This is probably one of my all time favorite vhs camcorders. I lust love the colors and the softness of the footage. If you need batteries for your vhs camcorder or tapes I will leave some links down below.
VHS stick style battery: amzn.to/3utk8QE
VHS tapes: amzn.to/3jtg3FM
ClearClick video converter: amzn.to/3JvZWBX

Nice overview. I've got a General Electric CG 9808SE from November 1988 that's basically got the same design as this one. The GE camera is set as my current profile picture.

Recently came across a mint unused case of this in my parents attic, they bought it but never used it so it sat in storage, all wiring in original packaging and stuff. Might as well keep it for myself can make vintage game ads with it lol

The PV-420 is such a pain compared to the other omnimovies i've used, but I do love seeing it get some spotlight compared to its brothers. Great beginner camcorder for anyone trying to get into the hobby due to how common it is and its usually low price tag. Great content, broski!

@yourkindofjoe
@yourkindofjoe 11 месяцев назад
The av plug in that goes on the back.
@brandoncameracollection
@brandoncameracollection 11 месяцев назад
Those little things are actually really hard to find. But you don’t necessarily need it. You can plug the camera into the power supply/charger and then run your video cables from the av out to your tv or capture device and it works the same way. You just have to have the power supply plugged into a power source
@yourkindofjoe
@yourkindofjoe 11 месяцев назад
@@brandoncameracollection thank you. I tried researching it last night, I guess it was Panasonic's own 13 pin video composite adapter so I'd imagine it's not easy to come by. Luckily do have the charger/ video dock. Just ordered a replacement battery tho. Things are pricey 😔
@brandoncameracollection
@brandoncameracollection 11 месяцев назад
Yeah I think people usually loose the little av video adapter. And I’ve never been able to find an aftermarket charger for these old vhs cameras. So when you do buy one you have to make sure it come with the power supply/charger. And I know the batteries now are soooo expensive 😖 I got my battery a couple years ago and it was way cheaper then than it is now. But when you get the battery make sure you keep a full charge in it before you store the battery. It will help preserve the life of it because if you leave it for too long with out a charge they can eventually just die since they aren’t lithium batteries I don’t think.

I love this! thank you so much for your help! I found one on facebook Marketplace but it only has the camera, case, and manual. No cables! does anyone know a place to get that charger thing? the "rca" looking cables may or may not be easy to get idk... what I could just do is send the VHSs to get digitised instead... idk Can the battery be charged on camera?
@brandoncameracollection

So I have never been able to find aftermarket chargers only batteries. You’ll have to look on eBay for the charger. The charger also alleys you to connect your rca cables as well

The tape door should be on the left side of the camera and the eject switch is on top towards the back of the camera. Should be right about where the battery sits.

Hi, I am thinking about shooting a short film that would have a 80s vibe to it. Would this camera work for such a concept to do it the authentic way without using any filters. Also what would be the footage resolution of such a camera. Film festival generally demand a HD print for screening the film. Would this camera work?
@brandoncameracollection
@brandoncameracollection Год назад
The resolution would be 480p and if you film the whole short film with this camera you would not be able to do anything with it in hd. I’m not sure what your shooting for but if you use hd footage with it I think you could get away with it. Only thing is that the aspect ratio is 4:3 so if you want it to fit 16:9 you would need to find a way to stretch the footage and that ends up looking really bad.
