow teenagers in the komunity. When i do this i will get a, gift from the «state» i live in and it wil say on my CV. Good luck to every one in the contest, and I hope I win!
I love that I am a female in the community as a female DM I feel that everyone who learns I DM at my local hobby store is a positive direction and lessens the stigma that dnd is a male geek game and that it's for everyone no later how old and gender!
@@theDMLair absolutely! And honestly I feel it's become such and awesome indie thing that so many people are getting behind. And there is staring to become this more abundant following I've deffinaltly noticed over the years. I am thinking about running another table to keep up with the demand. I run 3 tables at 7-8 players each. Heck but it's such an inclusive incredible game. I'd rather play dnd than be out getting drunk or hooked on meth hahaha why do in real life when you can do it in dnd life.
100% agree. There are so many destructive things folks could be doing that they're not because of D&D. The game is therapeutic in many regards. My own players have told me how much it helps them. Wow... You run lots of games! 😀 You should consider joining a bunch of us DMs over on my Discord server. We chat about DnD, help each other out, and whatnot. discord.gg/Msat4NB
@@1992leisha Hats off to you in a major way!! 3 campaigns with 7-8 players each?? Holy hell! And yes, I agree that DnD is a super cool and enriching game, but it's also not bad to have a glass or two of beer or wine while you are playing =D =D.
ve been dming for 5 years now, Started back when I was 13. I bought the dnd starter kit and I dm'd for my friends. They are all now dungeon masters of their own games, I regurly let in new players so we have more and more with the hobbie, I dm regurally for al as well, Though im afraid this season I wont be able to complete dungeon of the mad mage, But II dont really need to, as long as I provide fun for my players im fine.
I have a few friends of mine who have been trying really hard to find a dungeon master, they have been looking for a person who can have a regularly scheduled time to meet and also have the energy to run a campaign for a long time. I have a writing and historical background and they've asked me quite a few times. They keep trying to make the DM position more exciting by trying it themselves, but it's been hard for any member because they want to play as well so a full time dm isn't what they want to do. Well, I decided that my way to help the DnD community would be to DM for my friends. That way, they will get the play on a set schedule, with a set DM as often as they can. It's scary for me, which is why I'll be asking for the Dungeon Master Guide to help me along my path, and after that, I intend to run the first campaign of fifth addition, and many many more!
Im designing a full pack of paper minis for the Starter Kit campaign, which we will release for free for new dms to brighten up their table and make their first experience a little bit more fun
Enjoyed the review, definitely excited to give it a read myself. But you said that maps were included in the artwork category - and gave it a 5/5, then went on to say you didn't like the maps
I am a DM starting out. I have started and will continue to make props scenery and items for the players to work with in the game so that they feel more enthralled and pulled into a storyline. I'm hoping to start an on going with waterdeep dragon heist so dungeon of the mad mage would help me to add a lot of lore and extra detail to this campaign. Thanks!
I love brining new players to D&D and everytime I DM a game I have someone new play and learn because I think that's fun and I love giving them dice and stuff to learn. I would like thank my players that I DM for because they are always great and understanding of my decisions.
Me and three friends have begun to play D&D this week after purchasing the three core rule books together. We are having a blast, and are currently homebrewing our first adventure. We look forward to playing again soon!
That's awesome!!! D&D is tons of fun, as I'm sure you all are discovering. If you guys have questions, feel free to hit me up on my Discord server: discord.gg/Msat4NB There are also other veteran DMs there to help folks out. The goal of the community I'm creating there is to help other dungeon masters so we all can become better together.
With the Christmas coming up I am running a Christmas one shot where the magic items my players receive will all be tailored to their own personal likes outside of the game
I plan to incorperate the characters and entwine them into my homebrew. I open my house and provide 90 percent of the minis. I use premade modules to enhance my campaign. I am looking at broadcasting both my campaign and tips
I give "midwinter" gifts to my players; custom minis of things they do most with their spells, or custom made drink tumblers with their favorite sayings on them
I've been part of the D&D community for only a year, and I spent it DMing. I got my GF into it, and I have at least two if not three players from outside the USA. So instead of jumping in as a player, I did the harder jump right to DMing, and I'm encouraging people overseas to get into the hobby.
I am setting up yet another D&D game during lunch times at the school I teach at. The students all have ASD and often struggle with social interactions, D&D provides a structure to help them interact with each other in a positive way and helps them something to look forward too each week. When this new group starts I will be running 4 D&D lunch time clubs in school
Hi Luke! One positive thing I can do for the D&D community is remind both players and DMs that communication is key to any group’s success. It’s much easier to pull someone aside and talk with them one-on-one than let situations and tensions build up. Following that could not only save your party, but keep friendships solid 🙂
I plan on always striving to be a diplomatic voice in the D&D community. It can be easy to hate on what we might not do or allow ourselves as players and DMs, but as much as possible, trying to keep a balanced perspective and remembering the heart of the game, why we love to play, is what I always try to go back to and what I want to encourage others to do.
So, my group is very new to D&D. We have all played once before, but we've never had to sit and research our own characters (our DM's did that) and we've never had to research rules and spell slots. Well all 5 of us are learning together which is amazing, but for my nice thing I want to send an appreciation gift to my old DM for always making my characters and letting me play simply for the fun of it not the technical part. It started my love for the game and now I have a group willing to learn and play because of him! #shoutouttobenthedm!
We'll have the 2nd anniversary of us starting playing dnd soon and I'm planning a session for my players where they revisit the location of our very first adventure. There's also gonna be a cake.
I'm painting a whole lot of hero and monster minis for our group currently :) I came to the video to check out a review of the new book and didn't notice the giveaway till the end, but it's a nice bonus ;) Thanks for the great review!
One of my players does the same for me, too. I love DMing, but it does feel good to get a break every so often. Just showing up to a game without having had to prep for hours feels great. :D
My first campaign in d&d has ended so I’m hoping to keep the team together with another campaign and probably send my amazing dm a set of minis for all the great work he’s done
As a quite new DM, 1 year of EXP, i've had difficulty organizing my refderences and info at the table., so i bought refference templates for existing items, monsters and npcs and blank templates not only for myself, but for my players to use as well when they need them as players and as DMs when they host. I believe that each new way to improve myself should be passed down to my players so that our newly emerging community to thrive and expand.... And i promise to make the fight with Beholder interesting and heart wrenching, just like the battle with the Adult Red Dragon from before was. (i won't make any promises that they might all survive ;) )
To make the D&D community bigger and cooler I decided to propose the idea of D&D to a teacher at my school who runs a Magic:The Gathering club. He said that after he has read the Player's Handbook he will start the club up which consists of 20 people. For that club I will always be DMing. That's what I did for the D&D community
Sorry to hear that about the maps... that's disappointing. For the D&D community, I will be getting my daughter some dice if her own (she's running a D&D game now), and helping her friends make and update characters. I have also participated in a Secret Santa for miniatures. And I will also always be welcoming of people to my gaming table. Games bring us together and bridge boundaries. And we also contributed a roleplaying game bundle to a needy family. That's what I'll be doing, or have done already.
I’m writing a D&D Tween show pilot for class, which I want to pitch. It will help teach good life lessons, show that those can be taught through D&D, and present D&D to a new audience.
I'm introducing new players to D&D! Also working on a set of one-shots that I plan to release to the public once I've had a chance to get them playtested.
A friend of mine and myself, are working on creating a community in our small town, that will allow D&D players and DMs eaisly find groups, pick up adventures and set up their own worlds. We've already planned a number of workshops for both DMs and players to help those who want that. As for the format of play, we're going to do a West Marches style games - the players will choose adventures they'll be going on, they'll choose whom they'll be going with and when.
Ive been DMing for 3 years now, as i am 15, and i think my players would really enjoy playing this massive dungeon, because it would be a break from the more, open world type campaigns i write for them. And to be honest, i think id enjoy running it just as much.
I'm a cosplayer. Next year, I'm going to be a guest cosplayer at my local convention. I'm currently working on my D&D character as a cosplay, and plan to raise money for Child's Play with the donations I get.
Hey I’m a kinda new streamer and I’m still pretty small but I found out about D&D through a fan discord server for Achievement Hunters D&D show I just wanted to try and help spread the word and the different experiences you can have by playing D&D with my friends on stream and answering peoples questions and showing them the journey from a brand new persons perspective of the game
I'll be gifting my players some dice, learning to be a better GM, continue to support the wonderful DnD Twitter community, and do a giveaway or 2 myself! 🙂
I am running campaigns for new players as I know how hard it is to find a decent long term group. The goal is to let new players experience the full spectrum of DnD gameplay and difficulty without the worry of bogging down other "experienced" players. Also hoping to get them hooked with enjoyment and wanting to play more!
I'm in love with WotC are doing with DnD, this last book seems amazing. Now i hope they do something for players like me who can't play a lot in group, It would be amazing some official solo adventure or book
