The absolute best RW4 review that I have seen. Subscribed.

My disabled brother-in-law bought one. I've been bicycling for 57 years. This bike is well built and has some cool accessories. This is also the biggest waste of money for an e-bike. They won't sell you tires or inner tubes and the ones that come on the bike are cheap. Most bikes sold don't come with "the best" tires and tubes. Rad Power Bikes have tubes and tires in stock but are keeping them for new bike sales. It's now an almost $2,000 paper weight. The 22x3 tires are only used by Rad. No one else makes them or the tubes. They sell an equally bad "armored liner" meant as an adapter so you can use 22x1.75 tubes in the 22x3 tires. Why is there not a class action suit against them?

It's 78" long. That's from the longest points. Once you turn the front wheel, it will be down to 70" or less. I just bought one today. The ride is so much better than my other eBike, probably due to the tires, as mentioned in the review. The bike has lots of power, but appears to be speed limited to 20.5 mph. You can sometimes get around that on the controller, or the H-bar control panel.

I learned from various sources that you can hack the LCD display to increase the top speed to 25 mph. I'm considering getting one but my neighborhood is quite hilly and I'd like my son (who's about 45 lbs) to ride with me. How has your experience been with hill climbing?

@@gammal1 i'd like to know this too. i live in an area that is mostly flat with the occassional killer hill. i've got one kid and will have another in a few months. debating getting this for a few years and then moving to the GSD when the 2nd is able to sit up in the bike.

It’s so easy to tip when the kids get on. The kick stand is horrible as well when it’s fully loaded on the tail. Difficult to push forward to get the stand up.

Thanks for this! I am considering this bike but I live in a place that rains really frequently and I haven't seen anyone mention yet how well this bike would do in the rain. Thanks for the info!

Hi I've been looking at buying a Rad Wagon because of the price and that it can take my weight of around 152kg but really want a ebike to help with exercise and to lose weight. I'm 57 and not a spring chicken so the power assist would be great to help me get biking again. Would you suggest any other bikes around the same price?

The EU / UK one may say 250w but trust me it’s the full 750w US variant.... I unlocked mine with a new lcd and she now shifts

So you would say carrying 30-35 pounds of tools over the Manhattan Bridge in NYC everyday would not be ideal? I don't know the actual grade but it is about 4-5 minutes of pretty steep uphill in each direction . . . I was hoping the 750 W motor would be good, but you would say this is the wrong bike ?
@DaveAtkinson
@DaveAtkinson 3 года назад
this is the UK spec of the bike, it's a 250W motor. the 750W one would be fine!

Why are EU regulators handicapping and or banning sustainable transport alternatives at every turn? It's very frustrating as a resident of an EU member state. This is a bloody cargo bike FFS how do they expect it to haul up hills with a pathetic little 250w

Thanks for your honest review. Paying 1'600,- for something that does the job limited and maybe, are 1'600,- too much. One does not buy a cargo bike to upgrade from the motor to the brakes everything. If there is something with the motor, controller and so on customers wait weeks and months for spare parts - in the middle of bicycle season. 22" tires, tubes and rims that only RAD has, is the biggest joke ever. Of course customers must have the possibility to buy these parts at any time just around the corner. In the RAD online shop 22" tires and tubes are always sold out. And how to upgrade a rim/wheel like this? RAD is something and at the same time just nothing. These are bad politics, not customer and environmental friendly. Bikes with throw-away mentality. For example a Yuba Mundo cargo bike plus a good motor and battery is the much better bike in relation to the price.

I think, you’re way to negative. This is a nativ 500W motor thats why it is 80Nm, they just cut it at 25km/h. These motors are powerful enough for the most customers. I have two bikes, one just with a 250W hubmotor and I love this thing, it’s a joy to ride, even with my 115kg + a lot of cargo in the paniers. The second with a Bosch middrive is definitely more powerful, but when you live in cities like Berlin, Amsterdam, London etc. that doesn’t matter, I‘m faster than the most cars from the start, thats enough. Keep in mind, that this motor is one of the most common motors in all of these delivery bikes. You find these everywhere. Please try it, before you judge it. Also the breaks etc. these mechanical disc brake are not the best on the planet, but they‘re powerful enough for a bike like this. If you want to, you can upgrade them by yourself to a hybrid hydraulic brake and thats 50€ for both. You will not change the gearing, there is a reason why they use these 7-8 speed cassettes, there is just not more space beside the motor for a big ten speed cassette. So trust me, you would not upgrade them. The Yuba is close to three times that expensive, but it will not give you three times the usability of the Rad. Most people will enjoy the Radrover. Where I‘m with you is the thing with the special wheels. That is something where I would say, sorry, but if I have to fix it in the middle of nowhere, it must be possible and I don’t see this with the Radrover. The first thing I do, is to change the tires to a Schwalbe Marathon with the highest possible puncture protection, but thats not possible with the Rad. I don’t trust anything else. That would be my biggest concern with the Rad, the rest of the bike is good.

@@Benjamin_Jehne Buy the normal Yuba Mundo plus for example a Bafang BBSHD (or another of the BBS series) and a good battery. Or: Buy a frameset. This cost's you more, yes, but not 3 times more and it is the much better, stronger, more powerful and long-lasting bike than the RAD. Real material to work with, no toy. A Yuba Mundo you can always sell for a good price, this is with a RAD not the case. The motor Bafang BBSHD you can take off the Mundo, keep it and sell separately. About the Radwagon: Think also about the rims that have special dimensions too. After a while you won't find any spare parts. RAD are one way bikes. RAD does not care about saving resources, the environment and the climate change. Ride a RAD bike right, do really kms/miles, and throw away almost every part within one year. On a Yuba Mundo basic parts are better, every part is available for a very long time. Ryde Andra 40 rims: no problem. Schwalbe Marathon plus tires: no problem. Conti Contact Plus are good too.:-) Something like RAD in the car industry would be not accepted and a scandal. You will think a lot of my words... :-) I'm looking forward to your 3'000, 5'000....10'0000 kms/miles update.

You get what you pay for. This is a great bike. Other bikes lock what this one has are more expensive and do not perform like this one.

@@jonasmeier417 I wanted to purchase a Radwagon 4 but after calling them just now to schedule a test drive they are not available due to a problem with the tires. They expect the bike to return in January but are not sure. This confirms your comment that the specialized parts are a big risk when buying this bike. I looked at the Yuba Mundo that you suggested but in Europe this is 2,5 times the price (over 5K Euros) and the is no second hand market for them meaning there is no residual value when I want to sell it. That is too big a write off for me. Do you have more info on building one yourself?

wouldn't really call this a review, not an honest one really. Reviewer obviously uses provided "talking points" with no demonstration of the "utility" or "cargo" part, which is its purpose. Instead, just clips of him riding it as any urban bike, which is a let down and doesn't convince me why I should buy this over a regular urban bike.

I think the video gives justice if the bike can carry an adult passenger which it does and I would expect you can carry lots of items based of the weight of an average adult. I live in Montreal with extensive bike paths and I would like an effective replacement of a car while I can bring another person with me while traveling and doing my groceries and with the range per charge I can go pretty much most of the metropolitan area back & forth.
@Michael-bt7bq
@Michael-bt7bq 2 года назад
@@AznKei1 If I remeber correctly, I went into the video expecting to see how the bike performs with all the different accessories, considering its labeled a "cargo" bike. Instead I got a review of the same capabilities of every bike on the market. I was very interested in purchasing it for its cargo capabilities, but ultimately decided not to, because the company fails to even manufacture the cargo accessories they advertise, and it's been several years now with them "out of stock" on everything.
