Those little packets are desiccant. Used to keep stuff from rusting.

I think you forgot the “Dog house” aka the emergency brakeman bunker

That little packet is silica gel. It is a desiccant which absorbs moisture and prevents all the nasty things that a very humid environment can visit upon delicate electronics and paint. Be glad they use it, and you might want to keep the stuff to reuse when storing your locomotives. BTW, your opening shot of the beast in action gives new meaning to "Close to the Edge"! Yes?

Summary: $800 brass locomotive with blue headlight and cab interior. There are $100 locos with better and more accurate lighting than that. BLI only came into its own with Paragon 3 trains, and still most of them are absolutely inflated and not worth half of their list price.
@adaribros

BLI has never come into their own. Their products have only gone down hill in quality over the last 10 years. No new products, and continually pushing their own decoders that are outdated long before they hit the market

@@adaribros Blue Line was their best imho, evidenced by little details of consistency: the way for instance the 8-pin connectors worked, how well and easily they fit. My new S-3 fits so improperly it isn't funny.

Nice. What’s the recommended minimum turn radius? Is it articulated? The prototype was not. Thx for the review. They’re aren’t many on this Q2.
@adaribros
@adaribros 3 года назад
Min radius is 24”. The model is not articulated just like the prototype

Great Video and sweet looking engine. I've got a Paragon 2 NYC J1E 4-6-4 and it sounds awesome too. I love the extra sounds it makes like city workers, sirens and other background noise.

Great Review! It's a shame that Lionel doesn't make one in O-scale.

nice looking locomotive... wish they would have used a golden or white LED for the headlight. Broadway does a nice job with the detail on the locomotives. Hope we can see a PRR E6 or G5 in the near future; I would love to see those locomotives mass produced without the brass prices.

The Q-2 was certainly the most successful of all the duplex drives. It certainly performed as advertised in moving tonnange. It makes you wonder how the T-1's would have fared with Walschart's or Baker valve gear!

pilsudski36 the T1 did have walschaerts.

Well less than 3 months and mine broke. I am in the process of finding out how to get it fixed. The gearbox is acting up. It binds up, lifts the rear drivers up off the rail and locks up. Very frustrating. I hope BLI can fix this issue quickly because it is my favorite loco.

Your right I did like this video! I have a whole set of coaches for a T1 and many other Pennsylvania steam engines, just not the engine it self

Having tracks so near a huge scale drop off or a real one for that matter would scare me. That loco cost $500+ and if it derails and goes over the edge it'll generate 'the cry of anquish heard 'round the world'. The wires you spoke of are actually scale pipes and fittings carrying water or steam or compressed air to the different parts throughout the loco. Your review would be interesting if you could do research and quickly explain what they do, where and a quick explanation why and how.

Great review! Amazing model! Broadway Limited always does the best detail. This thing is very, very expensive, but.... model railroading is an expensive hobby. I decided to research this beast. The real one had 7,987HP! The most any steam locomotive has ever had. That's 1,697 more than a Big Boy! It's pulling force was 100,800 (115,800 w/booster) and it weighed a total of 1,053,100 lbs! (tender + locomotive).

Ok.Well later on some H10s with lines west tenders migrated east. The ugliest thing the PRR ever did with those tenders was occasionally putting them behind K4s
